This GE 5,000-BTU window air conditioner is suitable for cooling rooms that measure from 100 to 150 square feet. The General Electric window air conditioner is designed to fit traditional-style windows and comes with GE's EZ-mount installation kit.
I bought this for my small bedroom which is a 12 by 12 and it did nothing to help cool my room. I had to put it on high cool and it still only mildly cooled, I will be returning this for a refund, and just think it hasn't gotten really hot yet

this is a very popular AC. It did help knock over 100$ off my utility bill for the 3 hottest months of the summer, but then it broke down. I made sure not to over stress it, so i am only disappointed in the durability. the walmart people told me they warrantied it for 3 months, which is how long it last almost to the day.

Review 5 for General Electric 5,000-BTU Window Air Conditioner AET05LQ
It does the job, and the setup was quite easy. Only downside is when it's on 'fan' mode, it doesn't really do anything unless your right in front of it but the actual cool mode works perfect.

I live in Tucson. In a mobile home that is not well insulated so it's hard to keep it hot or cold. I bought this unit about 2 months ago. If I put a box fan in front of it then it keeps my 320 sq ft room around 80 when it's 94 outside. My room is not a closed room either. There's an 8' opening to my kitchen that's not blocked off. 14 degrees may not sound like much but if I closed off the room it would surely cool more. It is quiet and I cannt even hear when the compresser kicks on. Now I'm going to get another one for my bedroom. I personall think it's better to have it shipped to the store if they don't have it in stock. Less moving it around during shipping and less likely to have problems due to that. This unit is worth me taking the time to write about it.

Review 11 for General Electric 5,000-BTU Window Air Conditioner AET05LQ
This is the second we have bought in the last 2 years. We have been so very satisfied with both. They are more than adequate for any small to medium size room.

Review 15 for General Electric 5,000-BTU Window Air Conditioner AET05LQ
Very easy installation. Fairly quiet, lightweight, and simple to use. We should have considered more than just square footage when we were sizing our unit. We purchased 2 units and installed one in each of two adjourning 118 square foot well insulated rooms where there was previously 1 large unit with a fan between the rooms. The one we installed in an office containing 1 desk computer seems like it will work well even when the summer heat comes. For the other equally sized room, we should have purchased a higher btu. It has a desk computer and some other electronic equipment which is likely emitting some heat and the room door is opened more often. The room also has 3 windows where the other has only 1. In this room the air conditioner is running at full power 24 hours per day even in 72 degree F weather. We don't know yet, but expect it may not be able to handle the summer heat.

It cooled the place but not by much. This should be purchased for a small area only...like a small bedroom.

Review 18 for General Electric 5,000-BTU Window Air Conditioner AET05LQ
Got this for the price and it is great in my small room with 3 pc's. Cools very well, but compressor is a little noisy. Possibly installation as I have storm windows that don't lend themselves to a/c. Would recommend as it does the job here for now!
