I love this unit it cold up my studio apartment, I set it on hi, energy save. my apartment is a 3 rooms setup (queen size living room, eat in kitchen, small bathroom) i close the 3 windows it has, turn on the conditioner put a fan in the door of the bathroom and it cold all the apartment. The basement is hot is not cold I don't know why since basement and colder than 1 floor ect. The only problem it has is the thermostat don't read the temperature well but for me is not a big deal. I save a lot of energy I save $100 compare to the $300 i spend on light bills on the 2011 with my older conditioner. I love it so much that I'm going to buy another one. thanks to hurricane sandy that sank all my beautiful basement :)

PIECE OF GARBAGE!

I have always bought Frigidaire A/C's and have been VERY happy with them but, in a weak moment needing an A/C for my new shop I bought this SAME GE (Good Enough). I worked okay for one stinking year BUT, after starting it this spring all it wants to do is freeze up. Why, because it has an internal leak and it's now low on freon. What a piece of junk, I've had my Frigidaire's for over 5 years without problems. Do not buy this cheap JUNK, you can get a Frigidaire for the same if not comparable price. I'm disabled and the last thing I need to do is replace a dad burn A/C unit every year and shell out the money for it ta boot. This is the BIGGEST piece of junk on the market!

I was kind of upset when air conditioner arrived. The Driver told me it was on it's side when he picked it up. Because of the Free-on, The unit has to be flat in order to work. He told me to let it set for a few days. I did, and luckily it works fine. I had it installed by a contractor. Usually my service from Walmart, is Great! I thought this should be brought to someones attention. Thank you for your consideration.

Trying to buy a AC unit in Nov. was a challenge. Buying on-line worked out extremely well. Furthermore item was ready for pick up sooner than expected. As for the unit itself, works great. Lots of options. Having use of the remote control when working in my virtual office is perfect.

This is the perfect size for a small room and it comes with a remote. How cool is that? I like that it has a fan mode in case it's not hot enough for the air conditioner mode. It also has a delay key just in case you want the air to come on and go off at specific times.

Perfect little air conditoner

This air conditioner works great! It gets a room freezing cold in a matter of minutes. It is just what I needed in this heat wave we are having in San Diego! I think perhaps any less than stellar reviews are because people don't know how room air conditioners work. They are not meant to cool an entire house, or a kitchen (which gets too hot). They are for a bedroom, a den, or a small living room. You have to close all doors to the room at all times, and keep the cool inside the room. It also helps to leave it running all day, especially when it is really hot out, because it keeps things cool (this unit has an energy saver mode so that it will turn off when it reaches a certain temperature). It isn't meant to cool the whole house, so if you leave the door to the room open it tries to cool the whole house and nothing gets cool. So close the doors and enjoy the cold!

Nice unit

This is a very nice little A/C unit. I have a smaller window opening (<13 inches high) and it fits. The remote control is a good feature as are the 3 fan speeds. On cooler days I use only the fan and it does a good job of circulating the air. The room is about 10'x10' and this unit cools it right down. I found the thermostat to be accurate. The filter slides right out to the side of the unit with no problem.
I have bought two of these units. The features you get for the price are the best deal I have seen.
An improvement GE should make is to protect the exterior of the unit with a grill. The fins are very fragile and on both units I had to gently straighten the fins.

I live in an older bungalow home and needed to replace the window air unit in the upstairs bedroom. It was easy to install and works great! The remote is also a plus. It is fairly quiet and keeps the room cool (not cold).

This was my first time shopping Walmart online. It was so easy. The product is exactly as advertised. The price was a great value. Shipping was extremely fast and inexpensive. Alot easier than dealing with traffic and shopping centers. I will definately shop Walmart.com in the future.

Works ok, I placed it in a garage converted into a man cave. Walls insulated, carpet layed down. Only seems to cool room down to about 82 degrees. Would like it better if the fan was more powerful on the unit. Fair price and meets my expectations fairly.

I bought this product for two main reasons, the price is super great for my income, and because my parents recommended to me (they also like it). I live in a small department since now I go to college, and it works great. What a like the most about this product is the Energy Save mode (other products don't have it and are more expensible), this mode helps reducing my electric bill. I bought it online and picked it up at the store (I saved $30 doing this).
I love it'

very good unit for a small room

I bought this one and the 8,000 btu unit for my childrens' rooms. This one is quieter than the 8,000 btu unit, although both are very good. The noise on this one on high fan is about the same as the larger unit on low fan. It does take some time to cool a room down at night, and hits it limit during the day. I have it in a medium sized child's room. If this were used in a small room or study/office, I think it would be great. It works for our needs since I am only cooling at nap time and night from only mid-80's to a desired low-70's, so I am not asking very much from the unit. It does need to be turned on in advance to be able to have a reasonable temperature in a desired time. The larger unit cools down a room much faster, but it is almost twice the machine. The versitility in fan setting, energy saving, etc. is very unexpected for a unit so cheap. The remote is also great to have.

I've owned many window air conditioners over the years and this one is by far my favorite. It's light so it doesn't damage my vinyl window. It's only 5000 BTU so it doesn't take up all the electricity on the circuit. It has great electronics and electricity savings options. It's quiet and, best of all, it keeps the room cool!
