Threatened by an unknown enemy, the Earth's governments unite to form a secret paramilitary organization, known as XCOM, to combat this extraterrestrial attack. As the commander of XCOM, you control the global defense team and its resources in a battle against the terrifying alien invasion. XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a reimagining of X-COM, the classic strategy game from 1993, and developed by the award-winning creators of Civilization. You will control the fate of the human race by creating and managing a fully operational base, researching alien technologies, planning combat missions, and controlling soldier movement in battle.
As a fan of the original PC game this game had huge expectations to overcome. Thankfully the team at Fraxis exceeded all expectations. This new update is a suspenseful game experience that captures all of the key ingredients of the original game. There has been some streamlining in the move to consoles but it didn't deteract from my enjoyment of the game. Now if only I could get myself to stop playing it. At the end of the day, I think that's the highest compliment I can pay this game. Even when I'm not playing it I'm thinking of ways to upgrade and command my troops the next time I pick up the controller.

I think its a great game, fun single player with high replay value, you can customize your units which makes them sentimental and makes you get attached to them. You get mad and frustrated when they die but its great that you get that feeling that they are your units. Also the multiplayer is really great, could be better, but still really good. This game is full of countless hours of fun!

This is an absolute gem of a game. It is a turn-based strategy game with incredible depth. I bought it about 72 hours ago and have already put in 23 hours according to my Raptr account...I haven't done that since....um...Fallout 3? The overalll strategy part of the game will have you watching the world to keep every country safe. You'll develop new weapons, vehicles, technologies, and even your soldiers. That is about 1/3 of the game. The other portion you will spend in the map testing your tactical skills against various aliens. Other games I like are Civilization Revolution, Fallout, Mass Effect, GTA, and COD. I can't recommend this game enough.

the original XCOM came out on PC in like, 1980. This game meant to capture the essence of that game and make a modern version, I didn't play the original but based on fan reactions they did a pretty good job
