When I opened the box, I noticed the back edge is elevated, insuring a great air flow and the computer will not over heat as some laptops are prone to do. Got it started and online without trouble. (and I am not a tech!). Then I found the little "finger print lock out". You open the computer by passing your finger over the right place. I love it. Very nice computer.

GREAT MACHINE! I was looking for a powerful machine that would replace my (8 year old HP/Vista desktop. I spent over a month researching what was available. I narrowed it down to two HP products, this 6c47cl and the 6c90us. Close, but I opted to pay a little bit more for the twin 750 hard drives over the two 500 HDs of the 90us. I have read all of the cons others have written and I would have to say they are wrong. I agree that the beat sound is good, but not quite as good as r HP would like you to think. I'm studying piano and two of the courses include DVDs that I have used and and sound is OK. But when I jack it into my 200 watt amplifier with its 12" woofer floor model speakers--wow. It makes the church organ sound like the one at St. Patrick's cathedral. The screen is great, sharp and bright, and it compares well to the 22" HD screen of my desktop. Fast and furious is what I'd say. Plenty of room for the thousands of pictures I have taken and will continue to take and The keyboard is better than I thought it would be. I'm about to install a high end Serif desktop publishing program that works well with my ACDSee photo manager. Also waiting for the key for Microsoft Office 10 to arrive in the mail. Then I be ready to roll for another 10 years. PS: the battery really is good. I think I''ll get a second one as a backup for when I go on long trips. Great, great machine that will do just about anything you want it to do. Jimbo
