Great laptop for average user

My first laptop. Seems to fit my needs quite well. Speed is good, image is clear, color and sound great. I'm not a computer junkie or heavy user, so basic laptop is ideal and will probably serve me a very long time. I have purchased a bluetooth wireless mouse from Walmart.com, a wireless HP 3512 printer, a bluetooth wireless keyboard, a Targus carrying case/sleeve, a lapdesk and even HP printer paper! Got it all at Walmart.com and picked all up at my local Walmart for free. I feel I've saved enough $$$ to make it worth it. With tech help from HP got everything up and running just fine. Thanks Walmart for your great prices and selection! Oh, got all my warranties updated with HP as well! Good to go!

Great Laptop for my Mom

This is a beginner HP Laptop for my Mom. She specified she wanted an HP laptop and I was able to find one online at Walmart.com. Everything she wants is included: dual core processor, Windows 7 with all the options. This computer did not come with the full Microsoft Office Suite, but that is fine since she will not write a ton of correspondence to anyone. Mom does not use PowerPoint or Excel so no real problem there. She is able to watch movies, listen to music and email with no problems. She is able to play her favorite games as well as run her software for work related projects. We got everything she wanted for a great price. We even got the drop/spill warranty for her...just in case. I hope she never has to use it, but I got it anyway. She seems very pleased with the laptop so far and if she has any problems or questions she has already met and introduced herself to an associate in the electronics department at her local Walmart store in Round Lake, IL.

This laptop is amazing .. and the price was the best! i would recommend it to anybody ! i use it for school and the enternet is fast i havew no problems and it comes with a 60 day trial of Norton Internet Security which alerts you about anything. also the battery life is good, it last about a good 6-7 hours ! i love it ! no problems with this item, the only negative for me was that dilivery took about a week longer than it was suppose to but other than that no complaints

I wasn't sure what I would get for the price, below $400 but I was very pleasantly surprised. The speed is good. Similar to my 6/8 GB desktop. The graphics I had to tweak a little, they weren't quite as bright as what I was used to but my brighter screen settings does not seem to take much away from battery life. It's still pretty good on battery, I get 3 to 4 hours out of a full charge. I can go quite a distance on my wireless modem (Uverse internet) with this bad boy. The color is slightly off from pictured here, not quite that dark of grey but still a slick looking machine, nonetheless. I like the grey coloring on the outside of the machine. I'm happy with the performance. The speed was actually quite a bit faster with the Norton antivirus than with McAfee so I'm looking to go back to Norton. My 60 days free Norton trial has run out but no problems so far! Would recommend.

If you want a laptop that is durable an reliable then this one is for you This laptop has survived a 5 year old after I left it at my sisters house its got great speed an plenty of memory, you don't have to worry with not having enough (as long as you keep it organized an do not install a bunch of bad applications) The rating on this computer is 3.9 (well you might think that's pretty low) Its not though, It is Determined by the Lowest subscore, here is the total rating "The Windows Experience Index assesses key system components on a scale of 1.0 to 7.9" Processor: 3.9(as you see the processor gets the lowest score) Memory(Ram): 5.9 Graphics: 4.5 Gaming graphics: 5.9 Primary hard disk: 5.9 So I give it (this is me averaging the scores) a Total of a 5.2 But overall this is a great computer, enough said

Errors on the backup storage saying no disk space

gives me error code 0x81000005 saying no disk space and that was day one. I cannot get anyone to contact me as to how to fix this. I have googled looking for advice and nothing has been given and many others get this error. Also it had a big scratch on the top when it arrived. No mention of how to upgrade to windows. No help or if so I have a long wait which I cannot afford. I may return it to the store if I can get a ride but until then I am back to using my toshiba for the important stuff I do not want to lose.

I love my laptop(: I'm on it everyday. Doing things such as checking my Facebook, email and Tumblr. I watch a lot of videos, whether they are on Youtube or just a DVD I put in, and the screen is really great (much better than watching anything on my ipod nano).
So far, the laptop has run great, I haven't used the DVD or CD burner yet, but I'm looking forward to that.

I rated overall as "good" because I have not had the lap top for very long but so far I am really pleased with its performance. I had a Dell previously and like this HP much better. It was easy to set up and connect to my wireless.

I spilled pop on my old HP and I did not have a lot of money to spend so I bought a Toshiba first because of the money. Got it at 5 p.m and played it for a few hours. next morning it would not turn on. Toof it back and went with the HP. I love HP. more user friendly reliable. Just great. My only complaint is that for the money I feel it should have a 10key. But yes I would say to get it. Wonderful brand and it is a good little laptop.

HP does not stand behind their laptops

I purchased this laptop in Jan 2012. It's July 2012 and it is completely inoperable. HP support has been terrible!! They have so far blamed my software, my security package, my external hard drive, the fact that the RAM is insufficient to run Outlook, and have sold me (or tried to) something different on each service call. I will stick to VAIO or even Dell from now on. I expect a laptop to last more than 5 months or at a minimum for the manufacturer to stand behind their warranty. Oh - and the final verdict after I threatened Legal Action? A new hard-drive. The test to confirm it was bad took all of 2 minutes; after 5 hours on the phone during a 3 day period with 3 different service techs. Naturally they want me to pay to have it installed. Will update this review if I change my mind afterwards.

I have previously had a dell laptop, it was pretty old and fell apart. It was used, but it was so slow I could barely do anything! So I got rid of it and looked for a better laptop, I saw this one and bought it. I brought it home and set it up, works great! Plays games, isn't slow, it was perfect for what I wanted it for. Now i've had it for a few months, but it still works great! I don't know if I the laptop had great durablity or I was just lucky, but one day I took it with me into town, my mom stopped at a friends and I brought it in with me. When I came back out I out it on the roof and forgot it was there! My mom started the car and drove away, when she went around a corner going about 50 MPH I heard a noise like something was scrapeing the roof and falling. Then I remeber my laptop! I had her turned around and go back until I saw it sitting on the side of the road. so she pulled over and picked it up. It got scraped pretty badly, the corner got cracked, the battery came out, and it was covered in dirt. I took it home and cleaned it up, and still works EXACTLY the same! The only thing that was damaged was the mouse, but it still works, just not that well.
