The revolutionary AOC 23" LCD Monitor (i2353PH) has a brushed-metallic surface texture, a super slim display body measuring just 9.2mm thin and a slim, transparent crystal stand to further enhance its futuristic styling. The base has illuminated soft-touch controls, and can tilt to transform into a sleek wall mount (VESA standard), allowing the panel to seemingly float in space. Futuristic technology is more than just an impression, however. The AOC Widescreen Monitor has a cutting-edge IPS (In-Plane Switching) panel, a superior type of screen that offers consistent image appearance and colors across the entire display, even from extreme viewing angles.

I purchased this unit after reading some good reviews on it for picture quality. I intended to use it for multiple things, including games, movies, and watching TV through the HDMI input.
The picture quality and contrast were good. The colors were a bit on the oversaturated side but you can turn them down in the color options. Sound was very thin and tinny as to be expected.
The bad part and why it gets a poor rating for me is that the LED lightbleed on dark scenes was absolutely horrible. The bottom left and top right corners were washing out any black details over a good 4 to 5 inches of the screen creating a very non-uniform image.
I'm pretty sure after the tech reviews I read that this is not suppose to be normal operation as it is so excessive and bad that I don't think anyone would not see or notice and be annoyed by it.
As far as build quality goes, it is light and very flimsy. It looks nice and all but the front brushed aluminum bezel is little more than a strip that seems to be glued onto the front of the monitor and has gaps in it. Not seemless like it should be. I get the feeling you could accidentally peel it off if you weren't careful when handling it. The base lock was a bit stiff as well. You have to disengage it so you can swivel the base into position and the plastic creeks at you as you apply pressure to move it. This had me a bit worried since all the connections have to go through the swivel arm up into the monitor.
For 208 bucks I'm sure there has got to be something else out there with an e-ips panel that has better quality and build. I'd pass on this one. It's too bad because it definitely looks stylish, but build quality and apparent lack of good quality control will keep me away from trying any AOC products again.
