I like the computer other than it said, the battery would last up to 5 hours. Barely last for 3 hours. I wanted one that would last for hours where i would not have to charge.

I gave this 4 stars bc the audio is weak. At the max, it isn't loud enough. I would recommend this laptop just get extra speakers to attach when you need to listen to something important.

This is a great laptop for the money. Dual core B960 CPU is moderate 2.2Ghz but with Win 7 x64 it's a perfect marriage. Good battery life on a single charge. The only downside is the weight and thickness. As I don't pack it around a lot, size/weight isn't an issue for me.

The cord that plugs from the wall into the "black box" doesn't fit. It will have to be taped or returned for a refund, which I plan to do. It loads slowly on top of that, so I haven't even been able to use it.

Great price... but, DO NOT recommend this product for use other than Facebook and gaming. I bought the laptop last summer and the processor is slow, the speakers are not worth using furthermore the DVD/CD drive and keyboard stopped working which have now been replaced after months of tech support and then sending the laptop, at my cost to the company . Before buying this product READ THE WARRANTY GUIDELINES!!!!

I bought this laptop as a way to keep me connected to work and the internet on the road. It is blazing fast and very easy to use. I like the big keyboard with the numeric keypad and the nice display. If I had to make any complaint at all, it would be the audio isn't very loud - but more than good enough for what I need.

I have no complaints. From all the Acer's and HP's i have owned in the past this is my first time buying a Toshiba laptop and i have to say, so far, i am very pleased with this one.
It is fast: 1333mhz Memory 4GB and the Dual Core Processor makes everyday tasks breeze by.
I paid only 348.00 (before tax) - can't go wrong there with this pc's specs.

Very pleased with this laptop so far. I was a little concerned about the initial set up since I am not computer savy. Out of the box, it was very easy, and I was up and running in no time. This is my first Toshiba laptop, and my friend recommended this brand. I owned a HP product prior to purchasing this one and it went on the blink in less than two years.

Have been very pleased with this laptop. It has good battery life, plenty of space and is fast. Great value for $400. Speakers are not sensational, but adequate. Came loaded with a lot of bloatware, but that is not a big problem.

I love my new pc. It's quick and easy to install all the information I needed to install. Very easy to add a wireless mouse if you don't like to use the tab on the pc. I used another wireless mouse I had and it worked just fine. No problems connecting to iternet or other web sites. I use it mostly for class asssignments. This is the best gift I have ever recieved.

I owned a Toshiba years ago that served me well. I recently purchased a Dell laptop for my wife and I'm not satisfied with it at all. I purchased this one for my mother and I like it so much that I'm considering purchasing myself one as well. I like the keyboard, and mouse both seem to work well. Would have liked to have had more usb ports but still good for the money.

I am very pleased with my Toshiba laptop. Did my research and talked with tech friends and toshiba placed 3rd on the list. I am still learning some of the functions on it, but its basically for personal use and for my daycare business. I would recommend this to anyone who wanted a reasonably priced laptop. always do your research first!

I'm a graphic designer with a great desktop system, but decided to get a laptop for basic remote personal use...something for Internet, e-mail, etc, and one that could handle the virtual piano program (Garratin Steinway) I use with my keyboard. After doing quite a bit of research on 15.6" laptops comparing processors, drives, features, etc, as well as reading a ton of reviews, I decided on the C655-S5512 over an Acer Aspire AS5733Z-4633 at the same price due to better processor specs, even though the Acer has a larger drive. One big factor in my decision is the fact that a good friend who is a college language professor has been using Toshiba laptops for years conducting some online language classes and has had absolutely no problems with hers. And her laptops get quite a daily workout! There were a couple others of interest I would have had to order online, but I prefer to purchase products I can see and touch in person....and return direct to the store if there's a problem.
As mentioned, I play keyboard and use a virtual piano program that requires a good processor to handle the demands of the program, and this laptop enables me to use the keyboard with the virtual program at remote locations with my Irish band.
I immediately uninstalled Norton and loaded Security Essentials, as well as getting rid of some of the bloatware.
PROS Good processor, speed, easy setup, DVD/CD RW, nice screen, good graphic quality, responsive touch pad, price.
CONS Tinny default speaker quality, only two USB ports, no top latch, typical corporate bloatware.
TO GET BETTER SOUND Regarding the default tinny sound quality that exists in most laptops and that many have complained about with this laptop, there ARE adjustments available to make it sound a little better. Go into Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > Smart Audio > SmartEQ / 3D Settings. I tried the SmartEQ settings but didn't like any of them, so since I'm a musician and involved with sound EQ, I did a custom EQ and everything sounds much better without the penetrating mids and highs that plague laptops and invade our ears. Obviously, with these very small and cheap speakers, it will never sound "good". But you DO have some control. Experiment to find the best setting for your taste. Here are my basic custom settings (always subject to tweaking):
These settings may or may not be to your taste but will provide a starting point. I've selected the option to place the SmartEQ icon in the system tray for quick reference. And remember....FN/3 to lower the volume; FN/4 to increase volume.
Overall, so far a good value and one I can recommend. We'll see how it holds up over time.

Another sound update
Posted 05/11/2012
Well, the sound EQ adjustments helped but I still wasn't happy. I discovered since it's stereo sound, the bass and low mids are concentrated in the right speaker, the high mids and highs in the the left speaker. While in SmartEQ, I moved the balance from right to left and discovered when all the way to the right with sound coming from just the right speaker, it sounded pretty decent. When moved to the far left with sound coming from only that speaker, it sounded extremely tinny, thin, and distorted with the volume turned all the way up. Not so from just the right speaker. So, until I can see about replacing the onboard speakers with better quality speakers, the best sound is with the balance set to the far right.

Changed sound settings
Posted 05/02/2012
I'd provided my initial sound settings, however, I noticed some distortion due to boosting the low end. So here is a setting that sounds better overall to me:
