I strongly suggest going for the extra expense of the extended warrantee. Although I've only had the frig for a few weeks, I know these smaller refrigerators aren't made with top quality components. Unless of course you don't care if you have to go buy a new one if it breaks down after the one year warrantee, then for piece of mind in the event something does break, it's a good idea to have the three year warrantee as a back up..

We purchased this protection plan for a previous ice maker. It went out after the factory warranty had expired and the extended warranty paid us our purchase price with no hassles. We bought another ice maker of the same model and purchased the extended warranty. We purchase the extended warranty plan for most items that it is offered on and have found it to pay off.
