Just got this as an early Xmas present. taking it back. You have to press down and squeeze another grey latch while turing the key to TRY and get it to close! A huge pain! The cheaper version opens and closes alot easier!

Would not open. Even when unlocked

This safe was extremely difficult to open when unlocked. There is a plastic piece that you need to squeeze to open the safe that was completely unreliable. I spent about 10 minutes each time I unlocked and tried to open it. I had to buy another safe as this was so useless. The only good thing I can say about it is that your valuables would be very safe in this; no one, including you with a key would ever be able to get at them.

This item looked secure but the hook itself is very small and there isn't much to enter the lock area. I felt as though it could easily be broken into. Also, it's difficult to open. It says to press and lift but it took be several times to finally get it open. I plan to return this for something with a better lock system and not so hard to open.

This case is not ideal for large papers that you do not intend to fold. Cash, Jewelry, coins, etc...it is perfect for. Face it, if you have real expensive valuables, than pay for a high cost safe. If you have some photos, & some extra cash you do not want to burn or become water logged in the event of a tragedy, you can not find a better case for this value, ANYWHERE!

I ordered this product for use in case of an emergency requiring evacuation. I planned to store files and important papers inside and was initially disappointed because the interior corners are curved thus requiring papers be folded.
I considered returning it but decided it can be used for other items. The 2-1/2" depth will store insurance policies, copies of ID etc.
It is very well made but somewhat heavy. I recommend it for storing items to be carried with you in case of a fast evacuation.

I have already returned the fire chest to the store. It was too heavy for me to lift. I could not get it open without help. All this could have had something to do with me being 70 years old and having arthritis in my left hand. The actual product looked as if it would do the job I just could not handle the chest itself.

A person needs to keep the instructions to be able to open this safe. Push down on the lid, squeeze to lever, turn the key and its open. Loose the instructions and never get it open.

Doesn't fit 8.5x11 paper

1.) Walmart doesn't give internal dimensions but Amazon does. They are wrong. It will not fit a standard 8.5x11 sheet of paper so they are no good for store important documents. This was the main reason why I returned it.
2.) The 1/4 inch gap people talk about it there but it appears to be designed that way...interesting. I'm not sure if it's a big deal or not. It's still waterproof, theoretically.
3.) The way you open the case is a bit clumsy. You have to press down and then lift the latch....you have to press down pretty hard.
4.) Keep in mind, this is a really inexpensive case so if the size works for you it should be fine.

It's my second security box bought and I'm satisfied enough. Let's see if some day the waterproof and fire save options works as good as it seems to be....
