In addition, the EL Series is easy to use, with buttons, ports and slots positioned in front for quick access. Do not buy if you want to play any graphics intensive games.
Ok...We bought ours new...
This computer is a good deal with its 1 T Byte Hard drive a 3GB of on-board memory, but after bringing this home, my boys tried to play Minecraft and were very disappointed. Even with Minecrafts settings dumbed down there was a delayed reaction when moving. Press the key to move forward wait a sec and it would move. Same with the mouse to look around. Very irritating!!!
Rather than return it, we decided to void the warranty and upgrade the video card (there is a slot for that). The problem is the power supply is only rated for 220 Watts, which means we cant buy it a decent video card without upgrading the power supply.
Next problem...the biggest power supply we could find that fit was only 350 Watts. They use a slimmed down power supply in this and the old boxy ATX power supply does not fit.
We ended up moving the motherboard, DVD, hard drive and USB/headphone/Microphone jacks into an older Tower that I had bought about 8 years ago. I bought a Ultra 750 Watt power supply and Diamond Radeon HD6450 (requires 400 Watts) video card. Everything fit perfect, and I was able to figure out the wiring for the Power switch and Power LED.
I went to eMachines website and tried to find the documentation on the motherboard and was told it was not available. What company makes a motherboard without having docs on it???
I ended up doing a google search for "eMachines EL1385G motherboard document" and found docs for it on a help website. Now I should be able to connect up the towers hard drive LED, computer reset switch and the towers USB ports.
Oh...and after installing the new power supply and video card, minecraft works fluidly...:) Better than on my 6 year old Gateway LX6810-01. Guess I will be buying a new video card for it in the future.

I bought a brand new model, not refurb, which worked for about 5 or 6 months. It quit being able to get on the internet 2 months ago. I used Emachines online help, and it didn't help at all. I tried calling and got a Foreigner who used the same site to step me through. I e-mailed the factory and got another foreigners answer telling me to do the same thing. I restored to factory new 3 times to no avail. My experience says I have a bad motherboard, so I e-mailed them back that I want another machine. Got answer from another foreigner telling me how to go about upgrading my memory! Will NEVER buy another E-machines product again due to no customer support. Am also reconsidering a electronics dept purchase from Walmart ever again!

I just got this computer today, and i am loving it. It's super fast, its very quiet.. I installed world of warcraft [yes i play world of warcraft] and it ran world of warcraft awesome. i only had to set the graphics on low. I recommend this computer to everyone.

First, I am seventy years old and use the computer for basic things. E-mail, genealogy, facebook. The last 14 years I have paid over $800 each for 3 computers. I figured more was better. I ordered this machine through Walmart and thought that I would sit back for two weeks until I received it. Wrong. It arrived in three days. Now, I have always had problems with setting up a new computer. Not with this one. I set it up, made my back-up and I was off and running. It seems to be a gutsy little machine. Very lightweight and compact. Has more than enough GB'S than I can use in the rest of my lifetime. The price was so low that I was very sceptical. No worries whatsoever. Office 2010 home and student is installed but you need a product key to get it going. Received my product key on e-bay for a super price. Overall, more than satisfied with the e-machine and highly recommend it to old people or young, first timers.

This machine is great and my husband loves it.
Someone gave me one for Christmas and when I saw it on sale again I grabbed it.

Nice machine, I have had it for a few weeks now, runs great. I made the mistake of hooking everything up and then turned it on, don't do that, just hook up what comes with it and let it do its thing, then hook up your printer and usb mouse or whatever. I had a fatal error and had to hit alt-F10 at start up to have it reload itself but that worked fine and now it works great.

I bought this system a couple of weeks ago. I love it! Works better than expected. My only complaint was that it come up under computer with monitor search, and specifications show "monitor: 20" ". That is a typo. Even though WalMart didn't have to do anything for me about the typo, they did discount the system so that I could buy my own monitor. Customer service was spot on and very accommodating! I highly recommend this system, just buy your own monitor and speakers.

I had purchase one of these brand new. Then I purchased a second one. And finally a third one. You can't beat the price and if you shop around you can find a decent 19" flat screen monitor for under $70 to go with it. I bought this specific model because of the 1TB HD from the store because it is not available on the website. I plan on a fourth in a couple months if its still available. If you plan on using older software with it, you may have problems with it being 64bit but most of what I have installed has worked. Windows 7 is by far one of the best OS I've seen in a long time.

Seems to run things well. Just wasn't the size the specs said, so the better gaming things i had already gotten to install wouldn't fit due to this actually size being a smaller type than the sizing said. But other than that, great buy. Have only had it a few days but so far so good :)

Only worked 2 week the hard drive went. It has taken over 2 weeks to get a appointment just to have it looked at and then they'll order parts then set another appoitment to fix it. I could have sent it to china to have it completly rebuilt by now. DON'T BUY.

I was looking to build the highest performing computer at a minimum price, then I stumbled upon this great deal. So far, this machine has exceeded my expectations. The computer has a small form factor and looks great. There are a few barely noticeable marks on the exterior, but other than that it looks brand new. Love the dual core and included windows 7. I mainly use this as a dvr using windows media center, which I route to my xbox via my network, and it works great! I am very happy with this purchase!

I never expected to get such a nice computer for about $250. It never seems "slow," or out of date. I think Windows 7 is great, too.
If you are thinking about buying this computer, don't hesitate. You won't regret it. Oftentimes, it's sold out online.
It is "refurbished," so because it was such a low price, I was able to afford the 2 year extended warranty, just to be safe and not sorry.
