Review 2 for Intex Krystal Clear Saltwater Filtration System
It is a good product once you learn how to use everything properly. We had never had an above ground pool before so we had a lot to learn. Now that we are figuring everything out i do like the salt water system. It eliminates the need for all the chemicals.

We purchased this filtration system along with a 14' above ground pool toward the end of last summer 2012. From the very beginning, even with the proper amount of salt, the chlorine levels were at the bare minimum. Getting the pool ready for this season, my husband cleaned the inner workings with vinegar as suggested. The entire top split open and we had a geyser. Thank goodness we were right there when it happened! The thought behind this idea might be good, but this unit never worked to our expectations and now it's just more garbage for the landfill.

I always wanted a pool, but didn't want to be a slave to the chemicals. I heard horror stories from friends about the expense, the hassle, and not to mention having to swim in those chemicals! I started looking for alternatives and came across this system. I wondered how it would work, but figured I would figure it out once I received it. I am so glad that I purchased this!! It is amazing and does exactly what it says that it will! I never put one thing in to our pool other than the initial salt when we opened the pool and it stayed clear all summer, never had a problem with algae, or any of the other problems that traditional chlorine pools had. We could swim whenever we wanted, and it changed our electricity bill only $4 per month. Well worth the money. It paid for itself that first summer!

Review 9 for Intex Krystal Clear Saltwater Filtration System
The unit seems to be in good working order, but...

This is an initial review. Updates will follow.
When I picked this up from site to store there was some cosmetic damage during shipping. The mounting lugs on the transformer (grey box on the right front of the unit) were all snapped off. Apparently it had seen some heavy Gshock during transit. That has not stopped the unit from operating though. Most of the wiring is internal through the base and was not damaged. This could have been packed better to prevent that.
That said, the unit does seem to be working quite well, as long as instructions are followed. Most importantly, one must realize that a couple of hundred pounds of salt doesn't dissolve immediately. I used 120 pounds in my pool and gave it a solid 36 hours to dissolve, including me stirring the pool with a canoe paddle a couple of times to help out. So if you see reviews saying they had low salt, added salt, then had high readings, somebody didn't follow instructions. Not the unit's fault.
As I said I gave mine a good day and a half for the salt to dissolve along with a couple of good stirs to be sure. I've had my Intex 14" sand filter running the whole time too. As soon as I turned the unit it on and set the time for it to run, it chirped happily at me and gave me a green light. I could -see- the unit operating as a fine mist of tiny bubbles began trailing downstream from the electrolyzer right then.
Other than the previously mentioned shipping damage, the unit was a breeze to hook up. All the needed connectors were included so there was no issue hooking it to an Intex filter pump. Other pumps may need adapters for the hoses to hook up right. Your pump must deliver a minimum of 1000 gallons per hour for this to work right. I highly recommend this be mounted to a good platform near the pump. Mounting holes are provided. I mounted my filter pump and salt water unit to a small base made of 3/4 inch plywood and some 2 by 4s to get it up off the ground and level it.
The power cord on this unit is pretty long and has an inline GFCI unit near the plug end, so plugging it in shouldn't be a problem. It doesn't seem to use much in the way of power. There are several things in my yard on the same circuit and no problems yet.
One other minor detail was the DVD included in the box wouldn't play in my Blu-ray player. Wrong Region or encoded for European (PAL) TVs rather than the NTSC standard used in North America. This was no problem though since the instructions were quite complete and easy to understand.
Considering the price of chemicals for a season compared to the price of this unit, even if it only lasts one season it has more than paid for itself.

Review 10 for Intex Krystal Clear Saltwater Filtration System

I have had this saltwater system for two years and this would be the second summer. We would have been using it. Last summer it worked great and it keept the pool clear. When I saw green I would soak it in vinagar and it would be up and running. This year though the low salt light would come on and then shut off the system even though my salt level was correct for the pool, so I soaked it in vinigar and tried a bunch of other things suggested on pool forums. I finally ended up order a replacment part from intex, it came and the machine worked for 2 days and now its beeping high salt and turning off so i have emptyed some of the water and replaced it with fresh the salt level is correct and now the system will not even turn on and my water is still green. I am so frusted with this product and of course the warrenty is only good for the first year of owning the system so of course it worked for only the first year because after the first year it doesnt work . Im not sure what im going to do proably invest in a better quaility machine that will last me more than a year. Cause at this rate if i had to buy a new machine every year it would be cheaper just to do chlorine.

Review 12 for Intex Krystal Clear Saltwater Filtration System
We enjoy stress free summers in our pool thanks to this system. I would have rated five stars but we had to purchase a new one because the old one had some sort or error that we could not correct so we had to buy a new one. A new one is still cheaper than tons of chemicals for the pool.

Review 14 for Intex Krystal Clear Saltwater Filtration System
the price of buying this chlorine generator and converting pool to salt water is less than i normally spent in one year of buying chemicals. this is my second unit, left pool off for too long this winter and the copper electrode and electrostatic cells got to dirty to clean while still hooked to pool so bought this one to replace the old one.
old one cleaned up nicely/completely by filling with vinegar for 24 hours then hosing it out. will keep for a back-up.

I debated on whether or not this was a necassary purchase when we first bought our pool. Then after spending a ton of money on chemicals for a season decided to take the plunge. So happy we did. So far we've only used it for one summer, but it worked great. The water was clear the entire summer with very little maintance. Not only did we save on the cost of chemicals, but the filter cartridge needed replaced less.

The system was fairly easy to put together and works as advertised! The only problem we seem to have is getting the clorine level to where it needs to be even after the "boost" cycle. But, in all fairness, it's summer in OK and the temps have been 100+ degrees for days on end. We haven't had the algae problem like we were experiencing with the chemical products. All in all, we are VERY pleased with this product.
