The site-to-store shipping was a great feature. HOWEVER, once we began to build the desk, we found 2 pieces which had been damaged....the drawer bottom and the top to the desk. That was frustrating because it put us dead in our tracks and we could not proceed with the setup. I immediately called Sauder and the customer service representative was apologetic and took the order for the replacement parts. That was on Tuesday and we received the parts on Friday. We just finished putting it together today, Sunday. The desk has some good features, but no place for the printer if that is what you need. I put ours on the very top of the hutch for now. The backing for the hutch is very, very flimsy (wood grained cardboard)..Sauder could have made something more substantial as a backing. The front inset panel to the door of the tower cabinet was loose and we had to secure it with wood glue. The left desk support leg opposite of the tower cabinet offers very little support as other reviews stated, so we had to use 2 L brackets to attempt to gain some added support. It helps to have 2 people due to the weight of the desk and hutch. The instruction booklet was fairly easy to follow and not many tools were required for set-up. If I had to do it over again, I would have put out a few extra dollars and looked for real wood. Overall it fits into the small area in the bedroom, it looks good, and will serve the purpose for us.

I have bought Sauder furniture before and have been generally pleased. This item was a pain to assemble with parts not fitting well together. The included hardware was fairly cheap and stripped easily. Some it the pieces came from the factory with gouges and marks on the laminate finish. The small drawer ended up getting wedged when trying to put it on the rollers. I am not sure if one of the tracks was warped or what, but the front of the drawer ended up breaking when I tried to remove the stuck drawer. I am fairly handy when it comes to tools and assembly so there should have been no issue with the assembly of this desk. I will be calling the company tomorrow to try to get replacement parts for the ones that were damaged and broken. Overall I am very unpleased. I know this type of furniture is not top of the line but I at least expect some sort of quality and functionality. If I were you, I would keep looking.

Fits great in our "library". It matches the Orchard Hills library bookcases we bought earlier. Not too big and grandiose so it's perfect for a small space or office. Plenty of functionalty. If you need filing capacity you should buy the larger version. Caution college students: this desk is pretty heavy and I wouldn't want to move it too often.

The only problem we had was assembling the desks. We had two 'teams' assembling two of the desks. The team with the experienced carpenter definitely had the advantage. Both desks turned out just fine, however; one team just took much longer for the assembling. We especially like Sauder products because they're made in the USA.

Nice looking, weak side panel opposite drawer side

Nice looking desk when complete. The desk bottom side panel opposite the drawer side of the desk is weak with only 2 cam locks holding it in place. Had to put screws in the side to strengthen it up. If you're going to move the desk without help lifting it (like me) definitely get slides for the bottom. Nice access is available out the back for cords and for air circulation around the CPU with the front door open. I would have given it 5 stars if not for the weak panel on the desk.

Assembly instructions lacks clarity at various stages. Immediately out of box and verifying that all parts were shipped it was noted that the main desk top had a crack from the front to almost the back edge of board. Note that the company replaced it immediately and without hesitation. However shipping instructions included for the replacement part was clearly stated, they were not met. The instructions were to leave the package at the back door -- instead left at the front door and in rainy conditions. During a near final stage of assembly it was noted that the two parts (sides) which provided for placement of drawer and door for tower cabinet (right side) did not have holes lined up from side to side. This created a need for redrilling the holes so all lined up properly. Note that on two other parts there were miner chips in the laminate covering.

I found the item to at least have the holes drilled where they should be. Parts matched up well. All small parts were in the package and easily identifiable. A couple of the larger wooden parts could have used a identifying stick but were fairly easy to figure out. Overall, the unit looks good in the room.

For all the pieces and parts involved, this couldn't have been easier to assemble. Now when I say "easy", it took me about an evening to assemble all by myself. The instructions were very clear, though. It just amazes me how well Sauder does what they do! There were only two things I wasn't 100% pleased about. The first was that the front right corner was slightly damaged in shipping. Seems to be the luck I have when ordering furniture of any sort. The second is the back, which is cardboard with wood grain. It looks as good as it can look, but I sure wish it was thin plywood rather than cardboard. This seems to be typical for furniture in this price range, however. All things considered, this was a great purchase and I would buy it again. Remember to be patient and take your time when assembling and it will turn out great.
