You can stop worrying about years of accumulated dust and grime in your carpet. The Bissell ProHeat 2X Upright Deep Cleaner 8920 is powerful enough to clean even the toughest caked-on dirt out of carpet, yet it is gentle enough to use on your floors frequently. This cleaner consists of two brush rolls with a total of ten cleaning rows to ease out dirt from rugs and carpeting. This Bissell ProHeat 2X deep cleaner can be used not just on carpets, but on upholstery, bare floors, stairs and automotive carpet. The included edge sweep brushes and stain tool provide even more cleaning options. The machine is powered with 12 amperes and contains a built-in heater. The Bissell ProHeat 2X Upright Deep Cleaner 8920 has a gallon tank capacity to store hot water, which can be channeled out of its hose. It has a 12-inch cleaning path width, Surround Suction, and a power cord of 27 feet for extensive reach and flexibility.

This product was easy to assemble and required little instructions for operation. Compared to previous carpet cleaners this one works the best by far. It removed tough stains and was easy to clean after use. I have three levels and the handle for transporting the carpet cleaner was a plus. It allowed me to safely move the carpet cleaner from floor to floor. I haven't used the attachments but have confidence they will work effeciently as well.

I have owned a Bissell Big Green Machine for years and broke it yesterday halfway thru cleaning the carpets in my house. I found that I couldn't replace the part I broke so researched a little and opted to go with the Bissell Proheat. I wanted to do my rugs yesterday so I headed to WalMart, put the machine together in 5 minutes and finished all of my rugs by the end of the day! I wish I had "broken" my old machine years ago! This is the easiest carpet cleaner to use and my rugs look amazing. The heater is a great option and I also used the tools to do my steps which was a snap. The only thing I think they could improve on would be a bigger water bladder but it's so easy to fill it's only a minor inconvenience.

I loved my machine. I used it about 5 or 6 times in a couple of years. Then it stopped spraying water. I clean it meticulously after use right down to unscrewing the parts and cleaning them. I did not know, however, that the heating coils get gunked up with minerals that are in the water. Once that happens you either have an expensive repair bill or, if you're handy, you can spend a great deal of time and effort taking the whole thing apart to attempt to clean out the build-up. (Check out the YouTube video.) Info online says that I should have put vinegar through it after each use to prevent this from happening.
Is it worth replacing, though? I can rent one from Home Depot for $29 for 24 hours. I don't have to take the Hope Depot one apart to clean it or run vinegar through it. The rental is more powerful--no doubt about that. It will clean and suck up the water better. I don't have to store the rental. Owning, however, is convenient for use. The Bissell is lighter weight. If you have trouble lifting, it may be a better choice. I, however, be going with the rental.

I had a Hoover carpet shampoo-er that finally died and decided to try something different so I bought this machine. Well, when I tried to shampoo my carpets, it took me 1 1/2 HOURS to do a 3 foot square patch because the machine wouldn't suck up the soap spots it put down. The double brushes were spinning but not cleaning and it was set for deep cleaning. I can't tell you how totally dissapointed I was with this product! I took it right back to the store still wet from using it, told the girl at the service desk to throw it on the garbage heap, then used the refund to get another Hoover, which did a fantastic job on my carpets! Needless to say, I DO NOT recommend this product!!!

While the unit looks very good, the design and construction are very poor. The unit leaks dirty water, even when lightly moved - a common issue from what I have read online. Had to return one unit as the water tank was cracked when initially received in the box. The replacement unit also leaked dirty water. Returned it as well and purchased a different model.

Absolutely worth the money. I have owned one of these for over 6 years. Family members, friends and neighbors have all borrowed it. With teenagers at home and pets, this is a must have. Cleans very well and is not hard to use at all. I will be purchasing another one today, as mine is on it's last leg. Some of the plastic pieces have broken off that are needed for suction, not because it is a cheap piece of equipment, but from loaning to other people and them not taking care of it. I definitely have gotten my money's worth and am excited to get a new one today. I highly recommend this cleaner for anyone who is looking to buy one.

The hand tool is not super cool and handy, but it's ok with this price. I would rather prefer a rotating tool. Rest is good with the main brush, it's powerful.

I just moved out of the home we owned and into a rental home so we are really trying to keep on the upkeep of the home. Since we have 2 dogs and tons of carpet, we decided to get this carpet cleaner. I just used it for the first time maybe 10 minutes ago and I'll have to say I'm generally satisfied with the product. It cleans really well, it's not too heavy, its super easy to put together and super easy to clean (literally, if you have to clean the brushes, one phillips screw driver and you're in#.
Now keep in mind that we never owned a carpet cleaner and we just moved into this house so I don't know A. if all carpet cleaners do this or B. that the carpet in this house was just THAT dirty but the cleaner seems to kick out clumps of fur. They look like little hairballs all over my carpet which I just picked up by hand with a paper towel. I'm going to clean the carpet again next week and see if it's still doing the same thing. I would recommend cleaning it out after every use if you have pets because it does clean deep #But as I said, it's very easy to clean... 5 minutes tops#. I vaccumed 2 times before using this machine and it still managed to get a ton of fur out of the carpet which is AWESOME =].
Another thing I wasn't too pleased about was the hot air it blows out at you in the back of it which I guess would be okay if it weren't already so hot in the house. I wouldn't say its a deal breaker but it was pretty annoying. Maybe I'll think otherwise in the winter.
All and all, I would recommend this product to my friends despite the hairballs #mainly because I'm still unsure about why it's doing it#. It does make my carpets look amazing and I will gladly pick up the little hairballs to get this quality of a clean for so cheap. Hope this helps! =]
P.S.- It asked if I was a Walmart associate and when I hit yes #I work at Sams Club) it asked me to enter my associate number and I don't know it so I just entered this review as a non associate. Not like I would enter a biased opinion because I work at Sams Club but I just figured I'd throw this little fun fact in as well.

Stops spraying solution and water after six months

I bought a Bissell Proheat 2x about a year ago. It worked well until recently. The jets that dispurse fluid got clogged. I cleaned them and it worked well for about a month. Then it stopped spraying again, and cleaning the jets didn't work. I looked into taking it in for repair, but that would have cost as much as buying a new machine. So I pulled the whole thing apart, cleaned all the hoses, reprimed the pump, tested the solenoids, recleaned everything, and put it back together. NOTHING. So after wasting an entire day calling around to get repair prices, then pulling it apart to clean and test, I have a $200 door stop. After paying that much for a machine I would hope to get more than one year of use out of it. Thanks Bissel >:(

Very good product for the money. I like the heating unit featured in this particular model. I had cream colored carpets that were literally black in the high traffic areas when we first moved in our house. Unless I told you about how bad they were you would never know the difference. I love the Professional grade Bissell Shampoo as well. A great accompanyment for getting great results.

This carpet cleaner did everything I needed it to do and more!!!! It picked up deeply embedded pet hair that my vacuum cleaner couldn't even pick up and made my floor look like I had never even vacuumed it before! It maneuvers easily across the floor and is really easy to clean and refill. I definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a good carpet cleaner for a great price and have already recommended it to my mom who also has pets!

I was so happy to purchase this for my apartment and less than 15 months later it already died on me. The vacuum part works fine but but now water won't spray out of the hose attachment OR the floor piece. I have scrubbed it, flushed it, took it apart down to the circuitry based on troubleshooting and NOTHING has fixed it. I now have to spray solution on the floor BEFOREHAND and then add hot water to the carpet itself and then vacuum it up. Not worth it if it's going to break that quick. I'm going to give Bissell another chance with a smaller system but I'm getting the extended warranty just in case.

I purchased one and used it maybe 3 times and it stopped dispensing water, Well like a fool I thought I had just got a lemon, I bought a second one and used it 2 times , It has quit dispensing the cleaning liquid . I contacted Bissell and they said sorry your 1 yr. warranty is up, Well how often do you clean a carpet in a year ? I called a repair shop and was informed it would cost me $130.00 to have it repaired but that I would be back in sight of 6 mos. with the same problem. He warned me about buying any shampooer that has a heater such as the pro-heat..... BEWARE FOLKS DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS JUNK.........

I was looking for another carpet cleaner that had the attachments for upholstery cleaning as well; since my old one is bulky and takes a lot of muscle(which produced blisters on my hands from the pressure used) to repeat going over the same area several times to get it cleaner than it was. This cleaner does the trick with not that much effort and the carpet dries a lot sooner as the vacuum for the water pick up is very strong. This more than meets my expectations. It took me close to an hour to put it together, but could take someone, more mechanically inclined, ten minutes; as I didn't fully read the instructions (I was way too eager to use it). The "soiled" area I was concerned about, came out spotless, as I did repeat the area a few times (it was ground in oily dirt). I have an active grandson and grand-doggy who often soil my carpet and I can say, from this experience I am very glad I choose this model, and not the cheaper one. This is a lot sturdier and has some features (ie: water automatically heated), I hadn't thought about when looking for a replacement. Yes, it does not have a large tank to accommodate doing a large room, but that's really not a big deal, simply empty and refill (very easy to do). My only drawback is that it's heavier to use than the lightweight, cheaper models, but the positive is, it's well worth the price for the job it does. I might add that Walmart does have an excellent price tag on it, as I have checked this out in my area. I might mention I used the Walmart brand cleaner, which works very well, and is less expensive. I plan on using this as needed and I'm looking forward to using the attachments for upholstery cleaning.

I've had mine for approx. 4 years. When I first got it, it worked great. I have a very small apartment, so you know it hasn't been 'overworked'. I've used it at most 7 times. It has always been some sort of a problem with it. The beater bars didn't turn, it wasn't sucking, etc., etc. Now When I just went to use it, it will not dispense any liquid. This has happened every time I've used it, but I always got it to work by following the instructions in the book. It is dead now. I've taken it apart myself, tried everything worldly possible, but apparently the pump has gone out in it.

Also - it is quite a pain to work with. If you don't mind many, many trips to add water/cleaner, then dump the old dirty water, you may like it. It's just too much trouble, period. Needs bigger holding tanks. Actually, my next purchase will probably be a professional model.
