Great for the money...

I now have three of the Primos 46 game camera's! The reason that I own three of them is because they meet my expectations, and they are at a very competitive price point for the quality of the camera.
The Pro's...
Price (I got the camera and a 20/20 mount for $99. That's an exceptional value)
Ease of use (I've owned cameras from multiple brands, and these are as simple to set up as any)
Design (The integrated cable lock access points are crucial to protecting my investment)
The Con's...
Slight Sound (There is a filter, inside the camera, that sometimes adjusts when the camera prepares to take a picture. I've not noticed it affecting the deer/turkey/coyotes that I get pictures of though, but if you listen closely, you can hear it)
Size (Three years ago, the size of this camera was pretty standard. Now though, manufacturers are making the smaller, palm sized cameras. Primos has also released their smaller cameras as well, but this particular one is larger)
Everything considered, I really do love this camera and have even sold a few of my friends on them. I'd not hesitate to by another one or two in the near future, especially at the price that I paid for two of them recently.

Seems to do what it claims to do.

I'm not a hunter and haven't used any other game cameras. i just wanted to learn something about packs of wild pigs that have been invading my farm. The pigs disappeared shortly after I got the camera so I haven't used it much. (They come and go.)
It's as easy to setup and use as the description says in a mechanical sense. The setup defaults are probably OK for most purposes at least to start. Just insert batteries and an SD card (neither are included with the camera), mount it (easy if you get the Primos 20 20 Game Trail Camera Mount too), turn it on and walk away. Come back the next day, take out the SD card, and go look at the pictures.
On the other hand, it's going to take more time than I've been willing to spend yet to learn how to use it effectively: What will and will not trigger the IR detector, what will and will not be included in the camera's field of view, how to locate and orient it optimally, how to use the setup features best in different situations, etc. My daytime pictures have been wonderfully clear. My night time pictures have been bright and clear out to 10-15' but so dark farther out that I haven't been able to tell what triggered a picture yet. (Except that I got great pictures of pickup trucks that drove in front of it twice!)
Let me emphasize that I don't think my problems have not been the camera's fault. I'm just saying that an IR triggered, IR sensitive camera is different than a digital snapshot camera. If you've never used one, plan on spending some time playing with it before you need to take serious pictures.
Just a couple of details:
THe description is fairly clear that the camera does NOT come with an SD card but it may not be so clear that the camera does not have any other place to store pictures. You MUST get an SD card to use it. Also, it does not have any interface to a PC so your PC MUST have some way to read a SD card in order to get the pictures off of it.
The camera doesn't have a viewfinder or "live" LCD display. The only way to find out what will and will not be included in a picture is to take a picture and look at it. If you're going to move the camera around a lot or mount it a long way from a PC, you may want to get a portable SD card reader so you can see what's going to be in the pictures on site.

Have been using for two months, with over 100 pix per week, and first set of batteries are still at 60%. The date and time on each picture is documenting entry and exit of vehicles and animals to the property.

I have used a few other trail cameras, but I think this one is my new favorite. The camera is easy to program and the display is very clear. So far, the battery life on it has been excellent. I feel like the pictures on this camera come out more clear than the other cameras I have used. Next time I'm purchasing another trail camera, I'll go straight for this one.

I wanted to see what was chasing rabbits and cats in my yard at night so i got this but it wont catch anything moving faster then a large slow moving animal or something standing still in front of it. I mostly got pics of nothing. For this purpose its a waste of money. If you want to look at deer or lost cows its perfect.

I've looked at many cameras going back an forth on which to get and didnt want to spend a ton of money but wanted decent quailty. I purchased the truth 46 for my first camera hopeing to meet all expections, and that it did. Very impressed pictures come out very clear only been up for couple months now and have checked it once a week and every time i have had success. From many deer to fox, and fisher cats. Would recommend for the price.

This is a good game cam. It is my first one so I did not have anything to compare it with. I would have given it 5 stars if it came out of sleep mode a little faster, but I might not have it set right. I haven't got any day pics yet but I got some very good night pics of foxes in my back yard. I need to experiment with it some more. Battery life is very good and it works for me.

I just bought 2 more of these Truth Cam 46's, in just one camera alone last season I got over 7,000 photos on only 2 sets of batteries, my old Cuddebacks would have gone through at least 8 sets of batteries for the same amount of photos.

The pictures were "washed out, and even though the manual stated that there was an adjustment dial on the front of the camera to reduce brightness of the night flash, there was no adjustment to be found. I called Tasco and the CSR told me that was a mistake in the manual. The only positive we found was the fast trigger speed.

Good Camera

I have no other camera to compare it to, so take this for what it's worth.
I have 3 of these and like them. A friend has a Bushnell brand cam that allows him to view the contents of the SD card by opening and viewing a screen on the cam. Good idea, that! That camera costs around 180$, so we get what we pay for.
Back to this camera. I like the quality of the images when I view them. I usually have it set to take the 15 second videos- I am hunting people, not animals, so it's good to see their faces if they turn and look at the camera.
I have access to free D cell batteries. It's a good thing, too. They really don't last as long as I was thinking they would while in this camera. I've used quite a few.
I also get free 6 volt lantern batteries, too. I finally made a cord to connect a 6v. lantern battery to the camera and removed the D cell batteries. Now, I can leave the camera alone and not worry about the battery going dead without my knowledge. It has a hard time killing a lantern battery!
Other than that, they are good cameras that take good pictures. A little difficult for me to figure out the controls and settings, but that's because I got left behind in the technology rush.
The camo paint scheme helps, well, camo them. Had one guy walk directly towards the camera while it was recording him 3 feet away. It was on a bare, wooden fence post. He is looking right at it while he comes toward it and doesn't even see it.....GREAT.
The optional mount you can buy for this needs some design changes. Don't work worth a hoot on a steel T post. They got the dimensions wrong on that. I called and chatted with them about it and all they want to do is argue. Works decent to clamp it to a pole or tree or round object, but there needs to be a ratchet strap to tighten it to the object, otherwise it will sag....you'll see....

There is no difference between the Primos Truth Cam 46 5.0MP Game Camera model number 63020 and 63025 except the "camo pattern is different" - this is directly from Primos.com customer service. Even though one advertisement states Digital and the other doesn't, it is the same camera.

Bought this camera to see what kind of game was coming through the area. Was really impressed after having this camera for 2 months now and ended up buying 4 more Primos Truth Cams.Very simple to use, very good nighttime pics and excellent dayime pics.Fast trigger speed. One thing I do want to say is when purchasing Sd cards for this Cam, the lower class cards like class 2 seem to work the best.I did have a problem with one of my high quality sd cards that wouldnt let the camera transfer pics.I have read this on other threads about the sd cards.Sandisk class 2 seem to work great.
