I ended up returning my Ematic 7" Touch Screen eBook Reader. I found myself pressing relatively hard on the icons in order to make pre-loaded applications function correctly. The color was nice (purchased the red).
I rather spend the money to get a Nook or Kindle, since this Ematic was purchase as a gift. This eBook Reader is good for starters. The price is awesome, and hey it claims to be able to do many of the things a Nook and/or Kindle can. Perhaps future purchasers will have better luck with getting it to function properly in terms of responding to a 'touch' prompt.
I rather spend the money to get a Nook or Kindle, since this Ematic was purchase as a gift. This eBook Reader is good for starters. The price is awesome, and hey it claims to be able to do many of the things a Nook and/or Kindle can. Perhaps future purchasers will have better luck with getting it to function properly in terms of responding to a 'touch' prompt.

I purchased this for my son's 11th birthday. We've had it for less than 24 hours and I am ready to return it. The touch screen is pretty much unresponsive even after calibrations. Typing on the keyboard is nearly impossible bc it inserts letters that have not even been touched. I was so excited about getting this for my son, but it was just a huge disappointment. I would not recommend this product to anyone!!!

The screen is pressure sensistive not Touch

It's important to know that the touch screen on this device is pressure sensitive, not tough sensitive, which means in order to get apps running you actually have to press down on the icons. It took me a while to figure this out too.

Great tabletLoveThat i have ascess to my emails anytime anywhere.Touch screen works great light touch does the trick.Books load very quickly.Was very skeptical when i first read the reviews but i am very pleased that i went ahead and brought it as a Birthday gift for myself.love reading so iam glad that i don,t have to got to the library any more.tThe only problem i have is that the battery life is very short charging has to be done every day.

Please do not buy this product if you want something similar to the Kindle Fire. This product uploads slowly, it downloads slower and will not let you see any youtube/google videos. The web surfing is a bit frustrating because the pages take a few minutes to load. This ereader/wifi tablet takes even longer to upload a novel and alot of the titles I was looking for were not available. Please, save your monaey and buy a better tablet.

thought it was a good investment for my daughter so she could have one of her own, but when I tried to set it up for her, I was having troubles getting the proper buttons pressed. I would have to constantly calibrate the screan so it would read our touch.

Not what I expected. Does not play you tube. Unable to download applications and Android had a red x over it. Unable to get the books listed. Volume was full blast and could not hear anything. Bought this for my wife that likes to read a lot, she was very disappointed. Will buy a Kindle Fire.

I purchased this product as a gift for my 8 year old daughter who loves to read. I can't even begin to express my frustration with the product. It is not user friendly and the screen is very difficult to read and navigate. I tried to dowload a game or two for her to play and the operating system is so poor that it wouldn't even support the download of the game. This was my second purchase of an E-matic product and will certainly be my last! I returned the product for a refund.

I totally agree! This product is JUNK! My daughter had her product for less than 24 hours and it wouldn't even turn on after being charged. I returned it to my local store.

I bought this in December for my grandson for Christmas. The device did not work. I returned it in February. After many tries, I received a "tested and working" replacement in early April. Well, this one did not work either. It's now mid-May and I've been fighting with them since April to get another replacement. Almost 6 months after I bought this thing!
They are full of excuses and I would spend a little more money and get a Nook or a Kindle.

The screen looked really good when I first turned on this reader. Good color and sharp pictures but the touch on the screen is awful. The only place I could get the screen to respond was in the middle. Near the edges, it was not possible to select anything and that is where the navigation buttons are. I can't tell you anything more about the performance as I gave up and returned it because the screen was so difficult to deal with. The price was great. It's too bad this didn't work out.

Love it, brought this product to replace a kobo ebook reader. and for the same price got alot more. I can surf the web, read my books, record, watch video and it comes in great colors. the only draw back I found was that it needs to be recharged often. I guess this is common with this type of reader/tablet when in color. still I would buy another in a heartbeat.

Then this is the product for you. You can download off of the slideme android market the free Kindle and B&N Nook apps for free. This has the sharpness of any color ebook reader on the market, and if you do get it, it does have a shiny screen protector on it (it is the clear plastic sheet on the screen with a red dot in the upper right corner. Do not take the clear plastic sheet off of the touch screen, you will regret it). And if you are a Harry Potter fan like I am, this will display the Harry Potter Ebooks in Adobe DRM epub just fine with the built-in Adobe Digital Editions software.
I would also recommend that you get a hard leatherette case for it, so that you do not harm it in your purse ladies. Or for you guys, lugging it around the house or a private spot you know of to read at. This ebook reader does have a home charger (car charger is not included) and a USB 2.0 cable to transfer (copy) the books from your Free Adobe Digital Editions app on your Windows 7 desktop or laptop pc. But there is one drawback. The external microSD card that you can add must be only 16 GB, but hey, with the built-in 4 GB flash memory, that would be more than enough for your ebook collection via Amazon Kindle App or Barnes and Noble Nook app. The Kobo ebook reader app is included, so no need to download it.

Gift for each of my children and within 2 weeks one quit booting/loading then stopped charging completely. Within another month a second stopped charging also. The third one has continued causing problems and unable to boot/load. All around we will never purchase this type of generic product again.

Sometimes you really have to tap hard for the screen to forward or go back. Really considering returning for something different. Can't seem to get the "country" to reflect the USA...it keeps defaulting to Chinese(talking about the weather app) on the home screen. If the touch screen was a little more sensitve i believe i could work with it...

I like the Ematic alot. It does what it says it will do, My pics I've downloaded are sharp & bright. Excellent, My music sounds great. Battery life could be better, I have to plug it in every night. And the internal memory could be larger. But then thats why I bought an extra MSD card. Holds tons of books. Easy to read, even with bad eyesight. Great

I love this reader. It makes reading books so much easier. I can read faster and at night when the light in the room is not real bright, it is lite up and much easier to read. I like the fact that you can sign onto your website and read your emails. I liked the price because I wasn't really sure if I would like reading books on one of these, I didn't want to put too much money into it. This is a great product.

I bought 4 of these ereaders almost a month ago for my kids. The kids have been having a blast! They were pretty simple to set up, I love that they come in different colors because each kid gets their own and there is no arguing! My only complaint is if you drop it down the stairs or off a counter onto a hardwood floor, the screen breaks... we thankfully bought the insurance for all 4 which I do recommend. So far we have had no problems with having them repaired :)
