Haier Compact Dishwasher 4 Place Settings

This item is quite impressive in all honesty. I got it second-hand so I didn't receive the sink's faucet item ("dishwasher snap adapter") that the machine hooks up to. Nonetheless, I got it at Home Depot for just under $4, which by the way, there are two dishwasher versions, one is for big dishwashers, and the other is for little dishwashers, which the little one has a nipple looking spout. You guessed it, this one takes the little snap-adapter which I didn't know existed until my second visit to the Home Depot. But once the faucet snap-adapter is swapped out with your faucets normal air-rater and the new nipple snap adapter is screwed in, the connection to the faucet is quite easy. It is quite easy, despite previous review's claims to it's difficulty. (hold-down/recess the white collar, slip it over the nipple, and let the collar release/spring-up).

the down sides to this item are FIRST it's size, but that's also it's strength too, no? Don't be fooled though by the picture. Those plates in there are either 6 or 8 inch plates, they are not the 10 inch plates that I have, which isn't 10-inch plates normal these days? So to fit mine in, I have to put them on a slant which I think would hold three at the absolute most and on a significant slant that disallows much else to be put into the machine. It won't take 4 10-in plates. Just eye-ball the manufacturers picture and the size of those cups and the knife in there sticking up compared to the plate, and you'll realize that picture was set-up to look in a certain way (bigger and more practical than it really is).

SECOND bad thing is the unhooking from the faucet (even after the water is turned off) sprays water all over the place... so, remedy= put a dishcloth over it before you unhook it.

THIRD down that you have the water -in hose and water-out hose and the power cord dangling loose when not in use. If you have someplace to tuck it in, then great, but it isn't one that retracts into the machine like the bigger units have.

LAST down is that if you're picking it up to move it, it does still have some bit of water in it, and the hoses, so just be a bit aware.

Other than those downs, the machine does very much impress me. it cleans exceptionally well on "normal" setting, which is better than the full size machine I had, at "Heavy" setting, and it uses what seems to be about a gallon of water in my unprofessional estimation. All that, and the machine runs a load of dishes incredibly fast! I very much am pleased with the machine, and if you don't mind about the 4 downs noted above, then you really would benefit greatly from owning this item. It really is unobtrusive in size and the-perfect apartment appliance to have (after the micro of course). Also, I noted I got it used, and it wasn't taken care of at all whatsoever in my view, and it still runs great, and doesn't leak at all! Bravo!

I love it. It saves alot of time. My first one starting leaking, I called the company, did what they said and the next one came within 14 business days at no cost to myself, the second one is working GREAT

Good dishwasher, gets the job done.

I purchased a Haier Compact Dishwasher approximately one month ago. This was the best purchase I've ever made.
Mine is setup on a microwave cart (on wheels) close to my kitchen sink. The dishwasher connects very simply and quickly to the sink faucet. It is easy to operate and very quiet when running.
The interior is bigger than it looks, and cleans exceptionally well with both big and small loads. I usually rise-off the items before loading them into the dishwasher until I have a full load. But I was quite pleased to discover that everything came out just as sparkling clean when I loaded the dishwasher directly from the table without rinsing the items off first. The filter (for those unrinsed loads) is easy to remove, clean, and replace.
This dishwasher was the nicest gift I've ever bought for myself. I haven't washed a dish by hand in a month. I'm cooking more, but my kitchen is always spotless and so is all of my cookware!
Thank you Haier for a great product. My only regret is that I didn't buy this sooner!

I was pretty excited about this product since I live in a small apartment and thought this was great. I tried it out once I got home and was a shocked to find my kitchen floor full of water. It used the drainage tube just fine in the beginning but then it started leaking all over. I tried everything in the book but nothing worked. Even the first load that went thru (when the machine worked properly) was just as dirty as it was when I loaded it. Very disappointed in this product.

had this dishwasher exactly one week before it died for no apparent reason. i realize there is always a lemon in every batch so the fact that it died so quickly isn't even the reason i don't recommend this washer; i was fairly unhappy with it even while it was working and now that i have purchased a different brand of washer i realize just how bad the haier washer was.
Problems:
-Dinner plates didn't fit inside without bending and forcing
-Anything beyond a 1960s sized mini coffee/tea cup didn't fit in the cup rack
-Badly placed dish holders
-Didn't get my dishes clean
I returned the broken unit and decided to get the Danby 4 place setting dishwasher which was about $10 more. The Danby machine has been 100% better - it has actual selectable cycles (Haier's basically has "off" and "on"), really get my dishes clean, and most importantly, my dishes actually FIT - I can fit WAY more in this machine even though they basically have the same interior cubic square feet or whatever. Same size.
Do yourself a favor and DONT get this machine. If it does keep kicking you'll fight it every day to use it. The Danby is a piece of cake in comparison.

I have only owned this product for about a month. It has held up for me so far and I have already done about 50 loads of dishes in it. Our bowls are unusually large so I can't fit the whole 4 places settings in the washer but, I do stuff it pretty full with all sorts of items. I feel that we got a good deal on this product and it has made our dishwashing much easier.

I have a tiny apartment kitchen. We are a 2 person household and we like to cook! I have longed for something that would free me from the shackles of the kitchen sink and hand washing dishes. So, I purchased the Haier HDT18PA dishwasher.
Firstly, Walmart has the best price and the longest return window (90 days). This dishwasher is a great helper, but you should not expect it to perform like a full size dishwasher.

The statement that it accepts four place settings is a little misleading. Four LUNCH settings, perhaps. If the lip on the upper level of the tub were just a half inch higher, it would accept my 10 1/2 " dinner plates easily. As it is, it is difficult to load.

You MUST pre-rinse thoroughly. And don't expect it to remove sticky food residue such as dried egg yolk or pasta without first wiping with a sponge.
It is easy to operate, but download a copy of the service manual instead of trying to translate the broken English in the owners manual.

I find it quiet, easy to clean and mantain; and the space it takes up on my counter used to be occupied by a drainboard, so I'm not really loosing much.

Hopefully, it will be durable and long-lasting. But at this price, I could replace it three times and still come out ahead financially.

Despite its drawbacks, I would recommend it since there is little out there to compete with it.
