With a big 5" touchscreen and more than 8 million points of interest (POIs) and spoken turn-by-turn directions, the Garmin nuvi 50LM 5" Portable GPS navigator makes driving fun again. Touch the screen to easily look up addresses and services and to be guided to your destination with voice-prompted, turn-by-turn directions that speak street names. The speed limit indicator of this Garmin GPS with lifetime map updates shows you how fast you can go on most major roads. With its "Where Am I?" emergency locator, you will know where your exact location is. The voice prompt GPS also comes preloaded with more than 8 million points of interest and offers the ability to add more places. Lane assist with junction view guides you to the correct lane for an approaching turn or exit, making unfamiliar intersections and exits easy to navigate. The lane assist GPS realistically displays road signs and junctions on your route along with arrows that indicate the proper lane for navigation.

I am old school....read a map. Got this item and it is great. If you make a wrong turn it quickly adjust and gets you on your way. This one I bought for a graduation gift because I liked mine so much.

I deliver food to many locations, it has been programmed for all of them and gets me where I need to be without any failure It's a great tool...
This is my second one the first was stolen out of my wifes car, I was BUMMED, :)
The first one I bought on line when you had a sale, this one was full price but I needed it badly...

The Garmin nuvi 50LM 5" Portable GPS is easy to navigate. It gives detailed directions and is very user friendly. I loved that the GPS comes with a stand to use on the windshield. I was able to literally take the GPS out of the box and use it instantly which was great (very easy set up.) Another great feature is that the GPS comes with free updates, which means it will always have the fastest route and correct roadways in its system.

I've only used this twice but like it a lot so far. The voice is clear and loud; the screen is large. The only thing this one does not do that my other Garmin did is say Recalculating, which sounds like a good thing but I suppose you may not know if you've made a wrong turn.
I recommend this one in spite of that. I think it is a good deal.

We love the Lifetime Map Update. We purchased a Garmin years ago and now it is outdated. It takes us the long way to our destinations or the wrong way. We knew it was time for an update. Our first stop was at Walmart.com & we were thrilled to find lifetime map updates because we had to pay to update our old Garmin. Plus, there was no guarantee that the old Garmin would update correctly. The large screen is beautiful and it shows how fast you are driving. When you are speeding the numbers show in RED. Very cool! The price was descent, no bargain but worth the price.

I had the smaller Garmin nuvi 1200 with a 3.5" inch screen and it was fine but I upgraded to this Garmin nuvi 50 LM which has a 5" inch screen. It has the "lifetime maps" included in the price. A good selling point for me. Straight out of the box it was put to work in Phoenix, AZ. Never been there before and had to go to my son's wedding. We were all over the place and this unit took me every where without a hitch. I love it. Several new features which I like all of them. I have not heard "recalculating" once! It seems smarter to me. But it does a great job for me and I am sure it would for you. I recommend this if you want a portable GPS unit for your car.

This being my first GPS I couldn't have asked for anything better. The 5" wide screen makes it clear to look at directions while driving. The GPS also re routes quite quickly and is accurate most of the time. I haven't updated it yet but would want to do it with the lifetime maps. The voice is clear on the turns and it specifically shows lanes and lane directions while taking an exit which I find very helpful on highways.
I was quite surprised that it also has a red light camera detection system which is definitely handy. All in all I would say that the Garmin nuvi 50LM is worth every penny.

Just upgraded my Garmin and love it. The screen is bigger and the graphics are great. My husband has a TomTom and he took my old one. We both love the Garmin better than the TomTom.

Item sold as new but was a USED item. The previous owner had locked maps making the item worthless to me. It simply would not work. A GARMIN representative verified that the item would have to be returned.

My wife and I are having fun with this. Since it has a female voice, we named her Gracie. Gracie isn't always correct, but those mistakes are down in the noise. Gracie was a great buy and a good companion.

It din't work at all. I tried to get directions from my home to a doctor's office about 30 miles away. I was famiiliar with the route having gone there before. If I had followed the directions that this GPS gave, I never would have gotten there. I returned it to Walmart an got a refubd.

While in Florida, my Zumo 550 went buggy. I purchased the Garmin 2595 (refurbished) unit from Walmart. Why pay 60 to 80 bucks more when you get the same warranty on the refurbished unit. Out of the box the unit was easy to operate. Where to, type in address and away you go. I did go online and download the manual so I would know how to program my favorite destinations in. While on the way back to Canada, the unit advised me of an accident on I75, then a traffic delay which I thought was great. The added feature of voice commands is another great feature. I can do everything from adjusting the volume to finding a stop all by talking to the GPS so no need to fiddle around while driving the car. The lane assist works like a charm as well. Now that I am back in Canada I will send my Zumo in for repairs and keep it just for the motorcycle. This thing works so well I am going to pick up 2 more units and give them to my children. As for the bluetooth hookup for the cell phone, I don't use as I haven't had a cell phone since I retired.
