This method of shopping for particular items is really a slam dunk. When you get to the store the purchase is ready & waiting. We will use online purchases in the future.

I have purchased this item on several occasions, but the last few times I have noticed the price has went up and the quality of it has seem to gone down, such as less of corn and more stick like objects in it and very dusty, I know it's only for wildbirds and such, but do/did have a large variety of birds that were attracted to my feeders but it seems like not so much now!! Hoping this is just a fluke, and will give it another try in the next few weeks..thanks for listening!
This is the only wild bird food that had larvae then moth type bugs. My apartment became infested. I discovered the source was Pennington wild bird seed. I advised Pennington - they said grain is susceptible to weevils. Is bird seed grain? I do not believe these bugs were weevils. They wanted the UPC symbol (covered in larvae) and receipt (no longer had - never had this problem with other wild bird food). Didn't matter I will never buy Pennington again. Bottom line - stay away from Pennington.

old seed

Unfortunately, in a retail setting, some products set on the shelf too long. Products like this are supposed to be rotated by a certain date with new product. ALL brands of bird seed will get bugs in the package after a certain length of time. Whether that be on the store shelf or at home. It helps to buy fresh bird seed and remove it from the package completely then place it in an airtight container. It's not Penningtons fault basically. You just have to make sure that before you buy, look over the product completely and make sure there are no "webs", empty seed husks, or excess grain dust in your package.

Buggy Pennington bird seed...
Posted 06/18/2012
The same buggy problem happened to me. Bird seed was 'stringy' and stuck together. Worms and flying moths were throughout the bag. All stages of the birdseed moth! Amazes me how anything can live inside a sealed bag, but it's true. I wrote to Pennington, but didn't get a reply. Two strikes against them...#1 - nasty bird seed & #2 -zero customer service.

I have bought this before. I reorder it because my wild birds love it. There is almost a steady stream of cardinals, chickadees, etc. I even have a few redheaded woodpeckers. They are fun to watch. I have a large birdfeeder. We fill it to the top and it's gone in 3 or 4 days.
