Keeps both kids happy

This unit does exactly what we wanted it to do. It plays one movie on both screens or two different movies at once. Sure, it does other things like play photo CDs, but really who does that? MP3 CD? Uh, yeah, I guess so, but even cheapo MP3 players will hold a couple of gigs, making this function pretty much useless.
Because it has earphone jacks, my wife and I can still listen to our own music/MP3/book on CD while the kids both have their own entertainment. To be clear, we just use this for long trips, and even then it's limited use (1 movie each way to Grandma's house 6 hours away), but not having to listen to anyone fight about which movie goes in when makes it TOTALLY worth it to spring for the two players, in my opinion.
Other comments have mentioned that it doesn't have stellar picture on the second screen if they're sharing a movie. If you're older than 12, you might notice this. For non videophiles, though, it's certainly watchable. I'd say 9 out of 10 on the first unit and maybe 7 or 7 1/2 on the second. (Note to Philips: it really wouldn't be hard to make the two units connect by HDMI or another digital method instead of the lame 1/8" A/V analog one.) Is it sleek and glossy? No, but again, you're not really paying for design here, right? Another minor negative is that the car power cord is a little thin, so you'll need to be careful with it. Also, the way it mounts to the headrest is a little flimsy; it's a little loose for my taste, but it's secure enough, I suppose. Also, be aware that these likely won't fit in most dual screen bags -- even those for 9" players -- because the dual players are thicker than 1 screen + 1 player.
With that said, we're definitely happy with the purchase. To their credit, Philips provided two AC adapters, so if you were going to a hotel, both kids could watch different DVDs in different rooms. Presumably this would work at home as well, though we don't watch that much TV as a family that we're willing to give a 5th and a 1st grader their own DVD players. For occasional travel in the car, though, it works great.

I purchased this item to replace an older set of 7" (of a different brand) that no longer worked. We really put it to the test with a 16 hour road trip shortly after the purchase. They were great. Very easy for my two kids (ages 5 and 7) to use. They loved the option to watch the same or different movies. I concerned buying another set of 7" but after seeing the difference in store leaned toward the 9". The difference was a lot more than you would think. We also love the fact that the movie did not start over when they turned off. Also, we used them inside with the ac adapter and it stood very well and attached very easily back into the vehicle.

This was a great buy for my fam. I originally bought it for my son to have one in daddys truck and one in my car, but we just adopted my niece so now both screens are in my car. They love it. I have no complaints it is my best buy this year so far.

We have two little ones (3yr old and 18 month old). This dvd set allows them to watch their own movies. Easy to use, great picture, good sound. Great purchase for trips and long rides.

So happy w/ the TV's. The pic. is great. I love that they have built in speakers and that you can watch the same movie or two diff. ones It's also great that you can take them out to bring inside to watch movies on. GREAT for road trips and hotel stays!! VERY happy w/ them, no complants at all!!

I bought this product to simply pacify my kids during a recent trip out of town. I loved the fact that they could watch their own movie. Hookup was easy for playing one movie on both screens and one on each screen. I personally got the 9in. version and the kids love it. The audio and picture are just as great. No problems what-so-ever! I think it was welll worth the money spent. Product came with everything to get going: headrest straps, AC adapter and car adapter. Didn't need to buy anything but a couple new movies.

I bought this so my grand daughter could watch movies on road trips, quit working on the 1st dvd, switch players and still would not work. I would not buy this product. I will be returning.

I was really excited about these but one of them won't play anything. They will share a a movie but one is messed up and won't play the dvd by itself. I got these because they were dual dvd players where my kids could each watch a separate movie. My kids are 7 and 2 and they don't always like watching the same movie. I will say Philips was great and really worked on trying to fix the problem but it just wouldn't work so they are sending me new ones and sending a shipping label to send these back. So, hopefully they will work right. If not I won't be happy.

This is fantastic!! I have a baby n a toddler and they both watch different movies with no problem.
volume is fine, cables are long enough, and very easy to use.

After having many bad experiences with portable DVD players I read many reviews and took a chance on these. At first I was a little leary about the fact that they have no batteries. But then again the batteries always failed in my old ones.
We have had these for about a month and use them ALL the time. My son uses his in the car and because they come with AC adapters for the house I can now watch/listen while i'm in the kitchen cooking. I also let my son set one up in his room as a fun movie night once. I love that you can use these either in the house or vehicle and either as 2 seperate DVD players or as two players playing 1 movie. Well worth the price!!!!

Very good DVD players. The only downfall is that the power cord that plugs into the outlet in the car could be longer, designed better or have two seperate cords, so you can power both dvd players when they are in two different rows in a van. Side by side they are great. All in all they are great for different age/gender kids so they can watch what they want.

This dual sreen DVD player works great. Very easy to install! The only thing missing from this product is a remote control. It is very easy to use without but if Philips added a remote to this package it would make it just that much better. Dual screens are great but if you don't have a need for both then just go with a single screen system. I only have one child, a 21 month old girl and really just didn't need a second screen but it is nice to have if you have an extra passenger in the back. My advise to any parent is buy the Blu-ray disks that come with a regular dvd (if you have a home Blu-ray player). Having the disk package lets you keep a library in your vehicle and in the house. Depending on your vehicle, you may be able to hide the pwr cable and video cable. I have leather seats and there is a lip on the back side that I was able to tuck the thin cables into with no problems. The only exposed area is where it goes from the bottom of the seat to the cigarette lighter pwr socket. Do make sure you have a pwr socket near the back of the front seats otherwise you will need to run one. I have owned this for a couple weeks with no issues to speak of. I hope this review will help you out. I wish they had these when I was a kid!!

Bought this product for a long trip with two children, absolutely the best money I have spent in a while. Love they can watch the same movie or different movies at the same time. Very easy to use, my 3 year old uses it with ease. Very happy with this purchase!!!

3 things that are importand to me having a flat screen for hanging and it had it, having a battery so you can take 1 player out of the car or keep it on your lap it dint have it and a remote it did not have it. I do not know what this company does not make any of their produst with these features its a shame because I loved the sound and the dual dvd players but any time they moved they would glitch off. So I retured them.

We bought this item for a long road trip with our kids. It was GREAT! Also great to have just driving around town. Love that they can both watch the same DVD or can watch separately. Loved that they hooked to back of the headrest so we didn't have to worry about the kids holding them or knocking them over. Would DEFINITELY recommend! Great deal for the price too.

My wife and I just purchased a minivan and this was one of the first products we bought for it. I ordered this on Wednesday and it was delivered on Thursday which blew me away. We just took a 300 mile+ round trip and these DVD players were a God send. Our boys are 4 and 5 and both loved that they could choose their own movie. We also invested in some wired headphones and a audio cable we can also use to plug them into the van Aux jack. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to maintain their sanity when traveling with young ones!!!

The first DVD player I bought from Philips was the cheaper model that looks exactly like this one. I ordered it online and it arrived quickly, but once setup in the car it played a DVD for about 30 seconds and then started saying bad disc, I switched DVD's and it still said bad disc no matter what movie I put in, the other player it came with also had the same problem. I got a good 5 minutes out of that one and I finally returned it. I bought this one which is like $40 more, and it works perfectly. I have no clue what the difference is/was or if I got a dud, but the cheaper one wouldnt play and this one does and it plays good. Has very good volume.
