Another Great Canon Camera

I was looking for a upgrade to my PowerShot A2000, to take on our upcoming Alaskan cruise. I bought this early, so I'd be well used to it by then. It's been very easy to use, even as I force myself to take more manual photos with it. It's much more portable than my Canon EOS Rebel T3. I like that it takes AA batteries!

Love my red camera--not only the color is sharp, but takes great photos. The zoom is perfect for my work & has the date stamp which I desperately needed. It is uncomplicated & lightweight. Its a little tough to handle single handed, but am working on it. I heard this camera eats batteries, so invested in rechargable ones with an ultra fast charger. Its when you need the flash that depletes the charge. I use my Canon every day, am a Realtor & have to take drive-by pictures & do interior inspections. I needed a camera that is easy to handle & would recommend this to other Realtors as well or anyone who wants a great camera that won't break the bank.

Takes wonderful photos, easy to use. Only cons are that is DOES eat batteries and you have to remember to flip up the flash when you want to use it. I will try the lithium batteries soon. I used Energizer AA alkaline and took a dozen photos and two or three very short video clips before getting the 'needs batteries' signal. I took several other photos after that with no problem, without replacing the batteries.

NEVER use alkalines in digital cameras
Posted 09/26/2012
You should use no LESS than a lithium battery, no less than 2000mAh. I use Energiser Advanced or Ultra lithium batteries. Pricey but worth it. They last easily 3x what alkalines do. Just FYI and others'.

I have owned small, slim cameras, but couldn't get that 35mm look and feel. This is a great compact camera. It can still fit in your pocket (better for a purse). Amazing pictures. Professional looking pictures.

I bought this camera online so I didn't have a chance to test it in a store. I bought it because I felt the Canon name could be trusted without a test-run. Was I ever wrong!!! I'm not a professional photographer or anything, but even I could tell that the pictures this camera took were horrible. This camera stinks...I took it back to a Walmart store for a full refund and bought a Nikon after I tested it in the store. Big improvement on quality of photos.

I love it. It is exactly what I wanted and works beautifully. It is very easy to use and your pictures come out great. The only problem I will have is watching how I use the zoom lense. I took a close up picture of some flowers using the zoom lense and got a perfect picture of the house half a block down from us...the flowers turned out well also.

I got the camera because of the high zoom. When I received the camera was impress with the zoom but the fact that I had to manually pop up the flash was a bit annoying. The weight of the camera makes it feel cheap. On a good note the pictures it took were great quality. I ended up return it it after using it once.

I got this camera for Christmas. I searched online for a good point and shoot camera that was low priced. I got exactly what I asked for but was extremely disappointed when I used it. the flash has to be pulled up by hand. The camera does display a message when you need the flash. the body is all plastic, very cheap looking. I didn't see any way to set the ISO or reduce red-eye. the shutter is hard to press down which makes the camera shake which in turn results in blurry pictures. Settings are hard to get to, you have to go to the menu first. In order to view your pictures you have to turn the dil then it shows pictures really small with close-ups of certain areas of the picture also shown in the screen. I was going to take this thing back but by the time I remembered it, it was too late. Since it came from Wal-Mart I assumed I had 90 days to return it but the receipt said digital cameras have to be returned withing 15 days. I found the receipt after 16 days-one day too late. this camera is not a good value for $200! I would lik nothing better than to trade this thing in on something tht's more like a camera than a toy!

The pictures are clear, the zoom is phenomenal, and there are so many fun features to play with. I had read that the Canon SX150-is was the next best thing to an SLR... and I totally believe it now! If you want to get an amazing camera at a reasonable price, this is it! Buy high-quality rechargeable AA batteries and you will be set.

I am really happy with this camera! It takes good pictures that are clear and bright - I leave the flash on auto and it rarely uses it, even indoors. The display screen is big and makes it easy to see exactly what the picture looks like. The delay is minimal when the picture is being taken, so it is fairly easy to capture the picture you are trying to capture before everyone or everything moves. My one complaint, which others have mentioned, is that the flash does take a few seconds to reset after the picture is taken, but that time diminishes with the use of lithium batteries, and isn't any worse than any other camera I have owned. Overall, I am very impressed with the quality of this camera for the price! And I don't say that about many cameras!

My wife and I bought this camera for the purpose of taking pictures of our newborn. While the baby hasn't arrived, we did find some time to take some quick shots to test the quality. Sitting on my sofa about 7 feet away from my Christmas tree, I zoomed in on an ornament. With the flash on, I snapped the shot. By looking at the picture, you wouldn't be able to tell if I was standing right in front of it or from where I was sitting. The anti-shake feature is to thank for this. Because of this quality, we decided to use the camera on a tripod to take our holiday pictures. We printed these out at Walmart and everybody asked where we had them done! The battery issue described in the other reviews can be a problem, but it didn't die on us while taking well over 30 shots for our holiday pictures. We did buy the energizer ultimate lithium batteries when the included batteries die. All in all, this is a fantastic product and I'm glad I bought it. No complaints here!

Easy to use. Great features. Takes great phtographs. However, it eats batteries. I recommend the Canon rechargeable batteries. If you are doing studio shooting, the AC adapter is a good way to save on batteries.

This camera is a great camera if you dont want to ever use the flash. It takes great pics in the daytime. When using the flash after every pic. the flash has to recharge which takes around 10 secs. or longer. That may not seem that long but when your trying to get pics. or a 5 and 3 year old doing something you pretty much miss everything. It also eats up batteries. I put the batteries in that came with it and I took maybe 100 pics and the batteries were almost dead.

Flash recharges in 2 seconds at most on my sx150
Posted 11/20/2011
I use energizer ultimate lithium batteries and it makes a world of difference in both number of photos (over 700 on one set) and flash times (2 seconds at most). This is a fine camera and is the best bang for your buck. Just because someone does not know much about this camera it deserves a 5 star rating and not a 2 star.

Batteries
Posted 11/19/2011
If the camera came with regular alkaline batteries then I can see the problem your having with the flash needing to charge back up. Regular alkaline batteries dont have the refresh rate needed for high drain devices like digital cameras. Use either lithium or rechargable high capcity NIMH batteries. Regular alkaline batteries are fine for like a TV remotes or other non high drain devices. Lithiums arent rechargable but can last for alot of photos with the flash NIMH probably not quite as long but you can recharge them.
