I use them for playing paintball and communication is great, I had difficulty keeping the earbud in my ear while running but my sons stayed in his ear without any problem. Sound quality was excellant.

I got these for my 6 year old because he is addicted to army/soldier play. He LOVES them! They are cute, easy to use BUT...they do NOT have a 23 mile range. Not even a 23 block range! They work perfectly in the neighborhood between the houses for running around and playing but at about a 3 block distnace they get staticy and at less than a mile we get ZERO reception! We live in the flat counntry, small town, no mountains, no big obstructions, just open farm land....these are a GREAT toy or for use in a small area, ball park size maybe but thats it....dont count on these doing you a bit of good if you are out hunting. hiking etc.

BOUGHT THE WALKIE TALKIES AND PUT ONE IN THE HOUSE AND ONE WITH MY DAD SO WHEN HE GOES ON WALKS AROUND THE NEIGHBOR HOOD HE CAN CALL ME. HE DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO USE A CELL OR A CORDLESS PHONE SO THIS IS THE EASIEST WAY FOR HIM TO STAY IN CONTACT WITH ME. ALL I HAVE TO DO IS SET THE CHANNEL AND LOCK IT AND HE IS GOOD TO GO AND I HAVE PEACE OF MIND - ALSO GREAT FOR TRIPS

What more could you want? Motorola makes an awesome product and to whoever came up the the 3-Pack, THANK YOU! The distance on these radios (like any other as well), is only as good as the terrain you are in, so if you live/hunt/play in a flat area, should be great. We don't, but the reach on these radios more than meets our expectations!

Only wish the headset pcs were the over the ear kind with a mouth pc instead of the earbud type. Still it works great. When the curtain was about to open for a performance one night, we were getting some interference and someone nearby was on our channel. We changed frequencies and instantly had clear reception and no more interference! Great for local community theater for communicating to backstage crew, sound crew and lighting crew!!

Good quality and reliable but limited range

Manufacturer says these have a 1 mile range in an "urban" setting, 6 miles in the 'country' and 21 miles if you're on top of a mountain and the receiving party is in the desert below you. Maybe, but I found they have spotty reception in some areas when less than a mile away in the semi-wooded countryside of Minnesota.
Downside of the charger - You are only supposed to recharge the batteries for 12 hours, but the chargers don't turn off and leaving them on too long eventually 'cooks' the batteries and wears them out sooner. Putting the charging base on a timer does not solve the problem, as leaving the radios on a charger -- even if the power is off -- drains the batties (though slowly). Would be nice if the charging base shut off AND stopped draining after 12 hours.
With this particular package, there are three radios and one charger, so if you need all three re-charged within 12 hours, you are SOL -- Another 12 required for the third radio. Motorola sells an extra charging station for about $25, if you think you want to charge all three at once.
Battery life is good, though, at least when the battery packs are new -- 6 to 8 hours.
It's also an advantage that the rechargable batteries are easily removed and can be replace by three AAA's, so you can just keep going and going if need be.
The signal is clear, and everything on the radio works as advertised.
The earpiece/microphone is nice if you don't want to have everyone hear your conversation, or to enable you to hear the incoming message in a noisy environment. The PPT (push to talk) mics work well, and the voice sounds clear. Not thrilled about the thin foam covers on the earpieces, which don't look they're going to last very long, and then how will I keep the thing in my ear? I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. An over-the-ear piece would be nicer.
Overall I am pleased with the product, and feel that it's a good deal compared to just a single pair of radios and a single charger, which was actually about the same price, as this 3-pack was on sale.
I've use professional Motorola radios for over 10 years while associated with a police department, and these live up to the reputation of other Motorola products.
