My old vacuum no longer had any suction and I finally got tired of my carpet never looking clean so I needed to look at getting something new. I read the reviews for this vacuum and decided I would look at it in the store and compare it with others. After a little debate I ended up buying this vacuum with the intention that if I didn't like it then I would return it. I used it today for the first time and must say that I'm pretty pleased with my selection. There are a few parts that I think could be better. First the hose has the capability to extend, however the base of the vacuum is so light that if you even try to extend the hose, the base will topple over. I got around this by holding the hose in one hand and the vacuum in the other. For small jobs like mine this isn't a big deal, but it would most likely be a pain if you need to use the hose a lot. Also the attachments for hose feel like they come loose pretty easy so you'll have to keep re-securing them. That considered, the hose does have good power and did a great job getting along the edges and under the edge of furniture. The only other downside I found was the dirt bin is a little on the small side so I had to empty it fairly often. On the upside, this vacuum has incredible suction and leaves the carpet looking great. As mentioned in another review the path is a little narrower so it's good for getting between chair legs. All in all, I believe this is good vacuum and as of right now I don't plan on having to return it.

Not a very good Vacuum. Will not pickup, and only had one month and motor stopped working. Dirt Devil will not make good on it because I didn't save receipts. Well Dirt Devil I'm adding you to my list of products I'm black listing.

Besides having to empty the dust bin often I also have to wash out the filter just about every time I use it. I like that it shuts off when it gets over heated. I also have to unscrew the bottom of it and adjust the belt about once a week because the belt came off before. I also take off the bottom black bottom piece because underneath it a lot of hair and dust collects there. For the price I guess it was a good buy but when I get my Costco cash back at the end of the year I am going to use it buy a really good vacuum and I will not be buying from WalMart again.

This is the worst vacuum I've had. After a month and I had to get a new one. Has no suction. Not a good product if you have pets or kids. I have owned other Dirt Devil products that had problem clog areas. This has a simple design so I thought it wouldn't..it just has no power :( I guess you get what you pay for.

i have a very clean home and there are no pets and the vacuum still doesn't pick up well. I have emptied every filter, cleaned hose, etc and still awful and now has a burning odor after only 2 months of minimal usage.... don't waste your money....

I bought this over a year ago. It does a great job and is easy to use and to clean. I just have to empty the contents often to keep the spin going. We have 3 dogs so we have alot of pet hair. It's so easy to pop out the cannister and push a button over the trash can to get rid of the dirt. I love it and would buy again. And I used a Filter Queen for over 20 years....

This vaccum was a huge waste of money. I wish I had checked the reviews before I purchased it. It worked maybe the first 3 times I used it, after that it lost suction, even after cleaning out every single nook and cranny. I have had it for about 6 weeks and WILL be returning it! Not pleased at all. What a huge waste of money

First of all the belt broke TWICE row, the hose is NOT 10 ft long even though it says so on the box. the cord is very short and clogs very easily. THIS IS NOT A PET VACUUM CLEANER.

Used this a couple times, and then the roller stopped working. Opened it up, only to find, the belt was fine, but what should be made of metal to hold the belt on, was made of cheap plastic, and was broken. PLEASE DO NOT BUY!

I bought this vacuum because I was looking to save a few dollars and thought that Dirt Devil was a reliable name as far as vacuums go. How bad could it be, right? Wrong! From day one it had poor suction. It would usually pick up bigger stuff but couldn't seem to get the littlest piece of lint off of the carpet. I would go over it 10 times and then end up picking it up myself in frustration.
After I'd had this vacuum about 2 months, it simply died in the middle of me using it and won't come back on. Now I'm back to searching for a new one and it definitely won't be a Dirt Devil. I'm going to spend a little more money and get something that will last longer than a few months!

I purchased one of these vacuums about two years ago. With in the first year, the hose detached from the vacuum. the company sent me a replacement part. 3months after that, the same piece broke. The company WOULD NOT replace it, they said my vacuum was no longer in warranty, even though the piece that broke was only 3 months old. I had purchased the extended protection plan on it through Walmart. I really wanted to get a better vacuum, but couldn't afford it at the time, so I used it to get another of these. It had been redesigned, so I thought "Well, maybe they made improvements.
In addition to that piece breaking twice, the vacuum was ALWAYS clogging up. I figure it was just that my dog shed too much. But by the time I purchased the second vacuum with my product replacement card, I no longer had pets so thought it should be ok.... Nope. The vacuum STILL clogs up and I haven't had a pet in over a year.
It works well when it's not clogged, but it clogs up almost every time. So if you need an inexpensive vacuum, this will work. Just be advised that you'll be cleaning clogs out of the hose after every other time you use it. At least part of the redesign makes it easier to get the hose off of the vacuum to clean it out. Previously you had to take out like 6 screws, celan it, and then screw it back in. Now there is a tab that you hold down and the part releases.
I have had the new vacuum for about 2 months and plan on buying a GOOD vacuum when our tax refund comes in. I won't buy another Dirt Devil... EVER.

If I could I would give it zero stars. This is the worst vacuum ever. There is no suction whatsoever. I had it on the lowest setting and I have normal carpet, not shag or anything. I put down powder carpet freshener and this vacuum wouldn't even vacuum it up! I had to sweep it up I used it twice before I brought it back. I did some reviews and I bought a cheaper vacuum and that vacuum picked up all of the powder that was stuck in the carpet plus dirt and dust. Even after I used this vacuum TWICE on my carpet. The only thing I liked about the vacuum and the reason I bought it was because of the way the handle went down. I wish another brand of vacuum did that too. I will never buy a dirt devil EVER again.

This vacuum is so easy to handle. I love that it does not require bags. I have had this vacuum for about 2 months now and the only problem that I’ve been experiencing is that it cuts off. I do not know why maybe its just my vacuum but it really annoys me because I have to wait for a couple of minutes to use it again. I would recommend it because it is a great vacuum I just don’t understand why this is happening.

Does not pick up well.Get's clogged easy.The only good feature it has is that if it overheats it has a thermal protector and will stop the vacuum so you have to wait 3o minutes to use it again it is not a vacuum to use everyday,If I had to do this I would have bought a better Vacuum.

I purchased this and was able to vacuum the floor twice before it started making a loud whistling sound and then started smoking. Right after that the belt broke. I replaced the belt was able to get a few more vacuumings and then it just cut off. Won't turn on. I contacted Dirt Devil and they offered to repair it for me if I was willing to drive over 20 miles away to have it repaired. I work retail, most stores aren't open when I get off. I just want a vacuum that works, and this is not it!!

Worked great for about 4-6 months, then it stopped holding suction over time even after being thoroughly cleaned. Finally the plastic piece that holds the roller broke off on one side and it was no longer functional. I have yet to find any vacuum under $100 that will last over a year.

This vaccum is horrible. It doesn't get up anything - all it does is push stuff around. Each time I try to vaccum with it, I end up using a lint roller to get stuff off my carpet. Don't waste your money!

Bought this Vacuum 2 weeks ago the first use it worked good but the 2nd and 3rd use it just does not pick anything up.I am taking it back to the store and going to buy a Eureka that NEVER loses suction!! I would not recommend this vacuum the price is good but not worth it because you will need a new one right away!!!
