I just got my machine and id say it was a pretey good buy. The most suprising part is the lowest setting is still challenging. Im not in bad shape but I think it may be too hard for some people.
Pros: easy to put together, easy to move, works well, sturdy.
Cons: cant feel fan, cant read display, lowest setting is challenging.

Quiet, comfortable, and smaller

Love the size of this elliptical. It takes up much less space than most ellipticals. It's quiet and comfortable to use. You can go at your own pace or do one of the built-in programs and it tracks everything for you. The installation instructions were very clear and the packaging of the parts was outstanding making the setup pretty easy.
My only complaint is the user screen. It's small and hard to read. It's also confusing at first.
One of my favorite things is that my iPad fits perfectly on the magazine rack on the console (see photo). I'd highly recommend this Schwinn 420 Elliptical!

Bought my machine at Wally World 3/28/13. Set it up the next day, between house work and fone calls it took me an EASY 4 hours to set up, I am mechanically I did not need any help . Directions were ok, the pics could have been a little larger. Been using it now for a couple of days and it is QUIET and smooth. First impressions are good we will see how it is in six months. I even got a cup holder with mine.

Construction is good. The wheel came assembled and was making noise. We had to take it apart and remount the wheel, now it works smoothly. One of the hole on the handle bar is stripped, the screw would not tighten. We had to put a bigger screw.

I have had my elliptical put together for 2 days and I love it already. It is much more sturdy than I expected for this price range! I am 5'9" and have long legs, and this machine's stride length is perfect for me. I was concerned about stride length, and spent alot of time researching different machines before we just decided to buy this one. The fan is worthless, but not that big of a deal. I have a floor fan and a ceiling fan I can use. The display is hard to see, but not impossible. After purchasing and sending back another brand of elliptical we are very pleased with this one!

This machine is EXCELLENT I go to Fitworks and get on their Elliptical everyday both kinds and I fell like I'm worked harder on this one than at the gym. I average 168 strides a minute at the gym my heart rate stays around 140 to 150 now I got on the Schwinn 420 on level one my heart rate is at 160 to 172 this machine really pushes you. The only problem I have is that the calorie counter is way off after a 30 minutes workout it said I only burned 87 calories.

The elliptical machine works as advertised. The length of stride is acceptable and the amount of resistance pretty good. The display is marginal...the fan is a joke, the speakers okay...and the display is nearly completely illegible. Others have noted this same complaint. Since I simply use a timer for my workouts, the display isn't that big a deal. The machine assembled well, it did take a couple hours overall, not too difficult. All parts were there and the instructions pretty good...only had to redo one step because I missed one component installation.

I have only had the machine for a couple of days but I love it. It's so quite and was pretty easy to assemble. It's not too overly large and fits in a corner of the room really nicely. It looks like and expensive machine but was not really that bad.

I did a TON of research on different ellipticals at or under $500. I originally wanted the A40 but didn't want to wait for shipping and really wanted the fixed handles so that I didn't always have to move my arms. I have had this for a week and both my husband and I have used it for an hour each day. It's surprisingly sturdy and only took about an hour to put together (with two people). Yeah its hard to see the screen but who cares? And the fan does kind of stink but thats not a make it or break it thing. The ride is smooth, there are a ton of different work outs and 18 levels of resistance! If you want a quality workout without spending a ton this machine is perfect!!

Wrong Parts in box (pedal plates) so I could not finish assembly. I do not know if it is a good product or not yet. I called the company in CA and they said they would send the parts. After I have it and am able to test I can review better.

The left leg, Part 11,the holes are not properly lined upto per mit me to bolt the left pedal to the left leg. The right leg fitted perfectly. I tried using a screwdriver to push the hole into position but it is too misaligned to work.

I purchased this model after researching this one and several others. This is a well-made elliptical machine, and I enjoy working out on it. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 stars was due to the fact that the LCD screen is a bit challenging to read unless under the right conditions. It's reminiscent of the background of a calculator, and for some odd reason Schwinn decided to use an extremely fine font - sans backlighting. So if you are in a well lit area and are close to it, you can read it. Other than that, I love this machine! It's wonderful.

After much research my husband and I settled on this model as it was rated highest by Consumer Reports. They did sell it at our local Dunham's store but it was over $100 more there.
After ordering online and having it sent to our local WalMart it came relatively quickly. Assembly is time-consuming - be very careful to read the directions thoroughly as you assemble. It definately helps to have 2 people to put it together. It is very heavy to move and you have to pick up the back high before you call roll it on the wheels to where you want to have it situated.
The easiest setting was strenous excercise but with practice it will become easier to use. The fan does not give alot of air - needs improvement. Hard to read screen in low light as well.

This is a fantastic machine. It is super quiet, sturdy and high quality. It is a great value for the money. The only drawback is the display. You can read very little because the numbers are soooo small. This could be an improvement, but otherwise great machine. I would rather have a machine that works well. Bought the Gold's Gym 410 or 420 the first time and that was a complete piece of junk, so this is a tremendous upgrade from that.

Overall, the machine works smoothly and has good resistance levels. The only improvements I would make is to make the handlebars closer in, as it is hard to use them when going backwards, and make the screen bigger and clearer. Also, the fan is pretty useless, so it should either be taken out, or vastly improved. But for the money we spent, it's a great deal.

This is a good elliptical for a good price. I am 5'6" and I have no problem with the stride length or the height of the fan. The spot for the kindle is a little high but there is another ledge below that I place books on when I want to read. I very much enjoy this machine. Another thing I want to note it that some people have commented on the display being too small, how ever I have had no problem with it and I have poor eyesight.

I'll be honest, I'm in LOVE with this elliptical. The only thing keeping me from giving it a full 5 stars is that is has a slight noise on one side. It doesn't seem to be effecting the functionality of the machine at all.
That said, this thing is heavy, solid but fits nicely in a small spare bedroom. My husband and I are using it every day!
Walmart's price way about $100 below where I saw it other places. It took about 2 weeks to ship it to the store near me, but it was worth the wait.
If you're on the fence, I'd say, "GO FOR IT!"
