I have had my Nokia E5 for a year now, and love it and Straight Talk. If you are wanting a super fancy phone with all the bells and whistles of an Iphone, etc, then it might not be fore you. It does what I want it to do, and does it nicely. Never will I ever sign a contract with scamming Verizon again. I have had absolutely no problem with service or function of the phone. Ever now and then it may freeze up, but it only requires a restart to solve the problem.

For the most of it the phones is just fine. But for some reason the phone shoots down and powers itself back up. After telling straight talk for mounths they sent me a new phone and on the same day that I got the new one it did the same thing. They would not give me another phone of the same coast as I asked. The people at straight talk really need to work on there customer service. I rate them about a 4 out of 10 at best.

Not that great.

So, I got this phone when I wanted an upgrade from my Samsung R451C. In some area's it was an amazing upgrade, in others...not so much. In this battle Samsung murdered Nokia and the Samsung phone is clearly an older model. This phone has patchy service which I figured when going from Verizon to AT&T. Though, this phone will be sitting in one place, not moving or without change and go from five bars to no service and then seems to lag and can't find service for a good amount of time.
The phone will randomly freeze up and you have to take the battery out. Downloading apps is just a joke, not to mention this phone hardly has any apps anyone would want besides foolish games or gossip sites.
The keyboard was definitely a step down from my Samsung phone. It's cramped, the buttons are too close, the symbols are a pain, as the buttons will randomly switch it to capitals or just act like you never hit it. It's quite frustrating and texting is an irritating process some days.
It also shuts off too easily. If you have to hit the "END CALL" button, which with this phone constantly freezing, you do, and often, it pops up a menu for you sound settings but the first one is "Switch Off" which if you hit, "okay" or the "menu" button, in a hurry to try and get back to whatever you were doing before it froze, it shuts off your phone. Which is quite annoying especially since the phone takes a good amount of time to turn on.
The camera's really not all that great and freezes all the time. I will constantly take cute pictures of my niece and the image will simply freeze the phone and then you have to hit END or take out the battery and the photo is lost. I've pretty much stopped using it all together.
The internet on the phone, without being next to useable WiFi, might as well be nonexistent because most of the time, it is. It won't work or will take forever to load and then just fail to download the page it was working to download in the first place.
The music player will constantly change my music, remove cover art, or get random "errors" on songs that I end up having to re-download.
Also, make sure you exit out of everything when you're done! If you don't it all stays running and slows your phone down before, oh what's this, freezing everything. Which means, you need to remove the battery, again!
The only thing this phone is kind of good at doing is sending texts but careful sometimes it randomly doesn't and won't tell you for hours.
So yeah, heavily considering getting a different phone... Any suggestions?
(I did not pay the Wal-mart price! I believe I got it off straight talk website for 80$. But I did rate the value on here by how much they want for it.)

Loaded with features that are hard to find and I like simple not complicated - alarm clock should be a menu item and not located in an obvious (not!) location like applications - gives you the option to "move" icons for features but doesn't actually move them anywhere - cannot adjust vol by pressing up or down buttons on phone you have to actually go into settings to do that (unless I have a malfunctioning phone...)

I bought this phone over a year ago and I decided to finally write a review. This has been a great phone. It is easy to text on and there is a lot you can do with it. I use it as a music player, camera, and I can go on Facebook and Twitter and other websites. There are a lot of apps you can download via the Nokia Store and a lot of them are free and the others only cost like a dollar. If you are looking to buy this phone, I definitely recommend it.

Review 8 for Straight Talk Nokia E-5 GSM Smartphone
This is a great phone with wonderful service from StraightTalk. This phone hardly uses any battery. I have it set up with a slideshow background that changes the picture every minute, and the battery still stays full all day. There is a huge variety of skins and covers for this phone on Amazon. I have it customized with a polka-dot decal skin! The keyboard is easy to type on one-handed. You could hold a baby on your hip and text at the same time if you need to, for example. The internet is good quality on it, and you can install a different browser for free if you want from the Nokia Ovi application store. If you don't want Google or Apple tracking your every move, go for this Nokia phone instead! Also if you don't like touchscreen typing, try this with its easy-to-use keyboard. Do it! It also has a great 5-megapixel camera with a bright flash. I love it. I will be keeping this phone a long while!!

This is a pretty nice phone for those that don't do a lot of online stuff with it. That said, Nokia intended it as a replacement for the E71, and it fails hard in that respect. The phone is much less durable, and battery life could be better, but all in all it is a good phone, it's just no E71. Nokia's new all-metal E6 fills the role of a suitable replacement for the E71 much better, and I reccomend holding off until straighttalk offers the E6 if you already have an E71, or need E71-class durability and reliability.

When I first got this phone I loved it. However after 6 months I had to replace it because I stopped receiving notifications when I received phone calls and text messages. Now 6 months later my replacement phone is doing the same thing as well as locking up constantly. It also restarts by itself occasionally.

I bought this phone thinking that it would be a smartphone. I was wrong. It freezes about 4x a day, the text alert and vibration alert stopped working so I have no idea when I get a text unless I just randomly check my inbox. The facebook app doesn't work well. When you want to upload a picture you have to go to the app FIRST and THEN take the pic instead of just being able to upload from your phone's memory or SD card. The email feature worked for about 2 days and now I can't even get on it. The google app doesn't work. I've had this phone for about 3 months and I'm already sick of it. It was not worth the money or time I spent and will probably never buy a nokia again.

Love this phone. I got it because I was going on a three week camping trip with my Dog, Cat, Turtle, and Beta Fish. We had a balast and the built in voice activated GPS works wonderfuly. Other phones I looked at didn't come already activated free in the phones. When I chose this Straight Talk Nokia E-5 GSM smartphone, I got alot more then just a phone... I would recomend this phone to anyone in the market. I also love the straight talk service right price for the right plan.

I recently switched from Sprint. Was paying over $90.00/month to share 500 minutes and no texting or data among 4 phones. I purchased this phone directly from Straight Talk for $25.00 as it was a refurb. It arrived within a few days and has worked perfectly. The keys are a little small & take some getting used to. Most outgoing calls will be in the contact list anyway, so no big deal there. The menus are pretty easy to navigate and there are lots of free apps in the Nokia Store. Going on-line is very easy. I'm just personally not used to viewing websites on a phone, so there is a learning curve for me.
The user's manual is very long and not the easiest to understand. The best instruction I have seen is an interactive tutorial on this site: http://tracfone.deviceanywhere.com/straighttalk/home.seam?custId=STNKE5G&locale=en_US It is much easier than trying to read the manual. These tutorials are available for all the ST phones. Just Google search "Nokia e5 tutorial" or whatever phone you happen to have.
So far I am very pleased with this phone & for $25.00 it was well worth taking a chance. You can get some great covers on Ebay for $9.99

I bought a E5 for the keyboard and size. As it turned out, its one of the best phones I have ever owned. I now have a Samsung S2 on straight-talk (new) but its large and by NO way easy to use. In my opinion the Nokia E5 is a great for text, limited internet and ease to carry..
But there are so many other features and the ease of use far. The number one reason to buy this phone is it is THE MOST DURABLE phone they sell. I have used this phone on my construction site and its never failed; water...dirt...shock.. its still works.

I mostly like this phone. However, sometimes the internet freezes up on me and that is annoying. Another annoying thing that happens is that sometimes when I am texting a lot, the keypad freezes up. I then have to reboot the phone. And after a reboot all is well again...usually.

Awesome Phone!

I originally wanted an android but at the time (June 2012), there were no androids available for my zip code (57783). So, I decided to go with this Nokia and I am so glad I did! I admit it, I still want an android, but this phone has lessened that blow considerably. The call quality is amazing, tones are rich, pictures taken with the camera are great quality for a cell phone camera (cannot shoot things very close up, though).
I did have issues with the text message alert tone not working over the past month. I Googled the issue and I found that it was quite common for this phone. Most people were able to get the tone working simply by deleting massive quantities of text messages from their SIM card. I didn't have the messages saved to my SIM so that didn't work for me, but I did call Straight Talk's tech support and they were able to talk me through the solution. It worked and I haven't had an issues since. I don't expect technology to be perfect, so I don't get too bent out of shape if something happens every now and then. And so far, that's the only quirk that I've experienced with this phone! I would definitely recommend this phone to anyone wanting to switch to Straight Talk!
P.S. There are a ton of phone covers for this phone available on Ebay.
