For the cook who is busy all day but wants a home-cooked meal, this Hamilton Beach slow cooker is the answer. With the Set & Forget Programmable Slow Cooker, technology takes a leap forward from the outdated slow cookers found in yesterdays kitchens. This 6-quart slow cooker has three choices for easy, automatic cooking: program, probe and manual mode. On busy days, program the cooking time and Set & Forget Hamilton Beach Slow Cooker automatically shifts to keep warm when the cooking time is up. Cooking a large cut of meat like pot roast or pork tenderloin? Insert the probe, set the desired meat temperature and the Hamilton slow cooker automatically shifts to keep warm when the temperature is reached.

This was an early Christmas gift from my husband and I have already used it twice and LOVE it! It is exactly what I wanted: large capacity, portable, programmable, and affordable! The temperature probe is a bonus! No more guessing! In fact, I am cooking a duck in it right now!!! I have already recommended it to a friend of mine. Oh, and I did purchase the two year warranty (just in case), which was only $5. Seemed like a "no-brainer" to me!

Despite negative reviews I wished myself luck but man it stopped working after I used it for the third time. I was quite happy with this crockpot because of all the available features and build, until it broke which was a huge disappointment.

Review 3 for Hamilton Beach Set 'n Forget 6-Quart Slow Cooker
I have only used this twice since purchasing it about 2 weeks ago and I love it! One of the reasons I rarely used my old Crock Pot was because it was so small. Being 6 qts., this one is large enough to cook a whole chicken or beef roast in along with the vegetables to complete the meal. The programming is a snap and the temperature probe an added nicety. I am 100% satisfied.

Review 4 for Hamilton Beach Set 'n Forget 6-Quart Slow Cooker
Our son got one for his house and we saw it in action then ordered ours. First thing we cooked was a whole chicken. Put balled up foil in the bottom to hold the chicken off the bottom and drained juices, stuck in the thermomiter, cooked on automatic and it came out perfect. Cooked beans and sausage yesterday, again very good. We love it and plan on using it a lot. We are retired and not in a hurry, but still don't like to fuss in the kitchen all the time for just the two of us. This works great.

Review 5 for Hamilton Beach Set 'n Forget 6-Quart Slow Cooker
Nice and big (and therefore bit heavy), but love the lid that seals tightly for ease of taking to potlucks. Like the digital controls/settings. Haven't tried the temperature probe yet.

Was a little disappointed in the quality when I unboxed the cooker. The controls started blinking after 2 uses and eventually would just shut the cooker off after about 5 minutes. So much for integrated circuitry - you are much better off getting one with a rotary switch -- less expensive and less to go wrong. Also has a short chord.

Freezer and Bulk Cooking Budget Phenomenon!

I absolutely love this product. I bought it just two weeks ago and have already made a Garlic Chicken, 1.5 gallons of chili, 1.5 gallons of Chicken Dumpling Stew and 1.5 gallons of Chicken Noodle Veggie soup for just pennies on the dollar for what I would pay buying these meals pre-made or going out to dinner. It's also great because most of what you make in batches, you can freeze for later. We are two busy professionals that love food, but refuse to spend a full grocery budget on eating out and fast food. This product gives us the opportunity to prepare healthy, filling, tasty meals....and we know the exact ingredient content. I don't have to call someone to deliver the food and it requires very little involvement by me once everything is prepped and in the pot. I love that it includes the meat thermometer and I have a choice to have the cooker go to warm only when it reaches that temperature or I can put it on for a certain period of time. The size is great. I had 5 family members over for Cincy 3- way chili the first batch I cooked, and I still had enough for chili dogs through the week, provided the couple next door with dinner and I have some in the freezer for the next time we want some. Great product and quality construction. I hope that it lasts for a very long time.:)

I love my slow cooker

I was going to simply pick up the cheaper model, but I know from experience that slow cookers tend to last forever. So I treated myself to the good one. I haven't had occasion to use the thermometer yet, but the timer comes in handy and I find that using this baby helps me eat healthier. I'm more likely to cook at home when I can just throw everything in the slow cooker and let it go. Also, its larger capacity lets me double a recipe easily. I freeze the leftovers in individual containers then just pull a home cooked meal out of the freezer and throw it into the microwave.

I've used this twice so far. I just got it. It was wonderful and I plan to buy a second as my other crockpot, also a Hamilton Beach, is not programmable. This is all I want now. Great Product!

Review 16 for Hamilton Beach Set 'n Forget 6-Quart Slow Cooker
One of my favorite features of this slow cooker is that is has the temperature probe. The desired temperature is programmed and the cooker turns to warm when the food reaches that temperature. This is great for pork loin, chicken breast, turkey breast and even meat loaf!! These types of meats typically do not do well in the slow cooker with out the probe. I love everything about this slow cooker!!!!

Made my chicken and veggies taste terrible...

Haven't had a slow cooker in many years, my wife recently decided she wanted a new one. This was the only one I found that met her criteria...programmable, switch to warm when meal is cooked, probe, and easy carry lid seal. Ordered it. Upon arrival I washed the pot and lid per instructions and proceeded to cook a whole chicken and vegetables (new potatoes, baby carrots, onion, celery). We used the probe in the chicken, set the machine on "probe" and 180' and it cooked everything to perfection. Chicken was "falling off the bone" tender. My wife thought the whole meal was delicious and was ecstatic about the machine. I found that, to me, the chicken and the vegetables had a very disagreeable flavor. I can't explain it, but I couldn't force myself to eat much. Everything had a terrible aftertaste that I can only attribute to the rubber gasket seal on the lid. As I said, she loved the machine and the meal, I loved the machine but the meal made me want to vomit. She decided not to try another meal in it that I probably wouldn't be able to eat, so it's going back. We'll be looking for a programmable one without a rubber lid gasket. This is the only one I know of that has a probe (which worked nicely). Guess we'll have to give that feature up as well. Apart from the flavor problem for me, we both liked the cooker a lot. It was easy to program, and cooked well. The rubber seal on the lid probably would keep your meal in the crock during travel, although I didn't test to see how leakproof the lid really is. It did cook a very tender chicken and veggies with the probe that my wife loved but I couldn't eat. I have no explanation, maybe it's just me, maybe it was just a one time thing, but thought I should post this. Good luck...
