I have had an Electrolux since 1980, a true believer. I knew it was time to switch as the power head on my old "lux" was giving out and replacement was ridiculous. I did a lot of research for the top rated vacuums and found this one next to the top for a really good sale price! I have had cats my whole life and now have a black, long hair and he is shedding all the time. I got my Dyson just moments after I had vacuumed so I assembled it and started it up!!! I am sick that so much was left in my two rugs! My dust problem has also decreased substantially. Love my Dyson

I was excited when I first bought my Dyson. I worked great on hardwood and carpet, picked up well in corners, and had great handtoold for my fur filled houses. It's heavy and doesn't do stairs well but it worked like a dream in every other way, so I overlooked the negative; like the upholserty brush that didn't attach to the machine. After the first year, I noticed it breaking down little by little. First, I started having to go over an area a couple times. Then, I got some dirt blowback on my feet with finer dust. Corner pick-up wasn't as easy as it used to be. I found myself having to use attachments to pick up what I'd swept down the stairs. Then, out of the blue, it made this strange noise, like the motor was powering down, then it died. I did the usual manintanance and searched the hoses for clogs. Husband even used an air compressor to blow out all the parts, hoses included. Now, it runs for 10 mins at a time and will only pick up if I use attachments. After spending $400+ dollars, I have a useless piece of junk that cost me over $200 per year to run. I'll NEVER buy another Dyson.

I was going to buy a hoover windtunnel (pet hair ) for my son's pet hair problem- as it had a very good rating in consumer reports. This Dyson pet hair model was rated only average in picking up hair. I bought the dyson because that was what he wanted and he loves it. It picks up hair better than their old hoover (which wasn't for pet hair). It was a lot more money than the Hoover, but with his allergies etc, it was worth it.

I did a whole lot of research before purchasing this Dyson Animal. I am so happy I choose this model. I could hardly wait to use it when it arrived at my door! In my research, I looked at many stores looking for the best deal. This particular model was the same price everywhere I looked. The bonus I found purchasing from Walmart was you had several additional cleaning kits to choose from at no additional cost. These kits ranged from $40- $60 dollars extra if purchased seperately. It shipped right to my door (no additional shipping fees within days) I love it! Trust me you will too! I am very picky, take my cleaning pretty serious!

This is by far the BEST vacuum I have ever owned (and I have had many) for my two dirty, shedding dogs and one cat. It picks up everything and is easy to use with self storage for all of it's attachments! I have another very costly vac that can't come close to this Dyson. If I had any wish it would be that it was lighter and that the cord was longer.

What a differance , I have like new carpet now. My old sweeper must have been doing nothing. I couldn't believe my eyes, the dirt that the Dyson was picking up from my carpet. Very well pleased with my purchase.

Hose is pretty stiff and how the hose is stored on the vacuum is somewhat odd. Great suction and auto height change works great when changing from carpets to rugs to floors. I have a puggle which sheds alot so this vacuum works great. I was upset though on the condition of the packaging when delivered from fedex the box was destroyed. Not sure if it was Walmart our fedex.

I bought a DC41. That's over $600 for a vacuum.
It did "OK" for about 1 week. Had issues picking up half a pellet
of cat food from my hard wood floors. It wouldn't pick up my long haired cats fur unless I went over it 3-4 times to pick it all up.
We have a wood fireplace and random SMALL wood pieces will get on the carpet from hauling wood inside to burn. The Dyson wouldn't pick those up on the carpet unless I went over them slowly 2-3 times. Forget about it if it was on the hardwood floors. I had to SWEEP before vacuuming...kinda makes the hardwood floor cleaning option pointless!
I have 3 cats, and a 3000+ sq.ft. home.
I am a VERY clean person and would vacuum every 2 days. I expect a $600+ vacuum to do everything I want it to!

I was not impressed, so I returned it and bought the Bissell Total Floors Pet vacuum instead

It DOES EVERYTHING I WANTED: Cleans hard wood & tile floors while picking up everything without hesitation. Has a convenient foot pedal button to turn the brush off. Has all the attachments the Dyson had. One swipe and the cat hair is gone. Nice Febreeze filter makes the whole house smell wonderful. Much easier to clean out after use than the Dyson.
I am SUPER impressed with THAT vacuum, especially for the GREAT price!

So far I like the Dyson Animal. The other vacuum I was using smelled really bad if you vacuumed 1 time and then a few days later vacuumed again. The Dyson has a really good filtration system that WORKS! Thanks Dyson!

This is my second Dyson. No other vacuum seems to match what the Dyson can do. I'll admit that I had to get used to the whole ball idea, but after a few times I actually like it. Also, it makes the body of the vacuum smaller and lighter compared to older Dysons. I have 2 big dogs, a cat, and I myself have long hair that sheds everywhere. This vacuum gets a serious workout. But it works well and seems to get all the fine dirt. The thing I wish Dyson would've left alone would be the hose and attachments. They're just a little awkward to use compared to the older model, but they work just as well. If you're new to Dyson, you won't be disappointed. If you're familiar to Dyson, you'll adjust to some of the modifications, but in the end will not be disappointed either. Bottom line - still a great vacuum.

Best vacuum we have ever owned. Picks up incredible amounts of hair and dirt our other vacuums can't pick up. Very well engineered and easy to use. Much quieter than our other vacuums.

This is the second Dyson we have had and it is much lighter and more maneuverable than the first one. We have two golden retrievers and three kitties in our house and it is the best at picking up dog and cat hair. We have light carpeting in the house and sometimes the dogs bring in mud on their feet. We just let it dry and the Dyson picks up all the dirt and the rug cleans up completely. I would recommend this sweeper to anyone with pets, because it is amazing! We now have a
Dyson on both the first and second floors of our home. You can see at a glance how much dust and dog hair, etc. has been picked up and it is so easy to empty.

We used it on our oriental rugs as soon as it was delivered and were amazed at how much cat hair and other dirt it picked up even though we had cleaned fairly recently with our older vacuum. The rugs even looked better. It is noisy, but we were not surprised since I suspect that any vacuum with a very strong suction is probably going to be loud. it is very convenient to use with the extra long cord and hose and telescoping wand. We have only had it about 3 weeks, but so far we like it very much.

I LOVE my Dyson (DC41) I received it as an early Christmas gift, and I am in awe about the performance of this machine!! I have another vacuum which cost me an arm and half a leg, that is supposed to be a high grade vacuum. I purchased it from a door to door salesman who came into my home and did a presentation with the machine he was selling... and I have loved the vacuum, but have never used any of the extravagant attachments (ie. leaf blower, wood sander/massage tool, paint gun) as much as it all "sold me" it's just awkward to do any of that stuff with a large vacuum in tow lol. I also THOUGHT my beloved machine was powerful... UNTIL I got my new DC41!! I have two large dogs (Rottweiler and bull mastiff) and a cotton ball white long hair cat, so vacuuming is the "norm" in my home. I decided to do THE test, after using my other machine, I used my new DC41 and Holy Dog Hair!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!!! i "Thought" my floors were clean, but boy was I ever wrong! I ended up doing my floors until the canister was empty! I read other reviews about the vacuum being kind of "hard to put together", But I had no problems. The only concern I have is with the tool kit that should have come with the machine, but Walmart doesn't carry them, so now I have to see about getting the rest of my online order sent to me. At least my floor is clean in the mean time :) I would HIGHLY recommend this vacuum! the POWer is incredible! I hope is lasts and lasts!! Thank you to my boyfriend for the awesome Christmas gift!!!

First, I purchased a carpet shampooer and cleaned my carpet about 2 months ago. A few weeks ago when I received the Dyson, I vacuumed 2 rooms with my old vacuum, and then immediately with the Dyson. I had to empty the bin twice more! My dog has short hair, but after using this vacuum, I can't believe my dog isn't bald. I got enough hair to make another dog! It's just gross to think how nasty my carpet was before this.

I like it because it is the quietest vacuum I've ever owned. I'm owned by 2 Siberian Huskies that shed on a scale of 1 to 10 shed at 11, this vac sucks up the hair with ease. The accessory groom tool was a important factor for me going with the Dyson. The hose is plenty long enough so when using to groom the Huskies they are not bothered by the noise which is minimal any how. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would spend $500 for a vacuum cleaner but I'm glad I did.

A must have for pet owners. I thought my Hoover was doing a good job of cleaning my carpets....haha no way! This vacuum puts all of those brands to shame. I went over my carpets with my old vacuum one more time before using my Dyson, lets just say there was A LOT of stuff my old vacuum missed! I highly recommend this vacuum.

This is an excellent vacuum cleaner! It was delivered fast and once we received the vacuum, it was very easy to essemble! This vacuum cleaner is extremely powerful and sucks up everything! We had to dump the canister 3 times when we first vacuumed with it! We would recommended this vacuum to anyone, especially those with pets!
