of all my research looking for the ten. i have settled on this. seems to have what im looking for. enough room to sleep 4 comfortable and have all the gear storage i need too. for those talking about zippers sticking some time,if you spay the zippers with PAM cooking spray, they will zip smoothly and repel moisture and tarnish, just a suggestion (:

Review 3 for Coleman Cimmaron 8-Person Modified Dome Tent, 14' x 8'
This tent is a replacement for a Coleman that is still in good condition but no longer fits my joint pains(knees and back). Took about 45 minutes to set up the first time by myself. Seems very sturdy and though it is listed as an 8-person capacity model, I'll be using it for one/two people. This tent has a deep 'bathtub' floor, superior ceiling height, nice ventilation and tight fitting fly. The only negative that I have found(and will remedy myself) is that most zippers don't have pulls or only have a pull on one side. Good product!!!

Review 4 for Coleman Cimmaron 8-Person Modified Dome Tent, 14' x 8'
We are relatively beginner campers, and not planning to camp in extreme weather. We have used the tent once so far, on a cubscout family camping trip. It was extremely roomy and has some nice features. It poured rain in buckets throughout the night on our camp out. There were a few very slight leaks, but nothing worrisome, and definitely not for the amount of rain we got. We like it!

I camped in this tent for a weekend that we got about an inch of rain. A little water got in, but I did not have the rain fly tied down and I could tell that it was dripping in from wicking that would not have happened. The main zipper gets caught a lot and I ripped part of the flap that covers the zipper. I know that's normal with tents, but I feel like if it were one piece or at least all on the same side, it would be easier to avoid getting caught. There's lots of room even with 2 queen sized air matresses and I love how airy and roomy it is.

Purchased this tent last week ($119) after doing extensive research. I'll have to say that I am very pleased with this tent. My family and I (wife & two kids) went camping over the weekend and used the tent for the first time. Very easy to set up, we had it pitched in about 25 minutes. Next time this tent will be up in 15 minutes or less! We were camping with several other families and the wind was blowing gusts of 15-20 and it held up quite well compatred to the other wobbly boxes pitched around us. My 14 yr old son said "dad.....look at all of the tents out here and then look at ours. These tents are about to blow away and ours isn't even moving" Anyway, we fit our 2 double height queen air beds in with room to spare for our gear. We did have a little condensation on the inside walls but that was expected as we had the rear flap zipped open for air circulation. With this flap closed you will not get the condensation. I highly recommend this tent for any family of 4. This is supposed to be an 8 man ten and it is not, however I knew this going in and don't care how they classify it. By far the best tent out there for the money! Looking forward to our next camping trip next month!

I bought this tent in May 2012 and used it on a camping trip. Worked well, although the zipper on the entrance/exit looked cheap. Took it camping in August and the zipper detached from the fabric in multiple places and some of the the zipper tooth's broke off. Almost ruined our trip. It was such a pain to zip it open/closed. I have bought many Coleman merchandise with no problems, but this tent was poorly made. I love the space it has, but the construction is just cheap. Don't buy it!

This tent is very spacious, but that's all I will say about it. I used this tent for the first time over the weekend, and the weather was in good condition (40-72F). In the morning and afternoon, it turns into a steaming hot "sauna" inside the tent, and at night, it was quite cold. However the problem came early in the morning. The condensation was gathered on the inner side of rainfly and fell directly into the tent. The water drops went through the top part of tent and got everything wet. I spent almost 30 minutes wiping off the condensation, and then wipe the rest of my belongings. Not the most enjoyable camping trip I was hoping for.

I read the reviews and thought I would give it a try as the tent was affordable and the size listed was big enough for our family of 4. Assembling the tent was easy. I am 5'4" and assembled it by myself with a very small amount of help from my 4 yr old. It took me about 35 minutes and if I would have kept it the next try would have been closer to 15. It was pretty self explanitory. The first thing I noticed once the tent was up was the shape of the tent was not what I expected. The corners were cut meaning the air mattresses we use would not actually fit the tent. The ends of the tent are actually only 6 feet wide not the 8 we really need. I looked more closely at the pictures and I should have noticed that. Not Colemans fault. Just seems like a waste of space to me. All of the pieces by themselves seemed to be of good quality. However, when I first unfolded the tent a hook that connects the tent fabric to the poles was just sitting loose in the bag. I couldn't find a spot on the tent that it might have come from. So...extra? Once the tent was up I noticed immediatley that you can see light right through the seams and the stitching was all really loose and stressed at the points where the pole clips were connected. I think that if you taped all the seams you might be ok with water but i am not so sure that the stitching would hold up for much more than a season or two. The rain fly does not cover the most stressed seams so if you decide on this tent I say TAPE THE SEAMS. We returned this tent and ordered the High Sierra Appalachian Family Cabin Tent instead. Hopefully we will have a better review on that one. If you do very light camping and can deal with the cut corners then you might like to give this a try. If the corners were squared off and our mattresses would fit I might have taped the seams and given it a try for the price. The tent design is great and the ease of assembly earns it 2 stars from me. I honestly expected better quality from Coleman.

Tent was what we were looking for especially at the last minute! We went to a few different Walmart's and found that we couldn't find one in a store so went online. Received it the very next day and found it be at a lower price by approx. $55! Even happier at this point. Tent was easy to put up and take down and kept us dry (rain storm) even though many of our neighbors were drenched. would recommend this tent to consumers.

It says on the box that it takes 15 mins to set it up, wrong! Believe me, it took me about 1 hr + with two people because the frame that hold the tent is a paralley frames, not cross like a smaller tent. But once it is done, it is very roomy, easily fits two queen size airbeds, sleep very confortable and it looks very nice too. My kids love to play inside. They wanted to go camping again.

We just used the Coleman Cimmaron 8-Person Modified Dome Tent, 14'X8' tent 5 nights camping, and it was great. 2 adults with a large air mattress, and 1 child with a single air mattress. Plenty of room. I figure an 8 person tent is good for 4 people if you include luggage. A previous review said it is difficult to put the tent back in the bag, but all tents are a tight fit in the bag. They are supposed to be. We have been camping for 14 years, and this was one of the easiest to get in the bag. I always have a gripe with tents with how the zipper will snag. They all seem to do it. This one wasn't too bad. It snagged when I wasn't careful. When I used 2 hands, or angled it away from the material that covered it, it was fine.

bought this tent on July 18th and used it on the 20th. We were so excited to use it but gave us horrible experience. We camped with 3 families and only us got flooded, water came in from the floor. We weren't able to sleep at all. I returned it right after the camping.

Just spent six nights in this tent at scout camp. It rained three times during the week, one time for several hours and the tent stayed dry every time. I do have a few issues with the tent: 1. the dimensions are not 8' as it says. It gets narrower on the ends. It might be 8 feet across the middle section but not the ends, my air mattress touched both sides. 2. Ventilation was poor. I thought the floor vent thing when I bought the tent was a great feature, but in reality, it did little, if anything, to help ventilation. 3. Sleeps 8? I doubt it. Overall, I was pleased with the tent. It is pretty spacious inside and I loved being able to stand up inside it. I'm not sure it will hold up for years and years but for occasional use and less then 8 people, (more like four), it's a pretty good choice.

I camp alot....I am not your one week or weekend camper.....Last summer spent 3 1/2 months in a tent on 2 separate lakes for the US Forest Service.....I test all my tents prior to use....I do not want surprises.......We had Major Storms in our area.....High winds......I put this baby out for the last 3 days......put my gear inside to see what it would look like after 3 days of storms......this tent did not budge......not one drop of rain got inside.....I still wish though coleman would improve the thickness of their floors......they go first......if alot of traffic.....this tent should last years.....I highly recommend though most coleman products.....they are a staple in camping gear.....

I've tent camped for over 30 years now, with 22 years Army Reserve adding to that. Tents these days are made from much different materials, in different styles, and have advanced features that didn't exist when I first started.
The Coleman Cimmaron is a large tent, certainly the largest I've ever used. It's rated for 8 - which in the Army would be accomplished by correctly stacking the inhabitants. Nonetheless, it's certainly roomy enough for 6 and almost luxurious for 4, my intended use.
This tent isn't one to quickly pitch singlehandedly, I previously had a Daisy geodesic that could be put up by one - but it lacked good air circulation, would leak in hard rain, and did not have a coated tub floor. It was at best a fair weather tent. This one is different, with multiple poles that assemble easily, and which provide a lot of headroom. Very little crouching and crawling around is necessary, which a shorter 9x7 "four" man tent would require. The tent assembles easily enough, the rain fly attaches quickly, and the ventilation in full sun on a 93 degree day with 65% humidity was the best I've enjoyed. If there was a breeze, you could feel it, and the heat soak from full sun was minimal, unlike OD canvas. Instead of radiating from the full surface of the fabric, you only feel the directional impact of the sun.
Few sleep their day away in tents in the full sun, but humid nights are a constant hazard in the South and Midwest. The open ventilation, including the ground level vent, ensures you will get some chimney affect to dump the heat, and you can control it when you need.
This isn't a cool weather tent, tho, and we anticipate using it in the high desert at the Grand Canyon. Previous experience has taught me that tents aren't known for their insulation, you reduce the passage of air. This tent does that by zipping all the windows closed - but it's a tradeoff, as the full net roof will allow some heat to escape. I chose this over using one with a cool season ability, because the hot weather circulation is a higher priority with typical summertime vacations.
Overall, the construction shows attention to detail, the cordage is sufficiently strong, but the tent pegs aren't. I'll substitute the more expensive heavy duty plastic pegs as they are nearly hammerproof. A 36 oz dead blow gets the job done in compacted campgrounds. This model has a power cord port, interior pockets, a center ring to hang a light or fan, and a center loft net to hold small items. The net hooks weren't sewn on well, the one flaw I've found overall.
The roof design doesn't drape and pool water, a welcome change to the practice of my fellow soldiers and children timing a good shove on the roof as I pass by. I wonder how they learned that?
In general, I'm pleased with the construction and expected the larger size to be more complicated than a simple backpacking tent. It is, but it goes up with less effort or special technique than the geodesic. It disassembles easily, and if you read the directions, stowing the fly inside the tent makes for a compact bundle to zip into the carry bag, which is superior for handling and travel. Our last tent had a sack that didn't protect it well. I can see this tent will likely serve us better than the last one did.

So I was searching and searching for a tent that we could stand up in, without it being so humongous that it would take up our entire campsite!! I was between a couple tents and this one just seemed like it had a better design.
PROS 1) There's room to stand up and walk throughout the tent. 2) It is still a dome styled tent (which many taller tents are not) so rain and whatever else will slide right off the top without creating pools on top like a flat top/or sharply angled tent would. 3) The structure of the dome is wide but still high. With the curvature of the dome being higher to the top, there's even more usable standing space. 4) Fully lined zippers, bathtub welded floor, great stitching & rain fly = no rain or water leaks! 5) great ventilation, provides a big open back window (without zipper closure) which is covered by the rain fly for privacy when completely down, or the rain fly can be tied off to the sides for partial window, or rain fly can come off to allow open mesh window to be completely exposed and open. side windows with zipper closures still remain partially private with the rain fly on, and are high enough that outsiders can only see your head anyways. door provides excellent ventilation as well! 6) comes with door mat. I don't think it was mentioned in the product listing, and i really didn't think we would use it, but i'm glad we did... it kept the inside of the tent grass/dirt free! 7) Was just me, my boyfriend, and our dog, but there was a ton of room in there. We had a queen bed, and a dog bed with ample room on all sides of us for our belongings. We even turned the bed after we woke up for the day so we had even more open space to walk around and get dressed ect. (the foot of the bed was on the door side of the tent and the head was by the back window.) 8) I liked the fact that we were able to put our outside belongings inside the tent, just so our things weren't on display while we were gone.
CON (AT FIRST THEN PRO): My boyfriend was hung up on the fact that the tent was going to be huge. WRONG. Any bigger and I think it would take up too much room. The tent is rectangular so it is long, but not too wide (It's as wide as a queen mattress is tall). So it is the perfect size without over doing it, and without taking up the whole campsite!!
BOTTOM LINE: great tent and easy setup! glad I got this one!

My husband and I went camping this past weekend, and we loved this roomy tent. My husband is almost 6 feet tall and can stand comfortably. We had a queen air mattress, a large suitcase, a fan and other odds and ins; all of the things that make life more comfy on camping trips fit in this big boy without making the campers feel crowded. We loved the cord slot, the windows, and the little overhang and door mat. I didn't think that the door mat would prove helpful, but it was so nice and really helped to keep the outdoors, outdoors. We loved the ease of setting up the tent too. If you like family camping, you will love this tent. It is a great value.

this tent is one of the worst i have bought it has the hardest instructions that dont make sense and is so hard to set up i was going to set it up in my yard before my trip next week but it was so hard i just packed it up and tryed to get it in that little bag and trust me you will need another bag once you take it out it isnt going to go back in. the bag is so small and no matter how much you twist it and fold it it will not go back in. hate it
