Review 1 for University Games Murder Mystery Party, Murder at Mardi Gras

The party was fun, but the game was lacking.

Our biggest problem with the game was that it seemed as if parts were missing. At the conclusion key points were brought up (important things about characters that they didn't know, but that maybe one other did) that were "missed" during the other rounds. It made it so finding the murderer couldn't be done by utilizing the clues, but only by guessing. I've played better. Sorry :(

It's occurred to me after playing a different game of theirs, that there are about 2 parts missing to actually pull it off and create something fun. I needed a party for 10, so I added 2 parts that advanced the story, kept continuity, and kind of drove the party event in sync. We had a blast, are getting ready to do it again. I'll say that satisfaction with this kind of thing depends on how crazy your friends are, how much you've had to drink, and what they do with their parts. Not everybody's a thespian (even though I certainly have friends that are "characters"), but good typecasting helps as long as they like to have fun. I modify whatever's in the game kit to make it more closely match my circumstance if needed. All that being said, I still think this is a great product and can be a lot of fun just based on my experience with "Murder at Tall Oaks".
I just today found a rating of all of their party games, and now want to start at the top and work down the list.

I used it for a birthday party for adults ages 21-27. We all had a fun time and dressed the parts. I prepared a New Orleans inspired dinner which was awesome. We read the parts aloud in a circle then during the breaks we mingled and asked questions while eating. I would definetly do another murder mystery party. It comes with another free one as well.
