I just purchased this laptop my first ever I loved it, it was perfect for me. being computor illiterate I learned a whole lot on this laptop I put it on layaway on 10/17/2011 cause I had saved for so long to get a laptop. and then I won 200$ on a scratch ticket I went and got it off layaway right away got it home opened it it was all I could ask for in a laptop I loved it hence the word loved it well I took a trip that someone else paid for to go to ga. to help my daaughter out with her 3 boys and her pregancy and on my way back to mass at the last moment someone stole it off the peterpanbus lines just my luck i guess but i would recomend this for anyone its a good buy and a good deal if you dont have a lot of fiances truly annette a loyal customer

Got this Laptop for Christmas. I couldnt ask for anything more. The only complaint i have is that when your trying to open a program its kind of sluggish but for the price its perfect. Only being a 1GHz Laptop i was sceptical but its perfect.

We bought three of these to help our boys with homeschooling. They are solid and handle everything necessary to watch their school video classes and make reports, etc.
On a less important note: The boys like the windows 7 gadget features and they even handle some of our older PC games... Like Homeworld which they can link together and competitively play once in a while.
Some items I thought about once I bought these was:
They laptop comes with 2G of ram and is up-gradable to 8Gigs. Not necessary, but might upgrade to improve the video streaming.
There is no S-Cable video out feature to connect to a TV with. Not important since it has other ports to use, I just had a S-Cable from an older model.
The CD/DVD Writer is great.
On a less important note: The boys like the windows 7 gadget features and they even handle some of our older PC games... Like Homeworld which they can link together and competitively play once in a while.

We bought this laptop computer for our 14 year old grandson for Christmas, and needless to say, he was thrilled. The laptop was easily set-up before wrapping it. It's sharp looking, with a more than adequate viewing area. Walmart's Black Friday price was excellent, of course, and the Compaq name instills confidence in the machine's quality. They've been around forever. This computer should give Scottie hours of fun and ample homework help. So far, we're all very pleased with the purchase.

If you want to surf the web, ok other than that bought it for my son will not even run webkinz. Extremely slow. Pay a little more and get alot better computer. This is way to slow for anything but web surfing. I have a web book that can do more than this computer. Don't buy it and expect much. Extremely slow

Bought this Laptop on Black Friday, Daughter opened it up on Christmas. Followed steps according to "Quick Set-up" diagram. Lap top is receiving power from the AC, but will NOT turn -on at all. Appears to be the On/Off button will not work. Will be returning this product back to Wal-Mart today....

I got this laptop for Christmas. My mom bought it on black friday, so i dont think you can buy it in stores or online anymore, not sure. I am really happy with this laptop, and would recommend it to a friend. It has Windows 7. It runs pretty fast too. It has a cd slot and three usb outlets. It comes with the charger and instruction manuals, battery, and thats about it. The start up is straight forward and very usful. The keyboard is great. Screen resolution is great too. The webcam isnt too bad for a laptop webcam. I have a wireless mouse with it and it works great! Overall, a great buy for $198!

This excellent budget Laptop has an outstanding 1GHZ AMD Fusion Processor the C-50. At first you look at the specs and say 2GB and 1GHz?!? But better understanding shows the APU styled CPU and Graphics (GPU) combination which AMD labels as GPU runs very efficiently. This computer is going on 3 months old, Never a hangup, over 4hrs battery life on WIFI with screen at full brighness. The DL DVD Burner has no issues with even cheap recordable media. My LG Internal drive in my desktop hates Memorex, however this internal in the CQ57 has no issues with it.
Some are complaining about the speed and if it can play games, etc. Benchmark tests have shown this to play games like WOW on Low settings at 35+fps. Now for a 1Ghz APU, with integrated HD 6000...thats outstanding.

All the users who reviewed this below a 3 star obviously did not look at nor understand what they were getting, what do you expect? they are probabbly trying to run games at ULTRA settings and control a factory off this thing...FORGET IT , its a BUDGET PC, a good one at that.

For the Business exec, college/high schools student, Youtube fanatic, Skype king, or somone that just loves a lounge around laptop, this one is for you, weighs nothing compared to my macbook.
Would definately buy again, I did upgrade from the standard 2X1GB ram sticks to a 1X1 and 1X2gb (mismatched) and runs excellent at 3GB. Memory was only $12 for the 2GB chip online.
Take it from me and everyone else that gave it 4-5stars, its dumb to pass this one over at $248.
