We were setting up the christmas tree and I started to vacuum up the mess only for the vacuum to just cut off. There is no hair in it, no burning smell, it didn't make a weird noise... it just no longer turned on. :/

I have owned my vacuum for over a year now and I have loved nearly every minute of it. I would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the not so great pet powerpaw design. It quite working about 4 months ago because my Siberan Husky's hair continued to get into the little belt and burned it up. But I was lucky and took the one off my moms broken vacuum. I have three dogs and two cats and I love this machine and wouldn't have expected more from it. It isn't the best on the market, but for a reasonably priced vacuum and when you have pets it works great.

The vacuum will not stay on, the power switch is faulty! I have to rig the thing to use it after less than a month! I bought it because Eureka is supposed to be reputable, but after reading so many of the same problem, I guess not. Too bad I didn't read these first.

Foot pedal wont stay on

Our old vacuum went out so I went to buy a new one and thought this one sounds good so I bought it. We went to use it and I did one pass on my hall and turned it off because I noticed there was cardboard in the foot petal so I took it out. Bad move... I went to turn it back on and the foot petal wouldn't say on I tried to tape it so I could at least do my whole hall, but even that wouldn't work. I called Eureka and the csr person told me to take it back to the store or take it to be repaired. I asked about the heat sensor and she said oh that could be it, I said I live in TX if heat is a problem with this then there is no way this vacuum will work for us. I will be taking it back first thing in the morning and getting a different brand product.

FYI...not even a month after paying nearly $80 for this vacum, it stopped working. The on switch wouldn't stay on. I took it to be repaired and the 2nd time I used it after the 1st repair the same problem occurred. To get my home clean, I used tape to hold the foot operated on switch down and it cut off. I took it back in a 2nd time and told them about the foot pedal, the tape and the (likely built-in thermal) shutoff.
They "fixed" it and it did the same thing. Eureka wasn't much help as each time prior to taking it to the authorized repair place I had to call Eureka first. While waiting for the rep to type something I commented to my boyfriend that it was 72 degrees in the house and said we might need to turn on the a/c if it got much warmer inside. The know it all Eureka rep said that was why the vacum shut off. I was shocked into silence and then I got PO'd. The problems started soon after the unit was purchased. If a vacum cuts off because the area it's being used in is 72 degrees, then that vac should not have been made or sold.
Nevertheless, I am still having trouble with this vacum and it's been at the repair shop for two weeks now, the THIRD time in the shop. I am an allergic neat freak and very angry I didn't get a Shark because I can't keep my home clean! This unit is barely 3 months old and has spent a total of nearly one month in the repair shop. I've purchased units for half this price that worked well and lasted much, much longer.

I bought this vacuum bc of the Eureka name and am not disappointed in the least... I have two boxers a four year old and a very messy husband and this vacuum keeps up with it all! If you have pets and/or kids this would be perfect for you... The price is great, I would've expected to pay twice this amount for the quality of this machine!

Have had this for about 3 months, just a hassle since day 1. High pitched noise, terrible cord placement, emptying the cannister is a pain, the filter always falls out, the hose wont stay in. Now today, it turned off and wont turn on again. The 39.00 Bissell I bought lasted me 7+ years. I will never buy Eureka products again!!

Got this vacuum in October thinking it was better than the cheaper ones. Every time we use this it gets clogged. Right now it's not working at all and has no clogs! Biggest waste of money ever, buy a cheaper one that will at least work.

I love this vaccum I am able to get pet hair off my carpet that I could never get off before. I also love the pet paw for the furniture it gets the hair off the couch. I would reccomend this product to anyone.

Bought this vacuum yesterday. Once assembled, we turned it on and it began to squeak. Almost like the belt was stuck. Suction was great but cannot deal with the high pitch squeaky noise. Returning it today for a refund.

If you want a Mercedes, buy one. Pay the premium price, and the premium labor costs. If you want a reasonably priced vacuum, that does a good job? Then you're in the right place.
No, it won't pick up hubcaps, bowling balls, or random items of clothing without having difficulties. You should pick up before you vacuum...just sayin'. It weighs 15 lbs. in use-that is NOT heavy. If it is, you need some physical training. It does not drive itself, and the cord does not wind up by itself-and there is no remote, or remote start-or seat warmers.
My wife received this as a gift, and she is very happy with it. She is almost her own torture-test facility for household appliances, so if it stands up to her, I have great confidence in it. But, if you just want some brand name, then spend the extra surcharge for your dyson, oreck, or "rainbow" vac. You're not losing money on this EUREKA!
And for crying out loud, it's PLASTIC, how heavy can it be???

I am so glad I purchased this vacum cleaner.
I've been battling with an Oreck to clean cat hair from carpeting and furniture.
So glad thats over !!!!
NO NEED TO SPEND MONEY ON A HIGHER PRICED VACUM this is the best purchase I've made...
Replaced the ORECK and so happy I didn't spend that kind of $$$ again.

This vacuum is amazing. Has great suction and removed pet hair extremely well :) My floors haven't looked this clean since I steam cleaned the carpets. Great buy! If you have pets and can't afford a $600 vacuum, definitely purchase this one! Trust me, you will not regret it!

This was my 3rd vacuum in 2 months which I returned. I dont understand why it is so hard to make a vacumm that sucks up everything. Why do you need a Pet vs Regular vacumm? Dyson is a house payment!
NLS --Never Lose Suction until the hose comes out of the housing and all the debry is flying around your room and back onto floor.
I do not understand the housing system for which your hose is to fit into. The hose never staying in place resulting in lose of suction and debry everywhere.
This vacumm is VERY LOUD and Heavy.
I finally found a vacumm I am keeping...Hoover Windtunnel T-Series (UH70107). Lightweight, compact to go under my tables and has POWER to clean EVERYTHING ---including pet/human hair.

The design is terrible. You may not have to touch the dirt that is inside the dirt cup, but all the dirt that accumulates around where you have to open it, you do. We have had this for less than 2 months and we've already had to replace the belt that runs the powerhead. Good thing it came with an extra one. Now, I hope Walmart carries the replacement belts.
