I bought this camera because I dropped mine and it broke. The first pictures look bad because the camera is originally set in the worst features. It is in the lowest resolution, image quality, color effect, sharpness and others. Also there's a switch of macro and micro mode. So if you want to take a close picture, just put the macro mode or it will be blurry. The costumers just have to actually read the manual and know that the pictures it takes are good for the price. The only problem is the zoom...not good.

I bought this camera to replace an old camera that no longer worked. I thought that maybe it would at least be as good as a ten year old digital camera, however this camera is horrible. Feels cheaply made. The picture quality is the worst I have seen, a cell phone would take much better photos than this camera. Screen to view photos is very, very small. I bought this camera and brought it home and took some photos and was very disappointed in the pictures, will be taking it back tomorrow. A total waste of money. I do not recommend this camera to anyone.

Piece of junk

Stay away. Stay far away from this camera. I bought it for my daughter, who just needed something simple that wasn't too expensive in case she lost it. This piece of junk doesn't even meet the needs of a child. The pictures are all so grainy and blurry that you can barely even see the subject. Doesn't seem to matter if it's in daylight or inside with the flash, the pictures are completely unrecognizable. The LCD viewfinder is pathetic too, but I can almost forgive this on a cheapo camera. It's the picture quality that is the reason this one is going back. Totally useless. Come on, Vivitar - why bother selling something that is completely unusable?

Manual Focus

Are you sure you didn't accidentally set the manual focus to macro? It is a small switch on the side of the cameras to set the focus to close- up or just normal.

Great Starter Cam

After reading the previous review I was dubious about the camera. but I got this for my 7 year old for Christmas anway. the first few shots were Junk, I played with the settings and factory set they are set an 3 Mp and med quality. I changed everything to max, 5 mp with fine quality. The camera took decent pics then, even for moving objects, which I was super surprised with. the pics my 7 year old takes are of sometimes pretty rough, but i expected that with her being 7 she moves the camera during taking the pics. overall I have to say for 29.00 I'm super happy with the camera and so is she. the viewfinder is pretty small, but its a inexpensive camera, and I figure less likely to get broke in the hand of a 7 year old as it goes flying off the merry-go round and onto the rocks as it did earlier today.
