I started by purchasing a Samsung 60" plasma flat screen TV from Walmart for $998.00. I next decided to purchase this refurbished blu-ray player for $168.00 and finished off my brand new home theater by purchasing a Samsung refurbished soundbar with wireless subwoofer. I am thrilled to have found all three items for under $1,500.00. As far as the functionality, it plays discs with none of the issues of the dialogue being out of phase with the mouth movements of the characters on screen I read about prior to this transaction. I was able to connect wirelessly to the internet within five minutes thanks to the WIFI we have through our satellite service. The only problem I have experienced is that I have no sound when watching Netflix movies, but I am confident this is an issue with the settings that I can resolve. If I could afford to I would use this same configuration in every room in my house.

This unit loads slower then my Panasonic, however my Panasonic cost $200.00 more then this unit....Other then loading speed Im very happy with this unit....And cost saving was fantastic....A+++++...rating

awesome! Bought this mainly for playing dvds. I have a son with downsyndrome and movies are his favorite. Before i knew it it was streaming netflix, and he was learnig me how to use it! Great unit no problems with this one. So easy to use, great price. Thank you !

I know there are bluray players that may do more, but for the average user this player will more than serve your needs. Built-in wifi streams HD movies without having to buffer during viewing and the bluray picture at 1080p is amazing on my 55" Sony. I highly recommend this player.

Everything about this player is top-notch except the sound is only of average quality. Specifically, I have to increase the volume of our (brand new) TV from an average of 14 on normal TV play to a volume of 50 or 60 to hear the Blu-ray. Couldn't ask for better on all of the other features however.

A good old player

All DVD players are obsolete there is no reason to rent a DVD when you can stream a 3D movie , given you have a good broadband connection. This device displays as well as your monitor/TV allows and or as the source allows. Yet sometimes it hangs between devices within the device. The Samsung Apps will make you wonder why U need to be paying for cable tv. I have received all my entertainment though this unit using the Samsung apps for over a year. I wish I had a 3D Samsung TV to take full advantage of it. I recently just unplugged it, and all I use now is my PC. The PC does everything that this player does, its just a duplicate device now. I payed about 300 dollars for this unit about two years ago. At this price it beats the internet media players in cost and it is a internet media player.It will not play the most popular codec that being the *.mkv. But, of course it will play common codec and Dual Sided Media. When a player has few codec it makes the PC with a 30 dollar Blu Ray a better choice) you will find transcodeing a pain unless you have a processor like the ADM quad core chip or an i7. So its priced way low, at about the original wholesale cost or less, and if you don't know what I am talking about buy it, its a good media player without a hard drive, and it will play off the shelf go to the store or wait for the mail DVDs.

Good looking. Blue display matches my receiver. Good wireless signal and range. A little clumsy trying to enter password for wireless, Plays every movie so far. About average on load times on bluray and apps. Real plug and play. Plugged in hdmi, digital audio and power and played blueray. Took a little longer to set up wireless as input method a little clumsy, but you only have to do it once. Would recomend.

This player is awesome, and i am pretty picky.
I was a little weary from reviews i read on other sites about functionality, but it was such a great buy, and i sold my dad my 2&1/2 year old samsung plasma to upgrade myself to a 3d tv so i wanted to get him a samsung player so he could use the same tv remote to control everything and not worry about leaving his entertainment doors open. And i always had great experiences with samsung products.
I was a little weary from reviews i read on other sites about functionality, but it was such a great buy, and i sold my dad my 2&1/2 year old samsung plasma to upgrade myself to a 3d tv so i wanted to get him a samsung player so he could use the same tv remote to control everything and not worry about leaving his entertainment doors open. And i always had great experiences with samsung products.
I am very technically inclined so i will share my first setup thoughts and steps i did first that i think everyone might want to check and do first.
In the menu i navigated to settings/display and thought it was odd how the resolution was set to 480p, which is a basic sd like setting even though was connected through a high speed hdmi with ethernet cable to a 1080p samsung plasma. So i had to easily change that to 1080p.
Next i went to network/network settings and network type was by default on a wired setting, so i changed that to wireless. Then i went to network setting to scan for my network and put in the password.
Next i went to support/software upgrade, and updated it. Then after that when you select internet@tv it will do another update of the apps.
And thats it! I was good to go!
I played with it hard all day and had no problems whatsoever.
Everything runs good and fast.
I mainly used netflix, pandora, and vudu. And the player comes with a 6$ vudu credit!)
It is very nice that pandora will play and kick in to a screen saver so that it will not burn an image in to the plasma. And any other menu screen if you dont use it for a few minutes.
I am only about 30 feet from my router with a 10mb connection and no major walls the signal has to travel through so i cant speak for the range more than that.
People say that the discs dont resume where they left off if you stop the movie, but that is simply untrue. It just depends on how the hollywood production studio made the disc.
For example, "the one" blu ray will not resume if stopped, but "transporter" blu ray will resume if stopped and even after the player is power cycled. But no disc will resume after taking the disc out which i could care less about anyway.
I tested playing over 20 blu rays and about 10 more dvd's from pretty much every production studio and they all started up fast with no problems, and looked great.

Do not fear the refurb, it came as every one else here says in like new condition! No scratches, was factory sealed and had protective plastic stickers on it. Even the remote looked brand new. I personally think certain refurbs from certain manufacturers like samsung are tested and checked out better than the thousands of regular production line models that are produced daily anyway. And i know because i have a lot of factory production experience.
I chose standard shipping, and recieved the player in 2 days from fedex.
My dad is not technically inclined so much, and seemed to grasp using everything quick

Item was delivered on time but when I took it out of the box and began connecting it to the internet, the player would say online but would never connect all the way.I called Samsung twice. I was instructed to do a hard reset both times but it did not solve the problem so I took it back for a refund. Caught a new 6500 on sale at best buy brought it home hooked it up and it connected right away. I buy refurbished all the time, this is a first for me buying something that didn't work.
