love leap pad products and this seems to be a well made product my child loves it and while he is only 3 and below the age reccomendation he uses our ipad very easily but seems to have trouble with some of these games. Also the apps are WAY to expensive keep in mind when u but this that is only comes with a few apps and to get more you have to pay between $7-10+ dollars each new game! so while i dont want my 3 year old to break my $500 ipad i like that it has hundreds of free apps that amuse and teach him. his $100 leappad will end up costing us just as much i fear in the long run

My son really likes this device. He is only 2 1/2 but he likes to have his own "ipad" as he calls it! I think as he get older he will enjoy more. He takes his own pics and enjoys watching his "Yo Gabba Gabba" video. I wish it was a device that could be charged electrically versus battery. But I guess this allows him time to play with other toys while his batteries charge. I would advise getting rechargeable batteries, since a child can be on this device for long periods of time.

Purchased product for my 6 year old nephew and he loves it. He started taking pictures with it right away after I downloaded all the software 1st., of course. He was even able to navigate through the apps on his own on the 1st try. I don't know yet how long the cartridges and apps I purchased will hold his attention because he just received it for Xmas.
Setup is a bit lengthy but once all the software is downloaded, it's smooth sailing. It plays just like an Android tablet and can be used with or without a stylus. The cartridges are a bit expensive as well as the apps. But if you wait for the special offers, like buy 2 apps and/ or cartridges and get 1 free, it helps in reducing the pricing. They don't come along often enough though. I do like that the LeapPad syncs with your computer (on the Leap Frog website) so if the Pad itself is damaged you can reload into another Pad. I would recommend buying the power adaptor and some headphones as well as a case for the LeapPad. Look for the bundle deals to help reduce costs. I reduced some cost by purchasing the LeapPad 1 instead of the 2nd edition this Xmas.

My five year old great grandson loves tablets so this one fits his age group and his abilities. He is so delighted to have one of his own. His parents love it too as they can use theirs without fighting for them now. It seems to be a rugged little device that will resist a few bumps and bruises. He is a quick study and I am sure he will not only enjoy the little games but the learning experiences too.

It would be a great purchase if the tablet did not burn through 4 AA batteries in a day. I am very disappointed that Leapfrog released this tablet without a rechargeable kit solution for such a power-hungry device.

I purchased this for my 5-year-old daughter and she picked up how to operate it immediately. She loves the fact that it has a camera and a video camera on it. I saw no difference between this one and the LeapPad2.

This unit is going back ASAP. Loading the four free "Apps" from the company's website took over 1 hour with a high-speed internet connection and these aren't even the full apps but more like advertising for the apps. The registration process is cumbersome and most of the apps cost too much. Performance-wise, the unit takes longer than expected to load the selected application. When switching between apps there is nonsense displayed that only served to frustrate my child who can manipulate an iPhone or Kindle with ease.

I have been searching high and low to find the best price on the Leappad 1. At one point Amazon had the lowest price but I needed to wait until payday. Walmart ended up having the bundle including the Leappad1, Mr. Pencil game AND a $20 downloadable app card all for only $ 75.61!!! That's waaayyyy less expensive than anywhere else, what a great deal!! Not only that but it really is a great system :)
