This is a great GPS and I bought the refurbished for a terrific price. Registered and updated with no problems and why it was refurbished I just don't know why. Looks new and works like new(so far)and has the full warranty. Every GPS I've ever owned has some features I like over others and this one is no different. Overall this is the best GPS I've ever owned, not perfect but what is?

I paid $159.98 from Walmart.com. Blue tooth works well for cell phone. Voice activation is great. Don't need a larger screen blocking my view. Finds nearby places, reroutes in traffic, tells when there is a red light traffic camera. Comes with a one year warranty. Hard to beat this unit.

This was an upgrade from my 5yr. old Garmin. It has great features and the price is low due to it being a refurbished unit. However, I don't think they found the true problem with it when they tried to refurbish it. I'm from WI and was traveling through the Denver, CO area in the middle of the night and the unit locked up/stopped functioning (no Denver map, Panic time)!!!
. Wouldn't turn off. I unplugged it plugged it back in and it was still locked up. It wouldn't work the next day. I plugged it in a few days later during my return trip and it started working again, except the mileage function was 900 miles off. Just can't trust the unit!

I bought this to update my old garmin, Excellent GPS, fast and responsive, elegant design, lightweight. (looks like an android phone) I used my garmin account to register this new one, and immediately I was able to update the map (lifetime updates), I had no problem transfering my custom POI's, from my old GPS to this one I just made a copy of the corrent.gpx file from the old one.
This one has 3d view in the city, and you can switch between horizontal and vertical view

I upgraded from a Garmin Nuvi 1300 which we owned for 5-6 years. While it was still good, I was tired of updating maps and paying for it. This one was good out of the box. I still haven't updated the maps & we live in the country. I have had no problem what so ever finding my destinations. As a Real Estate Appraiser, I use it on a daily basis. I have been using it for about 3 - 4 weeks. I did not update the maps because my husband had updated his Magellan and the thing didn't work after that. Now it is a $150 paper weight. Magellan has decided to replace it, but warning there is a problem with their updates and they know it. This is the main reason I choose Garmin. We had no problems with the old one and this new one is no exception. We used in it Detroit the other day and the Traffic info was nice to have on a Wed night before Thanksgiving. If your looking for an upgrade from an older model, this one is priced right and easy to use. The touch screen is much better than the old one. You barely touch it and it works. In addition, I like it's memory capabilities. I don't have to spell the name of the same towns I go to week after week. The trip planner is nice also as I can enter all the destination I have to go and tell it to optimize, giving me the quickest and best route. Make sure you charge it for a while. When I first plugged it in it worked for about 5 sec and then shut down. I was going to return it the next day and decided to keep it plugged in on my way to Wal-Mart when it turned on.

Although this unit was refurbished it looks like it is brand new and is easy to work...very minimal directions not having you punch a lot of buttons to get where you are going...The voice command works great for hands free use in finding your destination. The best thing about it, Wal Mart had this priced almost $50 below what I could find on E-bay and Amazon, that is why I purchased the 2 year warranty with the unit. Comes with Free Lifetime Maps (you have to update) that is easy to follow and do on the Garmin Website....Great Christmas Gift!!!!

Let me start off by saying that I own 3 other Garmin GPS units. (2 handheld & 1 Other Nuvi) I have had no issues with these other units. This 3790 unit seems to have software problems, It constantlly promps to change the elevation, Time, Direction, and other options to a point of distraction. ( as many as a dozen times on a 2 hour trip) Sometimes it will show you a list of all your turns when you ar 17 to 20 miles from your next turn. If i wanted to look at a list like that i will use mapquest!) I spent a couple of hours on the phone with an Garmin tech trying to resolve these issues, I downloaded some new software updates. these problems do not happen as frequent as they did at first, but itis still annoying. I do like how fast the map loads. and that you can download different vehicles from the internet. I currently use an X-Wing from Star Wars on mine! you can even have Darth Vader or Yoda give you directions ( How cool is that!) I also like the fact that it has lifetime maps and traffic, and shows the speedlimit on most major roads. My next GPS will still be a Garmin but not this model.

I bought this unit with high expectations. I bought it and put it to use immediately. It has been in Missouri, Kansas, and Los Angelos in it's short time with me. This was a refurb unit, it was in fine shape and works great. The topographical maps work great, the split screen is very acuate and it is quick enough that you don't miss turns. The blue tooth works just a little too good as it picks up conversations on the radio and when I was in my convertible it picked up the radio on a motorcycle passing by. I would recommend it to my friends and family, in fact I will be replacing my wife's Nuvi 260 with it too.

Ok...I had a Garmin 765T for years. Loved it. Worked perfect. Then I broke the screen getting in the car. Went without for awhile and decided to get another Garmin. Looked around. Even on ebay. Considered a used 765T off of ebay. But then I saw this on sale refurbished at Walmart. I dont usually buy refurb but thought I would give it a try. Arrived like new. Works perfect. And although I never tried the voice commands on a garmin this works like a charm. Much easier than keying things in. Much safer driving. Screen is so much better than the old 765T. I highly recommend the new Garmin 3790LMT. Lifetime maps, FM traffic. This unit is great.......

While vacationing in Florida, I bought a refurbished Garmin 3790 LMT through Walmart, available only online where I was. The price I paid was for a refurbished item, but, believe me, the only thing reminding me of a refurbished item was the label on the box.It was delivered in a day instead of 3 days. Sent in an ordinary box, inside which there was the blue and white beautiful Garmin box containing the GPS and all it's accessories in their original wrapping. All impeccable. No signs of being opened or repacked. The GPS worked flawlessly, and for those people who complain about taking too long downloading the updated maps, that depends on their computers and their internet speed. Congratulation to Walmart the way they handled the transaction. Note to Walmart: in the "form to purchase", please create an entry for "postal code". Thanks Rino

Although it says refurbished, it doesn't appear to be that way. It looks as good as new as far as I can tell. My guess is, Walmart might be receiving preferential treatment in terms of the quality of merchandise being received from third party vendors in this case, Garmin. Wouldn't hesitate purchasing refurb items from Walmart in the future.

Wanted a 2nd 3790LMT. Great Product. But expensive. Thought we'd try a refurb. Ours looked great. It generally works great. But there is some kind of problem with the power button.
When you hold the power button on the unit we purchased new, it will ask if you want to shut down. On the Refurb, the screen goes black. But then when you start it up again, it asks if you want to shut it down.
Tried firmware updates. Looks like hardware. Never got around to returning it.

Having just started a job which requires driving to customer sites, I needed a high quality GPS, but could not afford to spend carelessly.
Pros: *Great screen size and resolution; bigger would block too much of my view, smaller would be tough on my eyes. *Lifetime maps AND Traffic *Quick startup, calculation, and re-calculation *Decent bluetooth speaker *Recalculating around traffic works pretty well *Voice command actually works!
Cons *Street addresses often off *Forgets where you are going if you shut unit off mid-trip *Sometimes a little quirky on route calculation (see below) *Onscreen keyboard a bit tricky to use when in vertical (portrait) position
I tried shopping the sub-$100 units, and found the Garmin 1390 LMT refurbished, but returned it after just a few hours. That screen was so unresponsive that it would have caused an accident!
I love that I could return the unit to any WalMart store, and get all but the $1.97 shipping credited to my card immediately. 1/2 star just for that! I went home, and after a few hours, ordered the 3790LMT.
For the same price, I could have gone with another unit with a 5" screen, but I worried that with a highly sloped windshield, that would block too much of my view; as I would be driving in a major city (something I am not used to), I knew I needed to keep my eyes on the road (and parking spots, commuters on bicycles, etc). But being over 50, small screens are a little difficult to focus on quickly, and then get back to watching the streets.
The high resolution screen is great, and Garmin makes smart use of color and balanced detail on the screen. I can see the streets, my route, and traffic congestion at a glance. I prefer the vertical orientation, because I like to see more of the road ahead, especially when on the highway.
Initial calculations are reasonably quick, and re-calculations are USUALLY quick. One major exception was when I was parked headed east, and the calculated route assumed I was headed west. I knew that I needed to be going south, and that I was in a neighborhood where dead-end streets alternated with thru-streets. It took 3 blocks before Nuvi recalculated a turn in time for me to be able to take it (the first recalculation said 'turn here' just AFTER I passed the street).
Several other times, it has sent me down a dead-end street, or a private street. Not often, but about once a week, I will have to 'freestyle' until Nuvi gives up on a bad approach and picks a better one.
Street numbers are often inaccurate; my own house is 1/4 mile away, according to Nuvi; I can rely on getting to the right street, but exact positioning is a crapshoot. It's a database/maps issue, not the accuracy of the unit itself; my house is off by exactly the same distance on my 5 year old GPS; I had hoped by now that this would be resolved.
'Voice command' works, better than I expected, but it's not perfect (no surprise; it's pretty amazing that it works as well as it does). If you want to use it, I'd say practice until you know what it can/can't do. It will depend partly on your voice. I can use it to find an item in Favorites, or find a gas station, but specifying a brand new address by voice is not quick, and I prefer to type that in.
Keyboard: In portrait mode, the keyboard is not great; it's QWERTY, and easy to mis-type. Once you type in enough letters to narrow down the list of streets or cities to a single page, you get a list to choose from.
Traffic feature: First, the traffic is "ad-supported". That said, I have yet to see a single ad pop up. That may be because, according to reports, the ads pop up only when you are not moving, and that is rarely the case for me. Second, the displays and re-calculations are dependent on the quality of the reports; if you put garbage in, you get garbage out. I have found this feature useful as long as I take it as a suggestion, not as 'truth'. Where I drive is covered, but reports may lag reality; you can get notice of congestion after you just passed the only exit you need to get around it, or you might find that you divert around a no-longer existing issue. It happens, but the feature is helpful; I have saved myself time and gas money several times because of this feature.
Speaker phone is pretty decent; I can use it for most calls, and be understood, and I can understand the person on the other end. I like that there is a quick icon to 'Call home', I do not dial any numbers while driving, but am comfortable with a grand total of two clicks to call home while driving.
Recalculations: If I take an exit, it recalculates before I get to the end of the ramp; soon enough to tell me to turn left or right. In the city, an unexpected turn usually recalculates within one block (barely).
Other reviews report that the unit gets hot during normal use; it does, but given its small size, high performance, and metal case, it seems this is normal for this unit.
The unit is thinner than most smart phones, display is bright, and the windshield holder is simple, secure, and the charger cable plugs into the holder. One note: the connection to the holder is mini-USB, while the Nuvi itself is micro-USB. Other review have noted that you can eliminate the ads (along with the traffic feature) by using a replacement charger; you will need a micro-USB charger tip if you are going to plug into the windshield holder.
Were it not for the issue with mapping, I would give this unit 5 stars.

Worst GPS Unit I've ever owned, and I love Garmin!

I received this unit and the screen was MISERABLE TO NAVIGATE. You would press on one place and it would select something where I didn't even press. I couldn't navigate at all!! I downloaded all the new software as Garmin instructed me to but the problem was OBVIOUSLY a hardware issue. I will never buy a refurbished product again. It was obviously not working before it was shipped and they obviously didn't test it out. It had a dead pixel or 2 as well which was a big let down. I returned it for the Garmin 50LM and it is a solid and GREAT Gps. Skip this and get a 50LM and you will be glad you did. The screen is better on the 50LM and seems a lot more rugged, solid, well-built, and it is cheaper in price!! Forget the 3790/3590/3490 series. I wanted to like this but the 3790 was flat out horrible!!
