Go Dutch and get full chain case. Store it covered

I had wanted to get a full chain case like this bike has for my other bike ('73 Raleigh 3-speed). I test rode a Gazelle in Chicago and it was pretty sweet but they wouldn't ship it to me to where I live in Virginia (Gazelle's cost $900 but you get a really nice bike). I could get a full chain case like this online but it would be over $100 shipped from Holland. So I decided I would order this online and put it together myself. Then I'd have a bike similar to my vintage Raleigh but I could ride it on salty roads in the winter and ride in the rain. Plus I could take the chain case off and the rear rack and put them another bike later on.
It went together well except that the bottom bracket had to be repacked with grease since it was too stiff out of the box. There wasn't much grease in there from the factory. I've rode it at least once a week for six months now on my 10 mile round trip work commute.
It is unreasonable to expect anything other than a big box store bike here. It's $250 for a reason. The tire rubber is not fancy but I'm still riding on them. (Why get new ones till these wear out?) The cranks are simple steel. 44 tooth front ring and 18 tooth rear. The frame is lugged steel with non-stainless, painted steel dropouts. Fork is uni-crown style. The pedals are plastic platform type. Fenders are steel with hand-painted pinstripes.
The saddle is an inexpensive big-box bike type of seat that I replaced with a fancier one, but I use the saddle that came with it on a different bike.
Out of the box was basically putting the front wheel on, the front brake and the pedals. It is mostly together when you unbox it but like I said before, the cranks turned rather roughly until I repacked the bottom bracket. Next year, I'll put $20 in a sealed bottom bracket and not have to worry about it again.
It's a Walmart bike so don't expect a Gazelle. That's why it cost so much less than a Gazelle.
Finally, I would recommend covered storage for any big-box bike to keep the rust to a minimum. I have a tool shed to store it in and this frame will last me years and years even without the stainless dropouts. For $250 plus the elbow grease of putting it together it's been working out great.

Very bad quality, hard to put together

I am from Holland and it is a shame that this bike is called Hollandia. It doesn't even come close to a Dutch bike. This bike is of very bad quality! The metal of the front tire touches the front tire, so I need to go to a bike shop to fix that. Moreover, the hand brakes don't work. The instruction leaflet is extremely unclear. It doesn't give instructions on all parts of the bike, for instance the instruction how to install the saddle is missing. I would have returned this bike immediately if that would have been easy. Unfortunaly, the box it was delivered in was torn, so I would have to find another box of the same size (pretty impossible) to return it.

Advertised with front and rear rack. Only received front rack. Bell and light are cheap plastic. Seat pan is plastic. Skirt and chain guard are thin black vinyl over a frame. Design of the bike is good but the bolt on items are poor quality. Rims are silver and not chrome. Seat is poor. Poorly packaged and 80% of the instruction booklet has nothing to do with this bike. The booklet mostly deals with multi-speed bikes. I returned this item for a refund.
