I bought this to take care of the Possum/Skunk problem I have. Once the scope is sited in it has proven to be very accurate. I can't speak for the ability of this gun to kill as I've hit multiple at ranges from 20 to 40 yards and they all managed to stagger back to the woods (although sometimes very slowly and at a confused route).

Review 2 for Crosman Nitro Venom Dusk NP .22 Air Rifle with Scope
Great value for this rifle. The trigger leaves a little bit to be desired and I'm cautiously optimistic about how long this rifle will work for as I've read some other reviews about things going wrong/breaking after little use. It's fairly accurate but is very heavy. I bought a sampler pack of pellets in trying to determine the best size/shape/grain. Definitely a big difference in the size /grain of certain pellets. The heavier pellets help with reduce the noise level. The lightest pellet (~13 gr) I sampled had a VERY loud shot compared to the heavier pellets (~18 gr).

I up graded the scope to a 4x16x40. Can hit soda cans at 70 yards using crossman premier hollow points. Will need to get another rifle before this one gets to popular and price goes up.

Review 4 for Crosman Nitro Venom Dusk NP .22 Air Rifle with Scope
Minimize breakin period by using the Charllie Tuna Weed wacker bore pull through cleaning. Love the charlie tuna crosman trigger but went with the bicycle chain roller mod for the crosman trigger to shorten the 2nd stage of the loooooong trigger pull. Getting under one inch groups with Crosman .22 14.7 gr. Hollow point at 20 yds. I used a camera tripod level to get a level gun rest to align the scope vertical crosshair to the gun.

It is a lot quieter than my winchester 1000 177 cal. Scope was easy to mount and started out shooting low right, scope adjustment was easy. Hitting close to bullseye at about 50 ft after 10 shots. A great buy for the money.

Review 8 for Crosman Nitro Venom Dusk NP .22 Air Rifle with Scope
This Crosman Nitro .22 Air Rifle with scope is the coolest rifle I own. It has over 900 fps muzzle velocity and hits like a conventional rifle; however it is virtually silent. It will reach out and get whatever you are hunting and whatever that is will never hear a shot report. It is easy to use and can be reloaded very easily. The only draw back that I have found is not being able to find the synthethic ammunition that was advertised.

Review 9 for Crosman Nitro Venom Dusk NP .22 Air Rifle with Scope
Bought this gun from Walmart, online. It took a little longer to ship than I expected, almost 2 weeks from date of order. When I looked at the gun it had a wood stock, when received it had a "new improved synthetic stock" I'ts just not what I expected but I like it. The Gun is a bit on the heavy side but its ok. Shoots real good and is easy to pump and load, nice pellet rifle. Accuracy is unknown at this time as I've only shot it 5 times so far. Its louder than I expected but they say it will quiet down after around a hundred shots. The Scope seems to be very nice. It was easy to install and I can see through it nicely.

After over 200 rounds for break in. At ten yards, the group was 5-6 inches. I sent this rifle to Crosman to evaluate and repair. They claim it is accurate enough to shoot a one inch group at 50 yards. I have yet to see anything close to that at ten yards. We will see when it comes back.

Don't be mislead by negative remarks about the trigger and the scope. . . both are pleasingly adjustable and suit the rifle very well. And, it really is much, much quieter than a spring gun. Crosman says it gets quieter after about 30 shots, and consistency/accuracy improves after about 100 shots. . . I found this to be true. I'm shooting the Crosman Premier 14.3gr domed/lead hunting pellets with impressive results. If you want quiet, hard-hitting accuracy, this is the rifle.

Like every rifle out there that I have read about, this one needed work straight from the box,BEFORE you shoot.I would firmly recommend you check out GTA website, and do some research at their library.I love my rifle but had to replace the barrel pivot washers(plastic) with stainless steel, and make sure you machine the new washers down so they fit very snug, and are the same thickness. The other issue, the notorious trigger, you can upgrade to a GRTIII trigger,or do what I did and do some welding and grinding on the one you got, very happy with my trigger now.Last issue,my piston seal has some light gashes in it,at about 300 rds my wife started hollerin' at me in the middle of my reloading, and I got distrcted and didnt load a pellet before I closed the barrel, and dry fired, never do that.I tore the rifle down and found the light damage on the seal, the tear down is very simple mechanics. You can learn how to build you own spring compressor on GTA.Anyways,I honed the chamber cleaned all the parts and lubed them, shoots LIKE new again.I do have some seals coming from crosman however. All that being said I believe all brands and models have small issues, but can easily be resolved with a little self educating, like air gun sites etc.I strongly recommend you check out GTA before you shoot, hope this can help all looking to buy.Oh,and one more thing to add Crosman customer service, via email,is awesome.

I wanted so much to like this air rifle. I was impressed by the nice hefty construction and ease of operation of the whole thing. And it's powerful! 1/2'' particle board wasn't a challenge. It would even occasionally shoot through that, plus a peice of 1/2" Hardieboard. Also, I didn't think it took all that much strength. After I started the sighting process however, I just got more and more frustrated. I set up a 15 yard range with a pellet trap and shooting bench, thinking I'd be moving on in a few minutes to a 35 yard range to zero it in. To put it simply, the rifle was wildly inconsistent. Just as I thought I'd be zeroing in on a 1-inch group at 15 yards (not my goal, but I might have settled), it would shoot on 4 or 5 inches off, with no perceptable pattern. High/low/left/right - it never zeroed in on anything I could even begin to work on. I discovered after a while that the included scope was moving around in the mounts after several shots. I tightened it as much as I dared (I know air rifles are quite demanding on scopes and mounts), but it would still shift 1/8" or so after several shots. To see if it was the scope that was inaccurate, I risked an older spare rifle scope on it for a few shots. Although the picture through the better scope was much clearer, there was no change to the rifle's accuracy, and hopefully no damage to my scope. After about 300 total shots over several sessions, I packed it up and took it back to the store. Maybe I got a dud. Maybe I should have cleaned the bore before I started shooting it. That wouldn't have changed the scope mount issue though.

Great rifle. Heavy gives the feel of high power hunting rifles. Scope is pretty good optics OK. The only negative is the trigger it is lousy stiff with too much creep with a bad second stage. I will be replacing the trigger with a after market a GTII . I like the synthetic stock as it will show no dings and scratches as mine will get heavy use in the woods. It takes a while to get use to the recoil but if you learn to use the artillery hold it gives excellent accuracy. Just wish it came with a sling and a Butler Creek Bikini Bra for the scope. Great rifle great price. I am going to buy the sister rifle in .177 caliber.

Over all, I am happy with the Nitro Venom Dusk. It is pretty accurate. The price is a lot better than the Gamo. The stock is really close the same size and shape as a real gun. The trigger is not worth bragging about, but it is just a pellet rifle. I guess I'm spoiled by my Savage with accu trigger. It's also louder than I expected. However, I don't have a lot of experence with air rifles. It's fun to shoot. Good starter gun for my son before we move up to a .22 rim fire.

Buy one. You will like it. Feels quality made. If you feel you got one that feels of poor quality, you just happen to get a bad one. Simply return it. It's accurate. Good for hunting. Unlike a real gun, you can shoot this in your yard. I enjoy mine. Try it. You may get addicted.

I tried 8 different pellets in this gun. All grouped really well, with the exception being the crosman hypervelocity pellets. My guns favorite pellet seems to be the crosman pointed field pellet, followed closely by, rws superdome. Great back yard shooter. An the added value of being able to buy at walmart is a big plus. ( in case you need to return for some reason)
