I really like the versitility of this tablet. Used it as a small notebook when docked or take it with me anywhere as a tablet. Like the windows format as that is what I'm used to. Only drawback I have is as a tablet it is large enough hard to slide into my purse & take with me (Bought a notebook sleeve with handle). Also when reading for continued period of time it does get heavy if you don't dock it on the keyboard.

The Acer Iconia W500 is a great tablet AND a great Windows PC. Its very fast with superb graphics and, to my surprise, excellent DOLBY sound without extra speakers or headphones. It pairs handsomely with the leather portfolio case from Stilgut in Germany. I'd prefer a keyboard more like what HP designed for their TC1100 years ago but a foldable Bluetooth is a good substitute. Walmart had the best price by far and it's nice to have their customer service behind the purchase. Im really enjoying it.

After reseaching all tablets this was the best deal on the market. It is Windows based and compatible with all my files. Set-up was so easy! I used the "mesh" and it took 5 minutes to transfer all my files from the laptop to the tablet through my secure modem. Everything I use when I want it and where I need it. I don't have to buy apps like other tablets and ipads. Touch screen is nice and easy to use.

Summary says it all. Great tablet. Love the real keyboard. It even ran Windows 8 rather well, with just one exception.
Wndows 8 needs 1366 pixels across in order to support the SNAP (multi tasking) feature that lets you have 2 windows up side by side.
unfortunately, this tablet comes close but falls 88 pixels short of the 1366 needed for this feature in Windows 8. If you don't need this feature then it runs Windows 8 rather well otherwise.
I love everything about this tablet other than this one thing and I would definitely recommend it to friends and family as well as anyone else.

Purchased to coincide with my Windows based graphics business to allow easy project review with clients. Android & iPad do not allow easy document transfers without going through conversions to PDF and tethered loading. I can transfer files to the Acer W500 via Wi-Fi or thumbdrive.
A bonus: Installed Windows 8 Consumer preview (replacing Win 7) which operates faster than Win 7 and connects readily to my Windows Live account via Wi-Fi. I use a Windows 7.5 Smart Phone so now most everything on my phone and desktop contact, calendar and notes software (Palm Desktop with Companion Link syncing software) appears on the tablet also, and updates automatically on all three. Plus Win 8 tile interface is almost identical to the phone.
32gb SSD has almost 20gb free after Win 8, plenty of room for working software. Add a 32-64gb SD card and you have plenty of added storage space and working software can be installed there too as it acts like another hard/removable drive.
Overall I am impressed and satisfied with the Acer W500 tablet and the included keyboard dock turns it into a laptop when heavy work outside my office is required. I am not a gamer so cannot comment on how well it does there.
I highly recommend the W500 if you need or desire a Windows tablet and it is ready for Windows 8 right now. Later in 2012 it will probably have a larger SSD and come with Windows 8 but the cost will be higher.

This is a great tablet. Of course, the main reason that I purchased the tablet was to install the Windows 8 Customer Preview, and it has run smoothly. I am pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone.

I didn't even test it with Win7, I loaded Windows 8 beta and it rocks. I work in IT and this tablet is very functional among my portable devices, completely replaced lugging around my laptop or using the various apps on my iPad. iPad and laptop in one, I recommend slipping in an 32GB micro SD card to increase your storage cap. Don't look for a lot of speed or storage, it's a tablet. What it does is done well.

I was looking for a Windows based tablet that was easy to use for school, home, and work. After reading many online reviews, I went with the Acer Iconia W500. I also own an Ipad (which I love) but it lacks in many applications that only a Windows OS can offer. The Acer W500 does exactly what I need. I love that it comes with the keyboard that is easily connected and easily stored. It's a tablet and a laptop all in one. I highly recommend this product!

Bought the Iconia to relace my second broken screen on a Netbook. My IT guy assured me that soon Tablets will replace Netbooks, Laptops and even Desktops. I was uneasy about switching to an Android or Apple operating system and the Iconia is Windows 7.
After playing with it for an hour or so I resoved to return it but after experimenting really warmed to it. I was trying to use my finger to do what the keyboard did but soon found that swiping was the thing to do. I loaded Office 2010 onto the Iconia and it was really slick. Same with IE and Chrome. I have a concern about the 32 Gig storage(half is alreday gone ro applications) but added a 32 Gig SD Card plus already have external Hard Drives and CD/DVD RW. I have not tried the Cloud but guess that is the waay to go if you have a good, high speed internet connection.
The keyboard works real well, at least for me. It can be completely dicconnected. One curious ommission that was not to make it wireless at least as an option. The Iconia had an HDMI connection so figure it would be good to connect it a TV to watch Hulu, Netflix etc or even take colleagues through a spreadsheet. I solved that by buying a small add-nn wireless keyboard for $40. Now I need never get off the couch!
I am told that Windows 8 will make this tablet even slicker.

First off I have to say that I'm writing this review from the tablet on its keyboard dock at a restaraunt through their free Wi-Fi. For the applications that I use this for it's the perfect companion to a standard notebook/laptop PC. The one thing I'd have to say is that it's advisable to get a stylus for the touch screen use if you need to be precise in your pointer placement. The interface is a bit delayed when rotating the screen image but I'm not lloking to win any graphic races. If you're looking for a portable means of internet connectivity in a Windows platform then this will suit you just fine.

I have had the Acer Iconia for about a week now and love it! Its a great tablet, it has windows 7 and not one of the android os and comes with the docking keyboard which makes typing emails or papers easy. The only issue Ive really had is you have to be very precis when taping on a link or trying to close a window. But other than that its a great tablet! Id recommend to anyone

Very nice tablet. My son has an iPad2 and I have played with that. I wanted/needed a windows based tablet. This one has worked great. I have had it for close to a month now. I took off Win7 and put on Win8 DP and put the consumer preview when it came out. Much more user friendly with the Metro apps (it has more installed). It has an SD slot that I put in a 32G SD card and it has 2 full size USB ports along with an HDMI out. Just what I was looking for. Screen is bright, clear and plays my HD rips great. The 32g drive can fill up quick but if you manage your apps/data correctly, its not a big problem. Just make sure you move data to the external card reader if its not used on a regular basis. However, as a trade off, because of the drive being an SSD, it boots to Windows in 9-10 seconds and its at the log in screen. Unbelievably FAST. A near full size keyboard and works perfectly. I have even used it when working on other computers. Because its USB it works perfectly on other computers.
Now the drawbacks, its a bit heavier then the iPad but I feel as though its well worth the trade off due to the full size ports and SD card slot. It Feels very sturdy, more so then the iPad. With Win7 It takes longer to boot and runs a bit slower but its still snappy. Faster then some laptops I have worked on. Lastly, the battery life is not as good at the iPad. It lasts only about 3-5 hours depending on usage. I have used it on and off for a full day with out having to recharge. If your going to watch movies or the like, it will last closer to the 3 hrs.
I purchased this for myself. It was not a gift. I use it daily. Much more convenient then carrying around a full size laptop.
Overall, I am very satisfied and WalMart had the best price for the Win7HP version at only $498 with $.97 shipping.

I Love this tabket for many reasons, 32 gb + an SD card slot where you can partition and mount what ends up being an additional drive..,not only for app storage but you can load programs. I loaded photoshop on the sd card. you cant do that on an ipad...speaking of which, ipad does not come with an hdmi port and an external keboard that you can plug a network cable in! This tablet came with restore discs, that you can use if you ever need to, to do this though you will need an external usb cd/dvd drive. they arent expensive. you can connect it to a projector, ...show a powerpoint presentation. For that matter this is windows!, you can create you powerpoint right on the Iconia W500. Its heavier than the iPad and mosr Android devices, but you can do so much more with it, check out the Thinix browser, which you can download online, this helped alot, IE works well. Firefox and Chrome dont work as well, Opera browser poor. when windows 8 comes out you should have no problems running it on this device.

Picked up today. Had c60 processor instead of c50 as advertised in add and even on box. Made 12/25/11. C60 is a nice bonus. This is no box of toys like an ipad.. it is a work box which happens to have some toys! Still setting it up. Purchesed a 64gb chip for music and pic storage. It is not made to throw around, but to throw down on with some serious work and browsing. Very pleased so far with what I see.. I am a Preacher and School Teacher and it looks to be up to my demands.

What I like most about the Acer Iconia W500 is the size, which makes it convenient for school. Of course this also makes everything appear very small on the screen. Also unless it is placed on a completely flat surface it will fall over, unlike a bottom-heavy laptop. . It has very little memory so I am using an SD card and a Thumb drive a lot. It is a neat toy/gadget to have and play with and bring with you wherever you go, but I would not recommend it in place of a laptop.
