I have had this vacuum for over a year. I have to say that it's the most powerful vacuum I've ever owned and to some extent, it's more powerful than my shop vac!
So why am I giving this only three stars? Well, when I first bought the vacuum, I loved it although it was a bit heavy. I was really amazed at how well the vacuum picked up dirt, pet hair, rocks, etc. It's so strong it even picked the carpet up OFF the tack strip! Now that's some suction! It does propel itself forward, but then you have to bring it back. Do that a few hundred times and you'll be exhausted!
In the year I've had it, it has never lost it's suction power. It's as strong as it was brand new.
Now the bad:
*The canister lid to empty it broke. So I have to open it and catch the lid before it falls into the trash.
*The hose is very weak in two places and looks like it's going to break anytime soon.
*The hose is not at all flexible. I want the hose that's in the commercial because with mine, I can go five feet and the vacuum will fall over. It does not follow me nor will the hose stretch. I only have eight foot ceilings and I have to have my vacuum right beside me to reach the top.
*The arm for accessories is always loose no matter how many times I tighten it. Nothing more frustrating than trying to reach a crevice only to have that arm loosen up making you pull it back and have to tighten it again.

This is a WONDERFUL vacuum is you can deal with it's weaknesses. And if you do buy this vacuum, please be very careful with the lid for the canister.

It seemed strange at first that it got so hot, it was like a heater vent out of the side of it. And the suckton didn't seem all that intense, dust stuck to the side and bottom of it. Well, after around 10 minutes of using it, it is dead. I will be returning it to Walmart and in spite of all the good reviews, I am not feeling like driving all the way back there again in case I get Lemon Vacum #2. VERY disappointed :( now I have to do more research to find something that will at least last over 10 minutes.

I love this vacuum, I bought it as a Christmas present to myself last year and it has been a joy to have. I have a bit of an obsession with cleaning products, and researched this baby before purchasing it.
The pros:
- Great suction, it picks up virtually everything
- The handheld bristle attachment: I have four cats and two dogs who SHED everywhere, with this attachment I am able to get 95% of the pet hair off of my couch even during shedding season.
- The hose attachment sucks up everything, great for working in corners, litter/kibble spills, sucking up fur after trims, and getting those spider webs up in ceiling corners
- Great suction, it picks up virtually everything

I can vacuum roughly five square feet before it starts making a clicking noise and I have to lift the base so it can expel her fur and keep going. Then I have to follow with the hose attachment to get the clumps fur that the floor brushes had to spit out. It's a minor annoyance for me because I realize her fur can be a major undertaking. It just means taking a few extra passes to get everything.

This Vacuum is AMAZING. I was amazed at how much hair and dirt this pulled out of my carpets right after I had them professionally cleaned. This machine is "heavy" but I couldn't help but laugh at some of the reviews posted. I am a 21 year old woman with very little arm muscles and I didn't struggle whatsoever when using this machine. I can't imagine a healthy person who could struggle using it (other than a small child). It glides very easily, and the light is very powerful. I wouldn't let these negative reviews affect your decision because this vacuum has cleaned my house beyond belief. The air quality has even changed for the better after using this vacuum. Another great reason to buy this vacuum is because it helps people with allergies. My brother comes over to visit often and is extremely allergic to cats. I have two of them, and he always complains when he comes to my house because of the dander. After I used this vacuum he couldn't even tell that we had cats anymore. He has been visiting for a while now and he hasn't had any symptoms.
If you see the reviews about "200 lb men" not being able to use this vacuum, I would recommend laughing them off. I made everyone in my house use this vacuum, even my brothers kids (they are 7 and 9), and they were able to use it just fine. If you go to the store you can try to lift the box.. that's the best way to see if it is manageable for you :)

This vacuum is powerful, but heavy for an average person, also handling on carpet may be a little tough, works great on bare floors, the light in front is not of much help. I think we will get used to this since it has good power. great buy!

I bought the Bissel Heavy Duty with the intent of using it on the main level and keeping my old vacuum upstairs for the bedrooms. To try it out I first vacuumed a room with my old Hoover Bagless which I thought was doing a good job of cleaning. I was amazed at how much additional dust and dirt the Bissell Heavy Duty pulled out of the room. The vacuum produced is really quite powerful so now I am planning to get rid of the Hoover and use the Bissell for the whole house.
The only problem is the weight of the Bissell. At a little over 24 pounds it is a good 6 to 8 pounds heavier than the average vacuum making it more difficult to lift up stairs and move on a thick carpet. However, the hefty carry handle and the large wheels do help. Other plusses are the convenient locations of the on/off switch for the vacuum motor and the brush motor. The control of the brush with an auxiliary motor is a feature I didn't find on any other machine in this price range. The dirt container is very easy to empty out and the long 30 foot power cord gives a long reach without having to move to another power outlet.
Try lifting the Bissell in the store and if you can deal with the weight, buy it. The weight may be due the use of heavy duty components like the polycarbonate dust bin and the extra motor for the brush. In general, its a well engineered machine that will not disappoint in its cleaning ability.

Heavy-duty vacuum cleans very well, Like to two motor concept with separate on and off switches. Makes it easy to go from carpets to bare floors. I would have give it a five but I'm not sure on the cut off switch when the Suction motor heats up

This is the first Bissell vacuum that I have ever owned, I've had nothing but Hoover for the longest time. I can honestly say I'm Glad that I made the switch!!! This Bissell has more suction power than that Hoover ever thought of having. I can't beleive the amount of Very fine dirt and dust this machine picked up out of my carpet After having already vacuumed the carpet with my 4 month old Hoover Eleite Pet vacuum. I would recomend this machine to anyone with pets or kid's running through the house as you're carpet's will never come out cleaner than with this machine!

There are many more reasons to buy this vacuum than those to discourage you from doing so.
Yes the vacuum is heavy and bringing it upstairs to my 3rd floor apartment took some huffin and puffin but in reality your not going to vacuum the walls with it. With them CON out of the way lets talk about why you do want to buy this bad boy.

2. Never worry about a replacing a belt.
3. Clean you can see that you get from bag-less vacuum cleaners
4. Pet brush that I saw first hand works like a charm. my sofa looked like a had it vacuumed and shampooed by a professional.
5. Easy to move around despite its weight probably due to its oversize wheels.
6. Love the way I can turn it on and off as well as engage the brush right from the handle.
7. 5 year warranty

This thing sucks! I never write reviews but I feel the need to do so now. This is a magnificent vacuum cleaner. I had an old 70's style Eureka Upright that I swore by, until it started getting slower and slower and finally ghosted out. I was prepared to spend *MAYBE* $99 on a new vacuum but when I saw this one with the 9X cyclonic technology, 2 motors, all the attachments and the HEPA filter I just knew it was the one for me.
I was NOT wrong. I had to empty the bucket twice the first time I used it! It was amazing what I was picking up that the Eureka left behind! I feel I have clean carpets! BUY THIS ONE!

I just bought this vacuum today after reading some of the reviews. I never leave reviews but I am so impressed by this vacuum that I had to. It has pulled up canisters full of dirt, hair and dust that I swore my Oreck vacuum was taking care of. It is heavy but it's powerful. I am crossing my fingers that it lasts a long, long time because I am completely in love with it!

Easy to push....a little noisy, but great suction. This is my second one, I use it for a commercial application. After 1 1/2 years and acres of carpet the first one still works, but became very loud. Even commercial grade vacuums only last me a little over a year, so we are happy with this model. I would expect for home use, it would last for many years.

So I'm a clean freak and I'm always looking for a great vacuum. I was so excited after reading the reviews for this product. I could not wait to try it out. To have a vacuum with the amount of suction that was described in the reviews is my dream, but this vacuum is NOT it.
The ONLY nice feature is the larger wheels on the back (which I thought was so odd) actually are nice.
To get this vacuum to actually pick-up & clean you must leave it in one spot for 10 mins & maybe if your lucky it will pick up a piece of lint

This vacuum does a great job! It's heavy; not for grandma. It's a bit of a struggle on my deep shag area rug -- difficult to manuver, even on the highest nozzle adjustment. But I'm pleased with the way it cleans up embedded pet hair.
