This player has many features but the built in apps are slow as Christmas. Very slow to load bluray disks. Cannot pick up where you pause it causing you to restart the disk. I would get an other brand.

I bought 2 of these Samsug Players recently and have had nothing but problems with the Smart Hub software that allows you to stream movies and other apps. The software is constantly downloading and installing then you have to reset the unit to it's orignal settings. You never know when the player will work once you turn it on. Never had such a terrible product as this.

Trouble with WiFi connectivity

purchased this on 12/30/2011 for the purpose of watching Netflix and listening to Pandora. Watching movies with dvd disc's was excellent. When I started watching Netflix, I started to get allot of buffering via WiFi My wife and daughter got so annoyed that they watched their netflix programming using the Wii player (no problems their#. I tested the player some more by using Pandora, but after playing about 4 songs, it would stop #either buffer or freeze#. Because I threw the packaging away, and had the player for over a month, I dealt directly with Samsung. I sent the player in to Samsung for repair after failed troubleshooting attempts at home. When I received the Player back, it was cosmetically in worse condition, and the internet connection was worse. Now instead of buffering, Netflix and Pandora would simply freeze (terrible Samsung repair service). Samsung agreed to exchange this for the BD-E5700/ZA. This new player also had wifi connectivity problems, so I called their Executive Customer Relations department for a refund. It's 5/3/2012, Samsung has their player, and Samsung has processed and Mailed my refund. Will now look for another brand Blu-ray with WiFi.

Design and performance problems

Well, it does play DVDs and it does stream from Netflix. But...
* You can't stream a video while a DVD is in the tray. The streaming is really jerky.
* I was never able to get used to the design of the remote. The button you use most often (Enter), is the center of a single flat up-down-left-right-enter control where the center (enter) is not even raised up. You can't use this control without looking at it. If you try to go by touch, you'll end up hitting the wrong part of the control and do bad things to your streaming (see next item)
* Fwd and Rev controls produce unpredictable results. Sometimes you have to hit them twice to get any response, and then you wait, and wait, and wait... to regain control at some seemingly arbitrary location in the DVD.
* The remote has to be pointed directly at the player
* It takes a long time to start a DVD
* It takes a long time to power up
* It even takes a long time to open the tray.
After 80 days of frustration, I gave up, returned it, cancelled my Netflix streaming account and went back to my old, fast, reliable, easy-to-use, inexpensive Sony Blue-Ray player.

Streaming is painful

The WIFI on this is horrendous !
I am a avid Netflix watcher and it's painful to watch on the Samsung blu ray player.
It stops and rebuffers every 30 secs to maybe a few minutes if you are lucky. Then it gives up and says "Cannot play this title at this time".
I have elite internet access. My boyfriend plays OnLive which is a streaming game console that streams in HD and it works fabulous. My Wii runs Netflix great but I wanted HD. That is why I bought this Blu Ray Player.

Video and audio cut out

I really liked all that this item had to offer. Ran in to a problem shortly after getting the unit. After playing a DVD, TV season, the video and audio would cut out and the counter would still be going. I would have to power cycle the player, sometimes multiple times, in order to get the player to come back on. Gets very frustrating.
Other than that, very easy to set up and very feature rich device. Can't recommend this with the problem though.

I bought it for net flix have not been able to get it to load. Was hard to set up but after 3 hrs on the FAQs and the live chat they told me to put in a service request. I should have just bought another Wii. What Junk, what a waste of time and money.

Bought this today. I own 3 Samsung flat screens and with this product 3 Samsung blu-ray players. This product is no where near as good as even my 3 year old player. I set everything up and was ready to watch Netflix. Wrong answer...Netflix app kept telling I was not connected. Hmmmm...went through firmware updates, reset, hard reset, unplug, turn off, reset modem, changing time zone, Samsung customer support and finally Netflix support. Netflix support told me they had just been notified of a problem with Samsung blu-ray players and Netfilx not working. That's weird, my other Samsung players stream Netflix just fine. I even double checked to make sure. Yep, all is working except for this model. Just notified that there is a problem???? Looked on-line and apparently this has been going on for at least a year. I am taking this product back. Now I like Samsung products, but this one is not good.

This system was purchased for an elder lady, to watch movies, and stream netflix. After two hours of trying to get the system to work with Netflix (the error is "Can't connect to network"), I finally had to re-box the system, and take it back to Walmart. I googled the player after about an of fighting with it, and found that this is a recurring issue with this bluray player, for over a year. Even after I downloaded the latest firmware, I still had the same problem. It was a very disappointing endeavor.
I have no idea if the picture quality is good, or if there is anything redeeming about this player, as I never got past this one problem.
If your intent is to buy a bluray player that can handle netflix - trust me, this is definitely going to be a nightmare for you!!!

I know Samsung is supposedly a quality name brand but after this player, I find I must disagree. I do hope it is limited to this as I have a Samsung refrigerator lol.
The features on the box do not come installed, you have to go to the app store and download them.
The remote leaves much to be desired. You have to type click each number one at a time till you get to your letter (like we used to do with cell phones to text until a keyboard was invented). Imagine how long this could take if you have a long password or even your email address. It also does not allow the use of special characters so if your wireless router password has special characters, you will have to change your wireless password.

I bought this last night, I was not able to connect to the internet so I called Samsung... the guy told me the Samsung network was down... That left me a tad confused as I thought I was loading from my network not Samsung's but he felt really strongly about the information he was providing. I tried it again this morning, of course it still was not working. Call the Samsung help desk again, after a 2 hr reboot, do this, do that their solution was for me to call my wireless network manufacturer and have them take of the filter to better allow the blu-ray to connect.
All in all, both reps did not know what they were doing. So this blu-ray is heading BACK to the store on Monday.

Probably a good piece of equipment for an electrical engineer or someone that is VERY careful to read EVERY word in the instructions but for a non-nerd like me that just wants something to work without having to spend hours setting it up it is NOT very useful. I will eventually get it set up all the way but I may not even try any more. I bought a Smart TV at the same time I bought this and I can do everything on it that I bought the DVD for. Waste of money for me.

This does everything I hoped for! If you have wifi on your computer, this (and the AV optical digital audio cable) is all you need to bring the available APS to your tv. I connected to NetFlix and Pandora. On Pandora I set up my favorite music and when I don't care to watch TV, it pipes in my own "radio station".

Be aware of this product...it does not work with netfix. After 2 weeks of trying to connect and talking to Samsung, I spoke with a rep at netfix who informed me that Samsung was having a problem with this particular model and was advised to return the product or exchange it.

Set-up was a breeze for this blu-ray player. Even with updating the firmware I had the player up and running in 20-25 minutes. It works pretty good. Have had a problem where it won't stop fast-forwarding and I have to cut it off, but that has only happen a few times. And is my only complaint thus far and I would recommend this product to friends/family. Should also mention that the main purpose of buying this player was to watch movies on Netflix and I haven't watched any blu-rays yet, but it plays my dvds wonderfully.

I was very pleased to find a BluRay player by Samsung for under $130 that also had built in WiFi and Samsung Smart Aps. I had recently bought a Samsung TV but it didn't come with Wifi so rather than spend $80 for the wireless LAN adapter I killed two birds with one stone and got the Blu-ray player figuring it would only be a matter of time before we wanted those as well. A bit disappointed to find out that Red Box and Netflix all charge extra to rent that format so while it's a great player we're using it more for regular moves and for the wireless connection to stream netflix but that's not Samsung's fault.
