First this was a internet order with pickup at their store same day. After driving to the store and returning home, I opened the package. The package was double taped so that should have been a warning to me. I opened the package and noticed that the controller bag was already opened. I looked for the batteries and couldn't find the two. I then opened the controller and found the inside filled with battery acid. Now this is a item taken off the shelve within the store to be picked up. I have no idea how this item got back on the shelve for resale, nor did the lady who helped me exchange the item. The up side was that the lady who helped me exchange the item gave me the same price that the internet offered. The store price was $88.99 and the internet price was $79.99. The second video player was brand new and works great. This is my second video player within two weeks. One for my wifes TV and this one for my TV.

I always wanted a smart television. There are so many gadgets out there to watch all these extra TV shows, movies and more, but how does one chose? How does one put it all together? I went to the Internet and researched Apple, Roku, etc., and decided on Roku. Next hurdle was installing it. I had the gadget itself and then all those wires and cords, I didn't think I could do it but I gathered some confidence and plowed ahead step by step. It wasn't hard, and the results are so exciting. There's Hulu and Netflix and so many stations and choices. It's almost limitless. Do I recommend this? Absolutely positively yes.

This is The best thing invented since the inventions of the wheel television & the internet...Great Product i've already recommended it to all my family and friends because it saves me $98 in cable bill each month since the day i purchased it...i've had it 6 months... You do the math of how much i've saved almost $600 you cant beat that when your on a budget and need to cut back on a few things just to survive in this day and time ...( I Love It )!!! i will buy another one next month for my sons room...He likes the games so he needs his own one...

The Roku XS is extremely easy to set up and use. I add the plex channel so I can watch movies streamed from my desktop and it works flawlessly. There are no skips, jitters or pauses in the videos I stream from my desktop. I should have bought one of these along time ago.

I love everything about this except once in awhile you have to reset the player with the remote. The company doesn't tell you how to do this either. I had to google it. You open the battery compartment and there is a purple button you push it until the lights blink. Then unplug the player and then turn it back on. It will then connect to the remote. I almost took the player back to Walmart because the remote didn't work. It has happened one more time since then. Otherwise I wouldn't let that stop you from buying this. It's a great little devise. My Granddaughter loves the angry bird game too.

I've been using my Playstation 3 to use stream services like Netflix & VUDU but now I can just save it for just playing games. Tons of channels to choose from that you can add to your menu. Great device at a reasonable price.

I really wanted to get rid of my dish and save some money so I bought the Roku box. 600 channels sounded great but I'm finding that the good ones require me to sign up and pay. They sure have a lot of bad old movies for free though. My Internet is a Verizon wireless Mifi router since I don't have any cables or phone lines going to my house and it's just not fast enough. Lots of buffering.
To sign up you need to put a credit card on file in case you want to watch something good. Or buy a game. I think my dish is a better value than the Roku box, but I like being able to watch netflix through it.

I have two Roku XS at my home, this one was purchased for my son and his family. They cut the cable cord many years ago and exclusively use online services for entertainment and news. This box brings all their services together in one device (netflix, hula plus, etc). In addition, there is a free Angry Bird game included for my grandchildrens. They are pleased with this unit, I purchased the XS unit because you can connect it up wireless or through an ethernet cable. I wanted them to have the option of installing the video player any way they wanted.

Remote too hot to handle

I bought this today and before I could even get it completely set up the batteries in the remote got so hot I couldn't even hold the remote! There is absolutely no reason for this and when i Googled the problem it seems other people had this happen too. I also noticed that the packaging had been opened as if it had been returned to the store before.. the previous customer more than likely had that problem and walmart just decided to put it right back on the shelf for me to buy.

Does not work with my Harmony 700 Universal Remote.Roku 2 XS enhanced remote uses radio frequency instead of infrared i believe. Current harmony remotes supports only Infrared controllable devices.
1080p looks great, still trying to get the 5.1 from Roku 2 xs to pass through.
tuneIN App hangs and buffers way too long, until i reset Roku.
I am guessing my older tech won't work with newer Roku 2 xs.

I play the games. I watch all the movies I want without commercial interruptions. I get the news...real news, not interpreted and censored for others benefit. I watched the Roku Channel Store grow and grow, and I added what I wanted. Others seeing my Roku2XS wanted one. You buy this, you will feel the difference...not just see it. Regular TV service (dish/cable) is just so yuck, I got rid of it. When I'm "down" I watch something that cheers me up...not what the networks shove at me. Get the little box, plug power cord into the wall, plug the HDMI cord into a TV HDMI slot, and plug the ethernet cord into a router linked to your computer & internet provider and then shout "Freedom!!!"
