Review 1 for Philips 4GB GoGear RaGa MP3 Player

The player itself works great but the earbuds broke within a couple weeks.
This mp3 player is just right for the gym. Great sound, earbuds, arm strap, etc. My previous Philips GoGear supported DRM files but it stopped working. I liked the previous one so much, so I decided to purchase another one. I loved everything about the new one, except the fact that it does not support DRM files. Although it did not state it did, it did state that it works with Rhapsody. I assumed that meant all Rhapsody subscriptions but it only allows you to add tracks that you have purchased, not the ones you download for free. I pay a monthly subscription so that I don't have to purchase individual tracks. I'm very, very disappointed that I have to return it.
Bought this for a holiday gift for my girlfriend. Gave her the gift early, and she absolutely hated the menu system. Also, the "select" button was often accidentally being pressed while trying to use the "down" button.
In summary, we thought that the overall physical size was slightly too small to have a GOOD menu system and GOOD button functionality. I bought her an 8GB Sansa to replace this one, and the Sansa functionality was very easy, very intuitive, and exactly the menu system that worked the way she wanted.
The device functions as advertised. The reason for only three stars is that it requires a large proprietary piece of software to be loaded on your computer in order to be able to properly load and use the device. Other brands do not require this.

Review 5 for Philips 4GB GoGear RaGa MP3 Player
Great product for simple needs

I didn't need something with a lot of bells and whistles. I only wanted a few things: -Drag and drop songs from my computer to my mp3 -Repeat songs -Easy to use -quality -cost effective
I got everything I wanted. You DO NOT need to install Philips song bird. You literally drag your songs into the raga icon. You just plug the USB in. The sound is great. It's nice and really simple. After playing around for a minute or so I figured out what everything does. It also charges quickly.
All I wanted was just to take my music with me and be able to control it. This does that.
I bought this MP3 player for my techno challenged mom for her birthday. While there aren't a lot of direction for how to operate, the system is pretty basic and you can play with it without messing up the system. If you are someone that knows how they basically work in general, you could navigate this operating system with no problem. The radio was good and using windows media, I downloaded a lot of songs from CD's I ripped. I was concerned because there was a disclaimer on the box that it wouldn't work with downloaded songs and I had a few, but it played those fine, so not sure what that was about. For the money, this seems to be a great deal. The armband is great to. Overall, this is a great small simple player, that I think is great for a beginner.
I had been looking for a player that had a FM radio on it so I can listen to the radio when I am walking.I saw the Philips 4GB on the internet and told my son about it.He stated that it was a great buy, because he had one that he loved until it melted in his car.So I ordered me one.The first thing I did was to see how the FM radio worked.I have a radio station here that I can only get it up stairs in my bed room. But my MP3 Player let me get it any where I am in the house and out side of my home. Now I listen to my Jazz on the Fisk radio station here in Nashville TN every day.I told my son about it and he wanted one also when I told him the price, so I order him one.My girl friend said,"she wanted one to walk with".I order her one,but it is an 8GB.She just wanted to listen to the music. She loves it.For the price, its great....Go Philips....
Happy with the purchase. I purchased it for my daughter who is 11. The ear buds wrap around ear and they are sooooo big. I think my ears are pretty average so most people will probably need to get diffrent ear buds.
I am very happy with the purchase that I made. It does come with an armband which has been very handy for me while I do my walking. It also came with a case, which is very helpful. Great sound! I would recommend this to anybody who is looking for an mp3 player.

Every time I tried to access the web pages for this product I was told they were having difficulties. The player had music on it that I did not put there & the system would not download my playlist. I expected a lot more from Philips. I am very disappointed.

Review 17 for Philips 4GB GoGear RaGa MP3 Player

I am giving this 4 stars for the ease of use and sound quality. I did have issues making the MP3 work with my computer. I have 8 USB ports on my computer 2 in the front and 7 in the back. I tried connecting the MP3 to the front ports and kept getting an error "the USB device is not recognized". I tried many different fixes without success. I plugged the MP3 into one of the ports on the back of my computer and it worked. I reset the MP3 to the factory defaults after I got it working because it was acting strange. Now that everything is working I have absolutely no complaints. It does what it is supposed to do, sounds good, volume is good in my headphones and the price was very good. It even works with the front USB ports now. I suspect some kind of power issue with my front USB ports and not the MP3.

Having no experience with an MP3 player, it is difficult to determine how it rates to any other, but... This is easy to program, easy to use, and does exactly what I need it to do. I have over 50 CDs loaded on it, and it isn't filled, yet. The sale price was better than I expected to pay. I don't believe that I could find a better value, and even went back to purchase 3 more for gifts.

a TOTAL waste of money and time. It had to download 4 updates before I could try to set up playlists. Took 2 hrs to update..............then quit completely. Returned the junk to the store and got my money back.

I bought this MP3 player for my sons 7th birthday. It has very few features but that is just what I was looking for. Very simple and easy for him to use. He loves it, it has a long lasting battery power and comes with an audio cord to hook it up to your radio. It also comes with headphones but those werent so great (keep in mind he is 7 they could fit an adult properly). Very happy with this product. Would buy again.
