Generic Danby 3.6-cu ft Chest Freezer
The Danby 3.6 cu. ft. Chest Freezer is perfect for placement in your garage, rec room or office, and fits neatly in smaller spaces for versatile freezer storage. Use it to freeze popsicles, TV dinners, meat, fish and more. The front-mount mechanical thermostat lets you customize the freezer's internal temperature, and the foam-insulated cabinet and lid keeps your food frozen. This versatile chest freezer also features a manual defrost function, and comes with a defrost drain and vinyl-coated basket.

Most Exellent Little Freezer Chest

The Hubs & I are finally empty nesters and after re-doing our condo, we had room in our eat in kitchen for a small freezer chest. I was a bit apprehensive in ordering such an appliance on-line, I do admit however all that faded away when the freezer-chest arrived in perfect condition and sooner than expected! Very smart looking chest I may add. I like the fact the corners are gently rounded, and it does not have that generic utilitarian look that so many freezer chests do. Installation was just plugging it in. It pulls only 100-125 watts and most electric outlets can handle about 2,000...the manufacterer does reccomend that it be the only appliance using the outlet. The plug is a three prong grounded type. The instructions state to run it 3-4 hours on the highest setting before loading up....then turn the temp control down to the ''2 O'clock' position to maintain. I followed these instructions and had no problems. The first thing I noticed is after the initial noise the condenser makes ( no noisier than most refridgerators) it ran very quietly-in fact I occasionally put my hand on the lid the first few days just assure myself it was running. This is not frost-free but the instruction booklet outlines defrosting which is reccomended once a year-and every so often you can scrape/remove frost build-up with a plastic/rubber spatula that occurs normally with the opening and closing of the appliance to remove /add items. Altho I filled it not quite half way, among the items are three 8 pound turkey breasts, 8 pounds of ground beef, a doz center cut pork chops,a 7 pound roaster chicken, 2 pounds of steelhead trout fillets, some country ham steaks, 3 one lb rolls of bulk sausage, and in the sliding basket I have three of the large family size bags of Ore-Ida Hash brown potatoes (for my lazy days )Plenty of room for more items. We have a year round farmers' market with organic grass fed ranchers so when we get over there, we can take advantage and buy the meats we like in bulk 'lots', and keep the freezer portion of fridge for bagged veggies & ice cream, and the occasional made ahead casserole.
It moves easily about on two back wheels/casters so pulling it out to clean, even if full, it's not difficult at all-and I am arthritic so.....
While I can not comment on durability, I did select his particular freezer based on other reviews. If you have small needs (for 2-4 people), limited space, and want to suppliment your fridge's freezer, consider this sweet little freezer-chest.

We ordered this small freezer for our winter place. We have a small place and this was perfect. We ordered it on 2-26-2013 and it arrived on 3-1-2013. Shipping only $12 and change to our house.I only gave it 4 stars for durability because we've only had it for 3 weeks. From when we plugged it in it has worked quiet and perfect. I have the control set at 10 oclock. It stays at 8 below 0. I don't think you will go wrong if you buy this.

I have had this for just a couple of months so I can't speak to its durability but and so far so good. Good for a small kitchen. Also, it holds a lot of stuff.
I gave it a 4 because it arrived with two small dents on the front side. I wanted a replacement but it was out of stock at the time so I kept it.

It stops working

I purchased this freezer and it worked well to begin with, but after about 4 months it stopped working. I unplugged it for 10 minuets and it started working again. I thought, problem solved. Now it quits working about every week. I unplug it and plug back in and it will work again, but this has cost a significant amount in lost food. Now I do not put anything in it as it is very unreliable! I would not purchase this again!

I was very surprise how quiet it is and it works wonderful for our needs. This is perfect for storing extra meats and other frozen items. I am very happy with this purchase and this was delivered to us by FedEx in great shape!

This freezer suits our needs perfectly and so far it is humming along nicely. I appreciate the fact that you can move it easily too, as it rolls. My only complaint was the shipping as the freezer arrived with an obvious ding in the side but since it didn't impact the function, I didn't see it as a big issue. It is too soon to say how well it will work but installation was a breeze and it seems to fit our needs for a small adjunct freezer. The price was reasonable and the maker has good reviews. Time will tell...

I haven't used my new freezer yet, so I can't comment on it's durability. It looks great and is the perfect size. I was very pleased with the speed this order was processed. My concern is that if you are expecting to have it delivered by Fedex, be very watchful. They delivered it to the wrong address even though my house numbers are very clearly read from the road. I eventually found it at a neighbors and he graciously carried the 70 pound crate to my house. The driver lied about where he put the carton and Fedex lied about the kind of trucks that they are using. The truck was marked Penski rental and they said they never use anything without the Fedex name. They were polite, but I got the feeling they didn't really care. This is not Walmart's fault, but I hope they will lodge a complaint with Fedex...they have a much bigger voice than I do.

I like this chest freezer but I SOOO wish I would have just gotten a 5cf one instead. 3.6 is just too small. I think it would be a better deal too since the are about the same price. But it does work well, I have had no problems with it and it looks nice. Just fills up WAY to fast. If you really want this one Ill trade ya for a 5cf one.? :)

I puchased this freezer on June 23 2012 to keep my fish and meats in. I pluged it in and let it get cold, after letting it cool down over night the next day i put ALL of my fish and meat in the freezer. It was working great until about 6 week later. I smell fish, open the door and everything is defrosted and is leaking out the bottom of the freezer. Walmart refunded my money for the freezer. When i called DAnby to see about getting refunded some money for the food that i had in it, they said there is nothing they could do. Thats poor customer service!!!

We love the freezer and it's doing a great job; HOWEVER, it came with dents and dings all over it!!! That was very unsatisfactory but since it still worked and just in garage, my husband said we'd keep since we needed the freezer that same day.

Well i've had this little freezer for 6 mon's now
Run's very quit it hold's a lot of food.
I live in mobilhome so i don't have a lot of room so i have it in my kichen.
The size is prefect..It has 2 wheels on the back ..2 leg's on the front.
Very easy to move even when it's full..You won't go wrong if you buy this freezer.
