I purchased these for my 18 month old grandsons--after I discovered that we wanted more blocks than a smaller set contained--and built a fort they could enter standing. They had a ball climbing through openings, plastering their faces against windows and running in and out. The set is mostly larger bocks--7.5"L, 3.5"W and 3" deep--with smaller blocks 1/2 as wide. They go together easily and stay together well but are also easy to pull apart. They built a very sturdy fort and we were able to span openings to allow entry. There are a few clear plastic pieces we used for windows. They were difficult to see once installed, so we put stickers on them. Everyone, regardless of age--18 months to over 70--did some construction with them. We couldn't keep our hands off them. They are large and light enough for the 18 month old to pull apart and put together, but the 18 month old enjoyed the finished product more than the construction. You are limited in what you can make only by the number of blocks and your imagination. They are large, and the more the better, but they do require some room for storage and construction. In a home with young children they would probably be stored as whatever they were used to build. We store them in the garage in the original box when the grandchildren go home.

The 48 block set was just the right amount for my 1 and 3 year old to play with together. The blocks are huge and sturdy, as depicted in the picture, but they did come in a neat, tight box that was not hard to carry to my car or get home. Obviously, though, since the blocks are so oversized, they take up a lot of space unless you have some place to store them. Our entire family has fun making new things with the blocks every week (castle, throne, car, etc.) I appreciate the value of the product and also its size- I never have to worry about stepping on some tiny unseen lego on my floor!
