The Mainstays Offset Outdoor Umbrella Base makes your patio a comfortable place to enjoy the outdoors. This umbrella base drains to enable easy storage and transportation. This easy-to-use patio umbrella base features handles and wheels for convenient portability, thus makes sure that your outdoor trips are full of fun and comfort. It forms a stable base for both 8.5' and 11' offset umbrellas, when filled with water or sand. This base is built in such in way that it can hold up to all weather conditions. Support your offset patio umbrella with this weather-resistant umbrella base and get ready to have fun in the sun.
I purchased two of these to shade my above ground pool. I also purchased the base that you fill with water to hold it down. Usually by this time of year our pool is like bath water. Thanks to these huge umbrellas the water still is cool. They assemble easily and stand up well in a moderate wind. I roll them down at nite or if it is too windy. I read other reviews of problems with these but I have had none. crank them nice and easy and you will not have a problem.

Review 2 for Mainstays Offset Outdoor Umbrella Base
Over all, it works just as expected. We have an 8'X8'cantalever umbrella. With moderate breezes, the pole only wiggled as expected. No worry of tipping over. I would have preferred a different color choice. (Tan instead of brown) And, it's a bit bulky. But that is a function of cost savings and function. It works well though. We hope the plastic survives the sun and winter storage.

I searched and searched for a right priced offset base. Walmart won hands down. Filled with water, this base securely holds a cantilever umbrella once you add either sand or water to the base.

Review 4 for Mainstays Offset Outdoor Umbrella Base
At first I was hesitant to buy this umbrella base as the umbrella I bought was advertised as having a "sturdy" base on its own. Then when I opened the box and saw it was just a plastic contraption, I was even more disappointed. Well, flash forward a week to when I was setting up my new offset umbrella in a slight breeze and it threatened to whisk me away like Mary Poppins--at that point I was really happy I had the foresight to invest in the base. It has grooves on the underside to permit it to fit snugly over any standard umbrella base, and wheels to help you wheel it around once full. I filled it with water and it's like having a block of concrete weighing down the umbrella, which is not going anywhere now. My only suggestion is to figure out exactly where you want it before filling it as it is very difficult to move after that.

This was not an umbrella and stand. Picture shows like it is. When I tried to buy the umbrella part from Walmart online, I could find one. Very inconvenient.

i did some internet research and compared prices for offset umbrella bases. this was the most affordable and much much better then using paver stones like the umbrella instructions suggested. easy to fill with water. this stand is not moving at all, even when the wind picks up and my son has forgotten to close the umbrella. we haven't tried to move it yet. there is a handle area and it comes with wheels attached. it's very heavy so i hope we don't have to move it anytime soon.

The base for my umbrella works well but is big and clunky - not terribly attractive. I would opt for the less expensive alternative of using large square pavers which can be nicer looking and less obtrusive.

Review 11 for Mainstays Offset Outdoor Umbrella Base
Not High Quality

I had previously purchased an umbrella from Walmart about 4 years ago. I paid less for it and it was much better quality. Water fill base was included in the price. I had to purchase a separate base for this one for an additional $55. It also had solar lights. Material was heavier. The string broke twice on that one. With the comparision I've done, this umbrella seems ok for the price. However, I don't have high hopes for the string lasting very long. It looks very thin. It is already difficult to turn the crank to close the umbrella. Oh well, you get what you pay for.

I'm so glad I bought this for my Jordan 10 ft offset umbrella. Always thought an offset umbrella could stand on it's own...The first gust of wind & mine was over. This stand is a must have! Once you fill it with sand or water your umbrella isn't going anywhere! It's a little pricy for a piece of plastic, but well worth it! It's also bigger and heavier than I thought, but it's on wheels for easy placement.

I LOVE this umbrella. My only regret is that I did not buy two of them. The umbrella stand comes as one piece. It took five minutes to fill with water and is very sturdy.

Base Required

You certainly cannot have an offset umbrella without the base, but this seemed over priced (it is a light-weight hollow plastic cube). I filled mine with water and have not had any problems with leaks. I would recommend storing in garage or on driveway when not in use, it will kill the grass that it covers if left out. Overall-I'm happy with this base.

Easy to set up. You wil need a strong person to lift the umbrella high enough to fit into the stand slot. The base is easy too use, sold alone. (they were hard to find and you may have to shop at different stores if more than one is needed)
I love the look. Anyone would be happy to have these to accent their yard or deck.

You've heard it before, you get what you pay for. Huge, bulky, an eye-sore unless you're using it on a dark wood deck and don't mind staring at this plastic tub! I returned it almost immediately. I purchased four 18" pavers at home depot for less than $8 each instead. Now I'll enjoy looking at my pool & garden instead of a dark brown suitcase on my pool deck.

I received this and was a little skeptical that this would hold the offset umbrella I received. I have to say I was very suprised at how sturdy this was! It holds great! My kids even forgot to put the umbrella down during a thunderstorm and although the umbrella was blowing in the wind, the base held strong. The only issue I've had is mine came missing the wheels. I'm working on getting them now.

Works great

We bought two different umbrella bases for offset umbrellas this summer and I like the one that I got at Wal-Mart better because it seems sturdier, it's all one piece and it has wheels on it if we decide to move it and it has not even acted like it would blow over. I would definitely reccomend this product and it was cheaper than the other umbrella base also.
