I've been shopping around for new bikes for the family. Everything is so expensive!! This past weekend I went to Walmart to see what they had in stock. Bought 2 women's bikes for my wife and daughter and this one for myself. What a sweet ride!! It's stylish, well built, and fun to ride. My son liked it so much, I ordered him one and it arrived today. Very easy to assemble, took me about 30 minutes. Very happy with our our purchases. Just to add, I NEVER write reviews! But this deserved a a good review.

Great looking sturdy bike. Comfortable. Only complaint is that the peddle clicks when you peddle for some odd reason. Probably just mine or the way I put it together.

My husband loves this bike. Great for exercising and for fun riding. Easy to maneuver and he enjoys the smooth ride. Wonderful product for a senior who doesn't want all the "Bells and Whistles"

With me being 6' 1" and pushing 400 pounds I needed to exercise some and my little guy wanted to ride bikes. So I purchased this bike for me and another for my wife. Leary about this bike let alone any bike being able to hold my weight this bike seems to do just fine. The only gripe I have at this time is that because of my knee reolacement my knee doesn't bend as it should so I have to keep the seat up a few inches higher than I would like so my knee will bend enough while I peddle the bike. I was also concerned that the bike was a 1 speed but the geariing is such that it is easy to ride and not a strain on my knees.

Review 6 for Genesis Onyx 29" Cruiser Bicycle
A tall bike for big boys

Bought it assembled at Walmart Englewood Florida. Young lady in sporting goods recommended it based on my needs. It is a basic bike with one gear that will carry at least 260# for as far as you want to pedal. Nothing fancy, very little to go wrong, just pedal where you want to go and feel the burn. What used to take me 1-1/2 hours at a brisk walk now takes about 30 minutes with me feeling the results more. My ride takes me from Oyster Creek Dr to San Casa to the park entrance through the trails and back to OC Dr. Saw a bobcat the other evening on the trails. It doesn`t get any better than this. Great value for the money.

I bought this for my husband who has a large athletic 6'4" frame. This bike is perfect for him to take our 4 and 6 year old on bike rides to the nearby park and on paved bike paths around the neighborhood. He even sent me a picture of it parked in the bike rack at the park and titled it "The Cruiser." He said it is comfortable, the tires are big enough to easily ride over curbs, and the all black color looks great. I did a site to store purchase, and it was in stock and ready for me to pick up within the same day.

Overall, the bike is what I expected. I was disappointed that there were not any accessories that I wanted that were available, and I had to get them at a bike shop, ie, a rear pannier rack. In addition, I was not satisfied with the kick stand which was too small/thin for this big of a bike and I had to buy a sufficient one. However, I knew when I ordered the bike that this was a problem as it was reported in other reviews. In addition, the caliper brakes slipped and would not adequately stop the bike. Again, I had to have my bicycle shop to correct this. They said that the manufacturer had loaded the axel with too much grease which caused this problem. They removed some of the grease and put it back together. The brakes stop better, but still not sufficiently. This was at an cost out of my pocket of $26+ dollars.

I'm filling this out for my fiance. We haven't ridden bikes since we were both teenagers and we really wanted to get back into it. Since he is now 6'7 and 300+lbs, we needed to find a bike for him that was both tall enough, and sturdy enough to fit him comfortably and safely, but we can't afford to pay a thousand dollars for a bicycle that we might only ride once or twice before we lose interest and move on to something else. But anyway, this bike is FANTASTIC! It's definitely tall enough, I'm 5'6 and the handlebars are almost at my chin!! This bike is also quite sturdy. He has ridden it up and down our dirt road quite a few times and he says he feels completely safe riding it. The tires are big and beefy and he says it's extremely easy to peddle once you get going, even though there are no gears....He wasn't too thrilled with the handlebars, because its a cruiser bike and not a mountain bike style like he rode when he was smaller, but he doesn't even mind them anymore, he just rests his arms on the bar instead of holding the grips on the ends of the bar. Most of the reviews complain about the stickers on the bike, we left them on, they look pretty stylish. The bike was super easy to assemble, just buy a cheap set of Allen Wrenches (5bucks). One thing you need to know, IF YOU ARE NOT AT LEAST 6FEET TALL, THIS BIKE IS TOO BIG FOR YOU!! I was going to try to ride it, and for me, only being 5'6, it was like attempting to climb up onto a horse, lol. THIS BIKE IS HUGE. My fiancé says it makes him feel like a little kid again :) in conclusion, if you are over 6' tall and over 200lbs, this bike is perfect for you, and even better for your budget. BUY IT! I just wish they had a Women's 26" bike in this same style, I'd buy it in a heartbeat! I'm totally jealous of his bike and mine cost us twice as much as what we paid for this one! Lol. GREAT VALUE for a BIG GUY (or gal)

Review 12 for Genesis Onyx 29" Cruiser Bicycle
I am a big guy and I love this bike!

I am about 6'3" and 240 lbs and 26" cruisers just don't fit guys my size. This bike is AWESOME. I bought a small gas powered engine that mounts on the back wheel of a bike and powers it via a friction drive. I was looking for a bike big and beefy enough to hold both me and the engine, and I have to say this thing is fantastic for that. The big sturdy wheels have way more than average spokes to support heavier weights, and the frame is large and sturdy as well #but not heavy, as it's all aluminum#. Everywhere I ride this bike, I get people wanting to look at it and they all want to know where I got the engine and where I got the bike. They always seem surprised when I tell them it came from Walmart.

Review 14 for Genesis Onyx 29" Cruiser Bicycle
Poorly made

I purchased this bike in May of 2012 because of the reviews saying it could hold a lot of weight. I'm 6'6" and 280lbs, so this felt like a great bike for me. The first couple of rides were great--a couple miles each time. I knew it would be tough w/o gears, and that was fine. But after the 3rd or 4th trip, it was evident that the bearings were out of wack. Also, I had to tighten the pedal to the bike on many instances because they easily became loose. After about 4 months the handle bars were becoming loose. No tightening could get them to be secure as they started to become stripped. The bike is unable to be rode at this point. I'm awaiting my refund as I purchased the extended warranty, which has been a flawless process thus far. I'll be purchasing a different bike once the check comes.

It's big, 29 inch wheels, and surprisingly very light! It took just a few minutes to put together and I love it. It has the old school look and rides very smooth! I have cruised around the lake and people like it a lot. Great ride for a low price!

Easy to put together. I put handle bars with forks backwards.Still rode just fine.Whoops. TAKE all Stickers off immediately. Shiny glossy black looks like you are pedaling an old Cadillac. Comfortable to the extreme. I am 6'3" 300lbs. You sit up nice and high, elevated position.and cruise Old School Cool.Shiny black bike with white wall tires.Makes you remember when this sort of thing was made in USA.Seat was damaged in shipping,Since there is a Walmart in every town I just took back the defective product with receipt and swapped out parts. Sad part is my wife confiscated it for herself .Will be buying another.Bike strongly resembles Schwinn Corvette cruiser albeit $300 left in your pocket. You decide.

Review 18 for Genesis Onyx 29" Cruiser Bicycle
Still Solid After 6 Months
,
03/18/2013

I commute to work via bicycle 4 miles round trip daily. After owning two Huffy Cranbrook cruisers that fell apart after a year of daily use I decided to spend a little more this time around and purchase the Onyx 29" by Kent Bicycles.
The first impression is that the bike is HUGE. I mean really big. I'm 6'1" and bike fits me perfectly, I would not recommend this model for those under 6'. The large frame and 29" tires makes this model feel rather large.
The bike is an eye-catcher. Two different people stopped and asked me about the bicycle on my walk between the sporting goods section and the register. This bike will certainly turn heads and has nice lines.
This bicycle was built with a solid construction. I did experience an issue with the handle bars. Apparently whomever assembled the bike in-store failed to tighten the stem properly and it became stripped after a month of use. I called Kent bicycles directly and after providing proof of purchase a new set of handlebars was shipped to me immediately.
Besides the handlebar issue (which was a Walmart issue) I have been satisfied with the build quality. The crank, hubs, wheels are are still in great shape after 6 months. I'm also still on the original tubes that came with the bike.
If I could find a fault it would be the stock seat, which was uncomfortable and promptly replaced with a Schwinn pillow-top seat. Otherwise I can highly recommend this model

I took off all the stickers from my Onyx and it looks gorgeous--all black and classy. Any leftover glue comes right off with a little Goof-Off cleaning fluid.
