If you're one to appreciate real depth in color, you'll enjoy the 100,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio that produces accurate colors with truly deep blacks and brighter whites. The wide 178-degree vertical and 178-degree horizontal angles allow you to view the screen from anywhere in the room with clarity. The built-in ATSC digital/NTSC analog tuner receives digital signals. Note: You must have a source of HD programming in order to take full advantage of the VIZIO 42" Class 1080p LED-LCD HDTV. I went from a 19" screen to this 42" screen so any improvement would be excellent to me. I researched this model before purchasing it and it was rated as top quality by Shop Smart magazine, a consumer's report magazine for women. I wish that the tv had a higher sound quality but the sound system is excellent. The features are also excellent. I did not give it 5 stars only because the intructions for these other features are not that easy to follow. But overall I love this tv. I can't stop watching it.

Love the TV

I have never owned my own LED-LCD and all of my friends have Vizio's and I love the picture and sound in them so I did a little research on different sizes and specs. I didn't mean to purchase this one I meant to get the LED with WiFi but after setting this TV up and watching it a good bit I have fell in love. WiFi was just an bonus for me with all the different devices I didn't have to have the WiFi on the TV because I can stream Netflix and Hulu through my Wii. The sound on this TV is awesome, I knew I would like it because my laptop has the same SRS surround on it as well. The picture is great to me and I am just like wow all the time because I can see everything. I do run off of HDMI and watch HD channels and I do not have any complaints. Color is bright and vibrant!!! I have told everyone how much I love my new TV.

I just bought this TV on 3-29-2012 and already I have to call the Vizio Company repairman to come out and fix it. The TV doesn't come on at all, the only thing I see on the TV is the orange light on the bottom front of the TV and nothing else.

Great TV for a bargin price!

We are very please with this TV . After our 42" Haier died, we did a lot of searching. There were not a lot of LED's out there with 1080p and 120hz. We looked local at many major stores including WalMart. We went online to Order Walmart , prices were lower than in store, and had free in store PU . Recieved it in less time that was expected. The Picture and features are great. Easy Hook up. Sound is great for us, very much like what we have had , having a small room. Those that are expecting a really big surround sound , would advise to hook up to alternate sound system. But over all excellent TV for a budget price. Would advise to get the extended warranty on line as well... cost much more in store! Thanks WalMart!

The only nit I have with this set is sound quality, which is lacking. It is quite adequate for most programming, but for movies or Music Choice, I'm sure glad I have an A/V receiver and external speakers with more bass response. The picture quality is top notch, especially on 1080p Blu Ray movies. The 42" size is ideal for my family room - not excessively huge and not too small.

We loved this tv until it quit on us after 15 months. All of a sudden half of the screen was white. Vizio would not help us because warranty expires after one year. Can't believe we wasted our money!! Bought a samsung this time around and extended warranty!

power supply defective after 3 months

Purchased the tv, picture is pretty good, but the power supply went out and it's only been 3 months. The repair company never showed up for the appointment they set, no calls, not even Vizio can't get a hold of the repair company, and because I'm within in the service response time frame, I was told I just have to wait for them to call me. And to call them back if I don't hear from them in 2-4 more business days. This will make 2 weeks without the tv.

Not happy at all!

I did my research on this product and was very excited when I got it home. After 10 days I tried to turn it on and no picture. I called tech support and was told it needed to be switched out after I faxed my receipt to them. I did what was requested and was then told it could be fixed but a technician would have to come to my home. We were contacted and was told that after they ordered the part they would set the appointment. It would take 5-7 business days. I have called the tech support 3 times and got 3 totally different answers on how they were going to resolve this issue. I personally do not want this particular tv. Unless I want to buy another tv this is my only option. So I am not happy at all!

I read a lot of reviews before I purchased this flat screen. This was my first flat screen & did not know what to watch for when purchasing, so I wanted to see what problems other people were having with their purchases so i can know what to ask the sales person when I go to the store. Everyone must have wanted the same thing because all the televisions I asked for were out of stock (I was looking for a 32" t.v.). So finally I decided on this one. While waiting in line to checkout, a young couple passed & saw the t.v. in my basket. They said that they had purchased the same one & loved it. Picture shows great. Everyone says that the people look real. My kids play the XBox on it and it looks like you are watching a real game. Sound quality is great. I have been having this t.v. for a year and I have had no trouble with it. I found that it was kind of expensive at the time I purchased it (approx. $650.00), but if it last a long time it will really be worth it.

This TV is exactly what I was looking for. I spent a long time going over many TV's from many different stores and this one was the biggest TV for the lowest price that met my wants. Good picture quality. Big enough screen for my small apartment. Sound is decent but I have a 5.1 setup so not a big issue. I use the TV sound for my Wii and it is good. Plenty of inputs for my different devices. I am definitely enjoying this purchase.

I wanted a T.V. with excellent picture ,sound and, a lot of options. This is the best one for the price!!! It even beats Sony with the picture because Sony is blurry. It's thin too!! I would highly recommend this T.V. Its well worth the price.

still not sure if this is the one i want or not. picture quality isn't where i thought it should be, being that this is a led/lcd hdtv. i thought it would pop some more, however, am still tweaking and adjusting picture therefore cannot say for sure. stay tuned...
the tv, itself, is easy on the eyes. i like the slim feature but wish the base was constructed better. doesn't feel solid when turning to the left or right. make sure you lift it before you turn/move it.
* i selected "yes" when prompted would i recommend it or not because maybe wasn't an option.
