I have owned this TV since Sept 2011. I loved it. A couple days ago, it just quit working. The TV shut down and the standby light went off and we can't get it to turn on. I googled the problem and was surprised to see all the complaints of people who have owned this TV for just over a year. When I bought the TV the reviews were good.......but just over a yr later.........not so good. I bought the Walmart extended insurance. It can take up to 10 days for the box to get here.I was cautioned to pack it exactly like it says and it can take the company up to a month to diagnose the problem..., and then fix it. So I could be out of a TV for quite a while. They should have done a recall of this product and saved us all this trouble. I have already bought one for my mom, hers is just 2 months old and I ordered the 19 inch, but because of this I am going to cancel the order.

This set was purchased based on the VIZIO brand, and the competitive price. Performance is good, right out of the box. There were no set-up delays, and a manual is not needed, though there is one on the VIZIO website. The audio is OK, and is as expected. Addition of an exernal sound bar would improve the listening experience. This unit replaced a nine-year-old SONY 23" set that weighed almost 90 pounds -- this one weighs 26 pounds.

I was at the Walmart on Black Friday and bought the Emerson 32" TV for $148.00. What a huge mistake! Lost the receipt and returned it to Walmart for an even exchange for this TV. WOW. I had never really heard of Vizio until the LCD HDTVs were becoming common place, and I assumed (falsely so) that this brand, since its a Walmart exclusive, must not be that good. I was wrong! First thing when I open the box I notice is that Vizio gives you a BRAND NEW screw driver free of charge - I know this sounds ridiculous to be excited about, but how courteous of them - they know you're going to need it to set up the TV stand, so why not include it? The TV stand was very simple to put on. You plug the TV in and the interface is very USER FRIENDLY. It gives you step by step instructions on setting up the TV to the right settings. Also, the product comes with lifetime support - so if you need assistance, the company will aid you in whatever you need. This did not come with any of the other TV's that I've had. For the sound, I turned my speakers off and plugged in an RCA cable in the back with an adapter for a 3.5mm headphone jack so I can use my PC speakers as surround sound. Has optical audio port as well, as well as two HDMI ports. LOVE this TV!

Failed at the 1-year mark

This TV was great for the price when i bought it back on December 7th 2011. It worked fine for just under 12 months. Then out of nowhere, one night 12/7 I turned it on and it completely froze on the VIZIO home screen. It would not accept the cable line coming in and I could not even turn it off without unplugging the power source. Really convenient that it would happen so close to the 1 year warranty deadline dont you think?? Currently dealing with Vizio now to get a refund or replacement.

Ordered a 1080p 32" Sceptre online, received it last week, it was AWFUL!! Returned it, got a 720p Vizio 32" for $30 more. This TV has a great picture and sound is great, too! For $248 you can't get a better TV. If you're leary, get the extended 3 year warranty for an additional $28. My adult son has had this same TV for 2 years now and has had no problems.

BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH

I purchased this tv for my birthday on 12-03-11. As of November 2012, I've had nothing but problems. First, the home screen (the Vizio logo) would get stuck on the screen when I turned it on. A few days later, I heard a hissing sound coming from the back. The nail in the coffin was when a week after the hissing, I turned the tv on and nothing happened. The orange VIZIO light near the bottom is on but the screen is empty and black. Hitting the power button on the tv and remote does nothing. From a little research, this problem is common and costs just as much as the cost of a new tv to repair the power supply board.
I have until Monday, 12-03-12, to call Vizio support to see if there is anything that can be done to replace/repair this thing. From Vizio's website, you have to have the original packaging to return it to them which is unfair and I think it's Vizio's way to deny a claim before it even begins. This tv model is inherently buggy and this "black screen of death" is common.
This tv was used maybe 12 times, an hour each time, in my bedroom. I do not, in good conscience, recommend Vizio brand tv's unless you really need something disposable to watch a seasons worth of television. This is the 2nd Vizio tv and the 2nd to have a power supply problem. My LG's are going strong with no problems.

Was looking for a TV to replace an older console, cable TV service. This TV was easy to hook up, delivers excellent sound and great picture. Be warned, if you lose the remote your sunk, there's not even a power on/off button on the TV itself. All in all a great TV and a great value!
