Missing guide function

I love this TV. The picture is bright, vivid, and colorful. It's like looking through a picture window. Old shows and movies have a newly found clarity to them that I have never experienced before. The menus are easy to follow, and give the user a lot of functionality.
All of the "smart" functions work fine, including Internet streaming. Except for the Guide button. The purpose is to display the upcoming over-the-air programs on the current channel. Pushing it brings up current data, but not the future schedule.
By Email, Vizio customer service recommended that I completely reset the TV. This is time consuming, and re-entering all of my info and preferences afterward, is even more so. Result: no change.
I was then advised to speak with a representative. After being put on hold, he came back and apologized that the guide function has been removed from Vizios, and that the owner's manuals have not been updated. The reason given is that most viewers use cable and satellite guides, so they discontinued that function. That doesn't make much sense, with so many people still watching over-the-air broadcasts.
A quick Internet search found that Vizio lost a lawsuit with the provider of that function, and were forced to stop installing it. True or not, that makes sense.
Regardless of the reason, you will have to determine for yourselves how important a loss it is. I'm not happy about it, but it diminishes my pleasure with this fine equipment only slightly.

I researched for 2 months before we bought. My husband was not real convinced this was the TV we should get, but finally caved in and good thing he did! He loves it, I love it, everyone we know loves it. Numerous times we have been asked what we have paid for it and needless to say everyone is mind blown at the price. No way will you ever get a better deal...this TV has the best picture I have ever seen. Plus the internet apps you can't beat....we have decided to get TV in smaller sizes for all of our rooms. If you are concerned about sound...it's good, but I will say we went ahead a month later and bought the Vizio sound bar with sub to add to the surround sound.....talk about another amazing purchase. Can't beat them....and you can't beat the pricing.

I love this TV! I wanted a Vizio after seeing my son's TV. The price was right too. I chose to have it shipped to my home and got it within a week. Easy set up and the picture is great! My previous TV was a Sanyo 42" so this is a real upgrade for me

Vizio motherboard problems

We bought the Vizio because it seemed to have the best picture of all the TVs we looked at. However the motherboard went out in 18 months and every company selling the part is back ordered out the ears. Some of the techs I spoke to said the motherboards went out much sooner than ours in many cases. None of the parts suppliers can give me any idea of how long it will take to get a new one. It appears that Vizio is going through motherboards like water through a fork. Even if you buy an extended warranty the TV can't be fixed without the part. I highly recommend you purchase another brand such as LG or Samsung before buying a TV that takes months to get repaired. Oh yes.......Vizio will not any be of any help with this problem.

DO NOT BUY VIZIO!

Bought this TV from Walmart.com in October of 2010. TV always had problems of resetting at least 2 times a day (resetting takes about 5 minutes). Contacted customer support with no help whatsoever other than check all inputs and cables. Then 1080P would only have good colors and clarity after about 10minutes of watching a movie with Directv or Bluray. Some good an HDTV is without 1080P. Contacted customer support again and all they did was reset the entire TV to original state....this did not help the problem. Now today I still have all the problems listed above and now I have horizontal color bars across the screen while trying to watch anything (see videos on Youtube of this widespread problem). Contacted customer support again and they said that since it is out of warranty that nothing can be done other than paying to have it fixed. This is ridiculous. I paid over $1900.00 for this TV to only last like 16 months. Do not buy this TV or any Vizio products. Customer service is horrible. Warranty is horrible. Product is horrible, unreliable, and cheaply made.

great tv, poor sound

i've had my tv for almost a year now and it's still working great. the only issues i've had with the tv is, every now and then the sound stops working, so i have to shut it off then turn it back on and that fixes the problem. the sound quality is ok but it lacks bass, so i hooked up a powered sub and that fixed the bass problem. overall it's picture quality is exellent. i didn't realize how much of a difference there was between 120hz and 240hz until i compared my tv with my parents, night and day difference. 240hz was the way to go. my tv stays on for about 12 hours a day and is still as reliable as the first day i got it. great tv for the price.

My daughter and I had no trouble figuring out how to set up TV. We love it. We had been shopping around for quite a while. We finally decided to purchase this online (saved almost 100.00 from price at store). It arrived within a week. I am very satisfied with my purchase. I love that is built-in wireless. The only but is: wish it had a web browser so I can log into PBS and watch my favorite shows from the site.
It is very comparable to SONY Bravia..which my son bought this past Christmas. My TV is as good as his. YAY!

This TV replaced a 5 year old plasma and I'm very happy with this Viso 55 inch LED TV. I was looking for a LED, 240 hz Non-3D 55" 1080p set and after reading the reviews decided on this one. Even after 2 weeks I still get blown away with the picture especially in HD. The setup was easy and the menus are easy to navigate. The only minor complaint I have is that it does take a little while for the set to come on.

After much research, going store to store and actually buying a tv and returning to get this this one, I am confident to say that this is by far the best value. First, 3D does not matter to me. Otherwise this TV has all the specs other brands have that cost 500 more. Picture is sharp, crisp and smooth. Easy hookup and getting up and running took me about 5 minutes. Haven't watched netflix yet but internet seem ok. Sound was lacking but for the price, I was able to add the vizio sound bar and it is more than adequate now and still much less expensive than other brands with the addition. Overall, if you want a very good TV, great picture and 3D doesn't matter to you, this is the TV

Good TV, good quality, good price, robust packaging. Worked out of the box, no problem.
Of course it came with junk, good thing you do not have to use it. If you have a PC with HDMI output, you do not need the TV internet connection. A waste. Ability to stream stuff from computers in my LAN would have been usefull, but it is not obvious... Anyway, it is good as a plain TV, the rest is rubbish.

Great HD TV so far.

My only wish is that one of the 4 HDMI inputs was on the back in the center so my cable didnt have to stretch all the way to the left side when my receiver is all the way on the right side.
