Got this gun and used it in a battle. It was OK at first because I used Golden Ball Pro Slick ammo, But when I refilled it with .20 Gram Crosman BB's. It jammed as soon I pulled the trigger and when I finally unjammed it, it jammed again, and again, and again. When it finally stopped jamming, the BB's just rolled out, then started blowing out plastic shaving's from the gear box. Now it just squeling, So I took it back. DO NOT GET THIS GUN!

If you are a beginner in airsoft this is the gun for you. Its the best gun at walmart other than Black ops M4 but other than that this is the best. Buy this gun and you will win every battle. Every time a bring this gun out at an airsoft war it has never let me down or jammed. The fps is great for the price and now my friends are getting this gun. Buy this gun!!!

The R76 is hands down THE BEST CQB (Close Quarter Battle) Gun in the market. (it does have an effective range of 200ft accurate) Most of the bad reviews I read seem to be due to mistaken identity.
I own 2 DP80s and 1 R76 and planning to purchase another R76 (I own more different models, but thats beside the point)
The DP80 and R76 and very similar in appearance, especially if you don't own one. (reading the reviews, its seems people who DON'T own one feel they publish their "opinions")
And the first batch of R76s are almost identical to the DP80 until they changed little things like tri-rails and a different muzzle for the newer R76s.

Both units are replicas of the famous AK74u (the smg version of the AK47).
The R76 has a metal gearbox and will never have its gears stripped... the DP80 does have plastic gears and do wear down in time. (the DP80 is a good gun in its own right... I own 2)
So if anyone "CLAIMS" the R76 has stripped gears and fps goes below 200... that's a DP80 they are referring to. (DP80 fps is 275 with plastic gears. And ANY airsoft gun with stripped gears WILL NOT fire... again... don't believe opinions please)
Now back to the product... lets pick it apart. (figuratively of course)

*375fps - the perfect ALL AROUND FPS. Some people might say... well it doesn't go over 400fps. Which makes this gun the most versatile gun. In certain airsoft parks/games/scenarios... you are NOT allowed to use guns that go 400fps.
375fps is powerful enough for range/penetration, but legal to use in all scenarios.
*High Capacity - 500rds up to 600rds (600rd clip sold seperately) - this gun holds a lot of ammo, guaranteed to last at least an entire skirmish
*Retractable/Removable Stock - The retractable rear stock is a godsend, comfortable and versatile.
It is also removable for tight places or thick brush. (retractable for the Tactical version)
*Accurate - Yes, the gun is accurate provided you use 0.20 gram ammo. And has an effective range of 200ft (NEVER use 0.12gram, they cause dry fire and catastrophic jams... the firing piston will literally pulverize a 0.12g bb in the firing mechanism and seize up the gun... another reason for bad reviews... misuse)

And when you do buy it... get an empty soda can and shoot at it on rapid fire. (its amazing... the soda can will disintergrate right before your eyes!)

(and to add to the confusion... there is an EXACT copy of the R76 NOT manufactured by crossman... this model have a plastic gearbox... I DO NOT RECOMMEND this "knock-off" as the plastic gearbox may fail you)

My friend bought this gun a year ago, and it still works good on the battlefield. it can still compete with all other guns, which all cost double the price, they all are better in range and ROF, but this is still good. i would reccomend this gun.

I purchased this for our son for Christmas. We thought it would not arrive until the Friday after Christmas, but to our surprise, it arrived the day after. He loves it and would recommend it to ages 11 and up. Great for close and distant combat with friends. Very accurate.
Only disadvantage is that the scope is a little small and makes it harder to focus on target.

This was my first airsoft gun. When I got it, I went to test-fire it ASAP. I started shooting this and I realized this gun was AMAZING!!!! This was easily hitting 6-inch targets 120+ feet away! But the second day a wire on the battery disconnected, so I had to get a new one. The gun is still amazing and I've had it for 1 1/2 years. This gun is mostly made of plastic (ie. body, gearbox, rails, etc.), but it's very durable. I've fallen on this gun several times, and the only damage was that the orange flash hider got chipped (easy fix with superglue).
Pro's:
FPS (Chronoed at 390-410 avg.)
Range (I put on an L96 scope and hit targets 175 feet away)
Accuracy (This is very precise; hits where you point the gun)
Rate of Fire (Consistently at 13 bb's per second)
Price (Mine cost $108 including tax)
Size (18 inches w/out stock, 30 inches w/)
Overall Performance (This out-performs guns that are $200)

In conclusion, this gun is defenitly worth the $98 Wal-mart charges for the gun. The gun has excellent overall performance and statistics, but is rare to get a working, top-performance model. With the con's, I'm just nit-picking. So far, I've never regretted buying this gun. It's the best purchase I've ever made.

great gun. until it broke three months later. there are ALOT of diffrent reviews that say it's metal, or plastic gearbox. ITS PLASTIC. i figured that out when i took it apart to try to fix it. works really good when it does. stock is solid, good mag capacity, and the rails are solid. gets about 140 feet of acurrate range, (.20's) and shoots really fast. that being said, your taking a gamble with the plastic gears. Maybe i got a bad gun out of the bunch... or maybe not.

Great fun until it broke within two weeks. Lots of lawn mowing and other chores to save up for a toy that doesn't last. Gears stripped internally after a few thousand rounds. Only positive - returned to local Walmart for a full refund with no questions asked.

I bought this gun and within two weeks the gears that drive the firing mechanism stopped working. They appeared to have been stripped. I went online and it appears that this has been an ongoing problem. Be careful with your purchase.

Great Gun for the price
I play in battles every month with this gun and it is fully capable of competing. It is no ICS or Classic Army or any other high quality company but it definitely performs the way it should for the Price. I would definitely recommend this gun for anyone who participates in regular battles. I would also recommend getting a smart charger to avoid overcharging by mistake.

The rail on the top does not belong there. An AK of any type is designed to have iron sites and the rail gets in the way of the ones that are already there.

Let me get right to the point, buy this thing. I'm a Dad that owns and loves the real deal such as AR's and AK's. I bought this airsoft for my son for his birthday and the poor kid never gets any time on it because of Pops. This rifle is so fun too shoot.
Too all the parents out there, buy this for your kid and have many hours of fun without the cost of ammo and range fees in your own back yard. Heck, it made me feel like I was my son's age all over again even know I own the real deal. A+

I have had this gun now for 2 days, and I have to say it is one of the best investments I have ever made, this gun packs a punch and was only $98.00 that is great i have had a few shotguns in my past because I am more of a shotgun man I think im now an AEG person now this gun shoots 375 fps that is good for a walmart gun, for $98.00 forget what everybody says this gun is great best investment ever.

this gun is the best gun to get for the price. the battery is excellent and though it says the battery lasts five minutes of shooting,that actually is very long lasting compared to most other guns of this price. I had an airsoft party one time with about 16 people and i never got out! dont waste your time withother places or websites. get this gun!

when i first got this gun i absolutly loved this gun it was the best it has a good rpm it best suits beginner to intermediate players not suited for pros or tournament players. It has a good battery life you have to charge it every 2 to 3 days if you dont have backyard wars ans scrimigiss. Its made out of ABS plastic and it has a plastic gearbox there are two different models. clear with a full stock and with a FOLDING stock, and there it a black one with a full stock which i used to have and there is a black one with a folding stock as well i would recommend the one with a folding stock because it you want to take it off you have to hold a very small button and turn it. but wen i got this gun a couple weeks later it started to break and fall apart. all around its a pretty good gun i would not recommend this to a friend. Sorry crosman but this wasnt a very good model in my opinion make one with a full metal gearbox and a full metal body

hey guys, well heres what happened to me....ok, so i bought this gun with some christmas money that i had and well i do C.Q.B (close qourter combat, for those who dont know)and after some, not sure how to put this but, some not so intense games and i started to notice that the battery cords stared to come out. Now, i had never clunched up the wires because i made a bigger battery compartment. Also, the hi cap magazine is THE WORST MAG U CAN GET AT WALMART PROBABLY!!!!!! All in all i WOULD NEVER recamened this to any airsofters or beginers and i would never recamend this to my friends as a joke eather because its not funny for what the price on the gun is. WHAT EVER U DO, DO NOT BUY THIS GUN!!!!!! IT'S A WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!!
