The camera has been a learning experience. It does everything and I am still learning how to use it. The pictures have been very nice and taking them to Walmart to have them printed is and added plus. Plus, you can print out what you like with all the photo supplies that they carry.
It was a wonderful purchase and I am very happy that I no longer waited. The fact that they bundled it with supplies, vs their competition, made the purchase even more affordable.

I love my new camera. It takes great pictures. The only thing I don't like is that when you are in the video mode you can't see the whole 3" screen, it is like watching a wide screen movie. My other Kodak camera wasn't like that. I do like that I can take a still shot while in the video setting. I have been having fun with it. I just got it on April 21. I can't wait to take it to South Dakota in July. I'll be able to Zoom in on Mt. Rushmore!

I am an amateur photographer who is reasonably familiar with the technicalities of photography. I have been using cameras since the late seventies and over the years have used all kinds of cameras starting from absolutely simple universal focus point and shoot film cameras to very convenient direct viewfinder to SLR cameras.
I wanted a camera with the following features:
1. Manual controls to fix aperture, shutter speed, film speed etc.
2. Ability to take good quality videos
3. At least 15x optical zoom
4. Operates on AA batteries and uses less power
5. Ability to take rapid photographs in bursts
I wanted a camera with the following features:
1. Manual controls to fix aperture, shutter speed, film speed etc.

4. Operates on AA batteries and uses less power
5. Ability to take rapid photographs in bursts
Most cameras that would have worked for me were upwards of $350 and lacked at least one of the features mentioned above. I got all the features I wanted and then some at a price of about $180. This camera has:
1. 30x optical zoom
2. Aperture and shutter priority modes alongwith full manual mode
3. Supports film speeds upto 6400 ASA and shutter speeds as low as 1/2000
4. In addition it has some really cool features such as: it can help you take panoramic pictures merging 3 pictures to make one (or make a panoramic picture by panning), full 1080 video and best of all it can take a picture while you are recording a video.

I have used the camera extensively over the last 2 weeks and am happy to see it perform really well in most situations. A buyer must be aware of some minor limitations. These are:
1. Autofocus is a tad slow. That hasn't bothered me as I have used manual focus most of my life so I know how to get along without it. But for those who don't have a way with cameras it will slow the time taken to take a picture.
2. Max aperture at even moderate zoom is rather low. Again, normally that would bother only those who know something about aperture. And then if you want a really large aperture zoom you probably have to go with an expensive single focal length telephoto. So for its price it should be overlooked.
3. It takes almost 10 seconds to start taking video after you press the button, so you have to anticipate and be ready.
4. The manual says that it can take 20 photos at endless burst but it runs out of processing power at about 5 or 6 frames, so its motor drive (or burst as they are now called) is rather limited. Again, I overlook this because it is at par with other cameras in its class and if this is important one would need to buy a much more expensive camera.
5. Lastly, while its panorama feature works as mentioned, I feel that the panorama utility on Fuji cameras is way better. But then equally priced Fuji cameras (or other brand cameras) don't give anywhere near the features this gives.

Love, Love, Love my new camera! This was a great deal and I am so happy with this purchase. Only negative is the camera case, I purchased one that was a little more sturdy, did not want anything to happen to my camera!!!!! But it is a great deal and I am soooo happy!

WalMart didn't have this camera in stock, so I ordered it through the internet. Was quite easy and fast. I would recommend this if a product is not in stock. Doesn't take much time and they deliver it to the store you want.

I had (have) a Kodak Z700 for about 5 years. Always thought highly of it except for one thing: the degree of difficulty at times getting the mode switch to change modes (rotate). And that fault was/is noted by others. I decided to update to the Z990 and I like it even better than the Z700, especially that the mode switch is highly improved and works easily. As I read in a previous review, I do find that the close-up (Macro) mode on the old 700 was better than the one on this 990. However, on that same review the gent stated that he had found he could use the Close-up Portrait mode of the 990 to take his promo photos of Jewelry etc. That report decided me to update and I find him to be correct there also. I still have the 700, just in case I wasn't happy with the close-up portrait use to take pics of products for forums and e-bay that I do almost daily but haven't had to use the older one yet. I probably will soon sell the Z700 to someone whose fingers work better than my 76 years old ones do - LOL
Too bad Kodak went out of the Digital camera business IMO

I really wanted this camera to work out but instead I had to return it, lots of pictures came out blurry, it seemed to have great night time lighting but again pictures were blurry. Also did not like the battery charging set up, seemed like it coule break.

I am not a picture pro by any chance, however what I can say this camera has the most bang for the WALMART Buck!!, 30X Zoom, 1080 video recording, Smart capture (Which I love), easy share button for FaceBook or other networking sites!, The view finder is a wonderful surprise! Great for those really sunny days , very user friendly controls and options.
Cons: Bothersome delay when trying to take another shot as preview mode always comes on before you can take another shot, you could miss opportunities to take another shot if needed rapidly. Neck strap is too thin and really hurts neck get a real one
Now some tips: The Red camera case it comes with is useless, no space for additional batteries skin tight for the camera, it also came with a no frills 8 GB class 4 memory card, now the biggest concern is the rechargable batteries are really not that good and drain rapidly, lasted me for only 40 picture before it ran out (Charged all night)
I ended buying some really good ansmann batteries 2850 Mah for 18 dollars on EBAY.. On the next outing I took 60 pictures and did not even phase these batteries were still full. Video looks nice, but did not buy it for that reason as I have a JVC Digital Video Camera for that, however nice to have and does take nice video. Hurry while they last as Kodak will or has stopped making cameras.

I was looking for a good camera at a decent price and FOUND IT!!! I searched ALL the possible retailers and Walmart outdid them all!! I would HIGHLY recommend both camera and retailer and the ONLY negative is a "lag" time between shots.Great pictures,easy,super-fast upload,very,very impressive overall.
